The queen has returned.
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .
She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.
The fourth volume in the New York Times bestselling series contrinues Celaena's epic journey and builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

YES. YES YES. OH MY GOSH. YES.
THIS EXCEEDED ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONS. ACTION, ROMANCE, KICK-ASSERY, FEELS, AND JUST STRAIGHT UP AMAZINGNESS. I LOVE SO MANY OF THE CHARACTERS IN THIS SERIES. I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELS RIGHT NOW.
I NEED MORE ROWAN. I AM SERIOUSLY IN LOVE WITH HIM. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE AND SUPPORT ROWAN.
A complaint I had was that some of the characters acted out of character, but that didn't annoy me enough to give this book anything less than a 5 star rating. Another complaint of mine was that I wanted there to be less chapters with Manon's POV. However, I liked seeing her slight character growth in this book, and I am excited to see her continued to develop in the next book.
Speaking of,
WHERE IS THE NEXT BOOK? *grabby hands*

I am obsessed with this series and I absolutely loved Queen Of Shadows! Sarah J. Maas is one spectacular writer, but not just that, she is a fantastic storyteller as well. Every time I read one of her stories I can perfectly envision the chain of events playing out in my mind's eye.
This book starts with Aelin going back to Rifthold to save her cousin Aedion from the horrible king of Adarlan. He's the only family she has left and she'll risk anything to save him from death, even other people's lives. Her reunion with Chaol isn't exactly what I wanted, but it was realistic considering how things were left between them. After everything they have gone through they have changed so much. Of course we all fell in love with Celaena and Chaol as a couple from the first couple of books but they have gone through so much that they were bound to fall apart. Celaena isn't Celaena Sardothian anymore, she's Aelin Ashryver Galathynius. Chaol isn't Captain of the Guard anymore he's a rebel. The reunion was a little bit angry, a little bit bitter, and a lot indifferent. I felt like after the initial interactions they were indifferent to each other unless they were butting heads about something or someone, like lets sayyyyyyyy, Dorian.
Dorian is imprisoned by a Wyrdmark collar and a valg prince has overtaken his body. He is slowly losing control and it's so sad to see! Heart-wrenching! How could his father do something like that to him?! His own son! He is absolutely despicable!
We also get some new characters named, Nesryn and Lysandra. I don't love or hate, Nesryn even though she is a bit of a badass. She's definitely faithful to Chaol and they seem to have a past that we learn about. It's not much detail but we get the gist. Lysandra and Aelin have a past as well. They basically grew up together. Aelin was being trained as an assassin and Lysandra as a courtesan, and they despised each other. They end up making an unusual alliance because you know what they say, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Arobynn has hurt them both deeply and they will make sure he gets what's coming to him.
When Heir Of Fire ended we knew that Rowan was going to wait behind for Aelin. Well one thing leads to another and he ends up in Rifthold as well. I love the reunion between them! They run into each others arms and it's just so sweet! They are adorable! I ship them! Yes I said it! I ship them so hard! Don't hate me for this but, Chaol and Celaena might have been in love but I think that, Aelin and Rowan are soulmates!
Manon is also getting more page time. She is faced with some very hard decisions to make. Her grandmother is very cruel and ruthless, she gives her no choice in things, and is completely evil! Manon is also ruthless but somehow a softer side comes out during certain scenes that makes me think that not all hope is lost with her. I seriously want something to happen between her and Dorian! That would be perfection! Come on, Sarah, do this for me please!!!
Just one more thing...I need the next book now!
