Claimed (Outlaws #1) by Elle Kennedy

After a devastating war decimated most of the world, Hudson Lane has only known the oppressive life under her own father’s tyranny. She finally escapes, branding herself an outlaw and hunted by the Enforcers. Her best chance at survival is Connor Mackenzie, an aggressively sensual fugitive who opens her eyes to the wicked possibilities of a world without rules.

As the leader of a band of outlaw fighters, Connor can’t resist the beautiful stranger who asks for his protection. Despite his reservations, he agrees to introduce her to a whole new way of life. But when Connor discovers Hudson’s connection to the enemies of liberty, he wonders how far he can trust the woman who has abandoned all inhibitions to challenge every forbidden desire.

It is hard for me to rate this book, because I really liked some aspects of this book and really didn't like other aspects of this book. What I did like about this book was the plot. I thought the plot was really exciting and interesting. The dystopian world was really interesting, and I enjoyed learning a lot about the world and how it worked. I thought Elle did a great job of explaining the world without it seeming like she was giving too much information that it felt like an overload. I liked the action that this book had. The action made the book suspensive and addictive.

Hudson and Connor had a lot of chemistry and passion, but I am not sure how I feel about their relationship. Connor definitely was sexy and I liked his protective side, but I thought he was way too controlling. It made me uncomfortable how he controlled the moves of all of the characters. For me, it came off as aggravating rather than sexy. This book was also a lot more sexual and erotic than I was expecting. Some of the sex scenes were very steamy, which I enjoyed. However, other sex scenes just left me feeling uncomfortable. I felt like the interesting dystopian plot was taken over by erotic sex. I wanted less sex, and more plot development. As I said, this book was erotic, so there were some intense scenes. I personally do not like reading books where the main character has multiple partners during a sexual encounter, and this book had that. Some people might like that, which is totally fine! However, it is just not my cup of tea.

Overall, I liked this book. What I liked about this book was the action, the post apocalyptic world, and the suspense. I would have enjoyed this book even more if Connor was less controlling, and there would have been less sex. When the sequel comes out, I will probably check in out in hopes that my issues with this book will not turn up in the sequel.

If you really enjoy erotic romances, then I think you will enjoy this book!

2.5 - 3 / 5 Fangs
