Harry Dresden is asked to help with a new investigation involving possible werewolf attacks. Murphy, the one handling the investigation is still mad at Harry for omitting information about the magic world in Storm Front.
There is a lot of action in this book. Harry is constantly battling some new evil and nothing goes as planed for him. More than once he's ready to die. Luckily, since I know he has more than ten books, I know he isn't in any real danger.
I thought the werewolf lore was amazing. So many types, including the last one that we get at the end of the book.
Harry's love life seems to be at a stand still. Susan, the reporter seems to be the one he likes, for now. I'm guessing Murphy will be the one in the future. But, right now I don't like Murphy. She is too immature at times. Hitting Harry was dreadful. Someone said Police Brutality? She is not my favorite character.
One thing that drives me nuts is the self-deprecating Harry goes through over a over. Harry, stop being selfish. Everything bad that happens around you doesn't make YOU the reason for it. People died because of their decisions not because they know you. I seriously hope this improves over the next few books.
I do have to admit that the audiobook is AMAZING, maybe because James Marsters (aka Spike!) is the one narrating it. I wonder why James doesn't play him on TV/Movies. I can back that plan up.
for a long time. He is abusive, not physically but mentally. He wants to shape her into something she’s not. When she jumps out of a window, her best friend Wolfe is there to catch her.
Wolfe is dreading Genevieve’s wedding. He knows she’s making a mistake. Wolfe has been worried about her for a while. To his shock, while on a smoke break outside the church, he finds her sneaking out of a window of her own wedding. Wolfe is determined to to protect her and he takes her away to Sawyer’s cabin for a few days until the smoke clears.
Here is where things get complicated. Lines between friendship and lovers get crossed and once they do nothing is the same.
~~
Jennifer Probst makes me fall in love with her characters and their stories. This one was no different.
I love Wolfe. He was caring, loyal, he was a true friend and later on a great partner. He protected her when she needed someone to support her during a confusing time in her life.
I also thought Genevieve was very strong. It takes guts to leave an abuser and she did it just in time. She saved herself from years of unhappiness.
The connection Wolfe and Genevieve have was based in unconditional friendship. They had been there for each other for years. Their feelings have deepened over time and it has created a straight path to romance. An unbreakable bond.
Great addition to the Searching For Series.

Deacon doesn’t want Willow back in school because of Willow’s life in danger by the person who killed her mother To help out, Alex volunteers to home-school her.
Deacon Malloy likes the MC life. He is the sergeant at arms of the Hells Raiders MC. He can be ruthless and dangerous. Months later when he meets Willow’s teacher, he knows he should stay away from her because he’s not good enough for her. He tries to make his brother Rev and Alex get together but the more he pushes them together, the more it bothers him.
But old enemies are lurking and Willow and Alex's lives are in danger.
~~
I love MC books so I couldn’t pass reading this one. Vicious cycle has a strong beginning.
Willow’s terror felt real to me and it was a sure way to endear me to the little girl.
Deacon was all alpha, no messing around with him or his brothers.
Alex was smart and sassy. Her dedication to Willow as a teacher was impressive.
I liked that the author spaced their relationship to give it a more realistic feeling, no insta-love. It felt natural.
The other MC guys were likable, especially Rev and Bishop. Archer, the prospect was also a good addition.
My main issue involves the conflict and its resolution. I didn’t think it was realistic. It felt too simple and easy.
Overall Vicious Cycle had an interesting storyline.
Rev is next!
“My head tells me to be leery of you. That I shouldn’t want to be with an outlaw like you. But no matter how hard I try to talk myself out of my feelings for you, my heart and body rage and riot for you.”

Helen Grace is a Detective Inspector. When someone starts kidnapping two people at a time and making one of the victims commit an awful crime, Helen's team becomes in charge of the investigation. Helen is running out of time. The press is on their toes and a serial killer on the loose is big news. Helen is hiding her own demons too. Nobody really knows her well. She likes it this way.
~~
I love crime novels and mystery books. I haven't read one in a while and this was a perfect one to pull me back into this genre. The author gives you plenty of clues to guide you towards the identity of the killer.
I like Helen as a character. She was determined and a go getter. Her past didn't completely define her. She wanted more in life. She was also not scared of apologizing when she was in the wrong.

“Will you kill or be killed?”
If your only chance for survival was hinged on killing someone, before they killed you, could you pull the trigger? Or, would you sit back and slowly suffer, hoping all along the other person makes the same choice? I think the author does a great job of forcing the reader to contemplate both decisions. Well, I did at least.
This twisted story of kill or be killed, centers around a police detective, Helen Grace, and her relentless search for a psycho that’s abducting people and forcing them to make an impossible decision. Helen is a strong woman that’s made quite a reputation for herself. She’s a no-nonsense homicide detective, dead set on getting the job done. To me, she was a little unlikeable and cold in the beginning, but sort of intriguing at the same time. There’s a part of her that seeks to be punished, severely, for something that happened in her past. Her method of release, definitely adds an interesting and different dynamic to the story.
Trust is a fragile thing - hard to earn, easy to lose.
It all starts when a couple is abducted and left at the bottom of a drained pool, too deep to escape, with nothing but a cell phone and a gun. The battery on the phone lasts mere minutes. Just enough time for them to take the call that seals their fate. One of them, has to pull the trigger or they’ll both be left to rot. Imagine everyone’s shock, when the survivor shows up with this crazy story. Helen isn’t sure what to believe. When the abductions keep happening, she has no choice but to dig deep and find out what ties all these victims together. It’s a shocker that's anything but predictable.
“The flesh was his own, bitten from his right forearm. By the looks of it, I’d say he managed three to four mouthfuls before he gave up.”
One of the best aspects of the story, in my opinion, was the survivor’s guilt. What everyone fails to consider and what the author brings to the forefront - the consequences of taking someone else’s life. That’s not something you can just walk away from. It was that notion, that really tied the entire story together for me.
You have to be prepared, going into this story, it's dark and often times horrific. There really isn’t anything pretty about it. There’s unexpected twists, betrayal and death, all intensified with the constantly changing POV and the shock value the author loves to conclude almost every chapter with. It had me guessing and questioning, all along, when and if, I would ever be back in that person’s head.
I can't end this review without mentioning my heartbreak. The romance junkie in me was devastated, and almost in disbelief, about what happened with one of the characters. I don’t want to give anything away, so I won’t mention any names, but it was tragic. Ever the eternal optimist, I was sure, after everything, it would be a fairytale ending, but nope. 4/5 Fangs *ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
Victoria Slade is a very successful divorce lawyer. She has her own firm but when someone breaks into her house she finds out she doesn’t feel safe there anymore and while she’s waiting for her new condo to be available she decides to rent a place for a few months. To her surprise she dislikes her neighbor with a passion. His revolving door is causing her whiplash. It doesn’t matter that he is hot. A guy like that is the reason why she is in business after all.
Ford Dixon is an investigative journalist. His next order of business if finding the guy who knocked up his sister and gave her a child. He wants to make sure the scumbag takes his part of the responsibility in his niece’s life. Pairing with the next door neighbor to track him down is the last thing he wanted primarily because of how much it bothered him how much she misjudged him.
~~
I love Julie James’ FBI/US Attorney series so I couldn’t wait to read her spinoff. Both characters were damaged. They had baggage. Ford’s was due to his dad, an alcoholic who changed from being a great dad to a terrible stranger in the blink of an eye. But, Ford was also at a point in his life were he knew something was missing. He didn’t feel fulfilled, casual hookups weren’t satisfying anymore. Without really realizing it, he wanted more. Victoria's abandonment issues were due to dealing with her mother’s attempted suicide when she was a child. They made her the perfect divorce lawyer, she was cynical and didn’t believe in long term relationships.
Neither wanted to have a relationship or fall in love.
The first few chapters were awesome. I love that Victoria thought the worst of him and they hated each other until his sister makes them come together to find the father of her child.

Lauren Hastings is forced to take a part time job after getting arrested. She is twenty-six and she is studying for her masters in psychology. She wishes she already had finished her career but for very painful reasons she has delayed school. Her mother offers her the perfect solution to her new problem. She can work part-time for Dr Scott Jacobs. Lauren is shocked to realize Doctor Jacobs is young and attractive.
Dr Scott Jacobs inherited his dad's practice but he's dedicated to his job. His mother messed him and his brother up. He doesn't want to fall in love or have a serious relationship. He can only offer a no strings attached relationship. His attraction to Lauren should make him run in the opposite direction instead he finds himself wanting to spend more time with her.
“I don’t do relationships. At least not in the traditional sense, I’m not going to lie: I want you. So if you decide to walk down this road with me, you need to know that there’s no happily ever after at the end of it. No love or prolonged commitments. It’ll be raw and consuming, but eventually it’ll be over. Can you handle that?
--
I liked this book. Lauren was a mentally mature woman unless she is fighting a guy off. Then, she is all violence. Scott's fear of intimacy and love was all due to his childhood problems and who can blame him after sustaining his mother's deplorable actions.
I felt a kinship towards Scott's brother, Tim and I'm glad he's doing better. Maybe he'll get his HEA with Quinn.

“the truth is that when you’ve survived the worst, it doesn’t take nearly as long to recognize the best.”
Sweet, is the best way to describe this book.
It’s based in a small town where everyone pretty much knows everyone’s business.
Johnny is an amazing brother. He is respectful, smart and cares deeply for those 2 little boys. When it was time to defend them, he shined. Johnny melted my heart.
“And that was Johnny Pine’s gift to her. He’d given her a soft place to fall.”
Dori was such a likable character. She was doing everything she could to help her little baby. She demonstrated spark when she needed it.

1) Unknowingly going out with a vampire stripper
2) Getting kidnapped by said vampire's nest mates
3) Falling head over heels for your winged hero

especially when no one believes you that he exists.

After years as a perpetual student, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two young children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.
Emily Reynolds, estranged sister
to Dane Reynolds, President of the Savage Angels MC, has just lost her
father. He was not a caring man and
inflicted suffering on his family. Dane
abandoned her and her mother years ago, leaving them alone to deal with a
brutal man who never showed any love or mercy.
Emily wants Dane to feel the pain she felt, she wants him to suffer as
she did and decides to make the long drive to see him.
Salvatore Agostino, captain in
the Abruzzi crime family is also on his way to see Dane Reynolds. A ruthless
businessman, he is fiercely loyal to his family and his men. A chance encounter brings him face to face
with Emily.
These two meet and their
attraction grows into a love that neither could have anticipated.
Will
they be able to overcome the turmoil that awaits them or will their love be
destroyed by forces beyond their control?
I am completely overwhelmed. My core is on fire and I want so much to kiss him, to touch him. I feel sparks of electricity shoot through every fiber in my body and every nerve ending is screaming for release. I want his hands on me, all over me. “Amare?” I put my hands on his chest and push him away. He’s too close, making it hard to form a single thought. I take two steps to the side to put some distance between us so I can speak like a human, not a lust induced zombie. “Yes, they towed my car and it’s in their lot. I haven’t really spoken to them about it yet. I kind of fell asleep on them…” His face clouds over and he says, “You kind of fell asleep on them? What. Does. That. Mean?” He pauses between each word and growls them at me. “Jonas took me to see Doc Jordan and he gave me something for the pain, but because I hadn’t slept in days it made me sleepy. I think he ended up carrying me to their clubhouse.” I realize how all this must sound. If someone told me that exact same story, I would be thinking the worst. “Did they touch you, Amare?” he growls at me, his eyes blazing with anger. “No, no, no! In fact, Jonas put a guard on my door so no one would go near me. Not that they would. I was safe, Sal.” Something crosses his face and he stares at me so intently that I look away and stare at the floor. He moves back into my space and lifts my head up. “Thank you for getting me coffee. Let’s go have breakfast and I’m buying. I think I shall keep you in my sights to make sure nothing else happens to you. I have never met a woman who allows herself to get into so many dangerous situations, in such a short space in time. You, my Amare, are a handful.” He moves away from me and does up his shirt, then grabs his jacket. He opens the door to his room and extends his arm. “Shall we?” he asks, offering me a smile that reveals his dimple. My core clenches again and I have to fight the urge to throw myself at him.

I actually have not read any book in this series, but I decided to pick up this book because the premise sounded like a book I would really enjoy. I am extremely happy that I decided to pick up this book, because I adored it immensely. I now definitely plan on going back and reading the other two books! If you are interested in this book, it can be read as a stand alone, but I am warning you that you will want to go back and read the entire series! This book is definitely a winner.
I absolutely loved the main character, Nell. She was so awkward and adorable that I couldn't help but love her. I also really enjoyed the fact that she was a shy nerd. I can usually relate to those types of characters, and I definitely could relate to Nell in that sense. The only issue I had with Nell's character was that she seemed to come out of her shell way too quickly. I am glad that she did open up and "live" more, but I wish it would had developed at a slower place.
The other main character in this book was Matteo. I don't know if words can describe how much I loved his character. He was hilarious and he oozed charisma. Usually guys like that can come off as complete jerks, but Matteo was the complete opposite because he had a huge heart. He was just so lovable! The only thing I didn't like about Matteo was that I felt uncomfortable with the reason why he found himself attracted to Nell. I don't want to specifically say it since that would be a spoiler. However, I was glad the issue was discussed and fleshed out by the end of the book in an adorable way.
The romance in this book was the perfect combination of adorable and sexy. I loved how Matteo and Nell seemed like complete opposites, but they worked so well together. They definitely brought out the best in each other. Their relationship was constantly putting a smile on my face. Matteo and Nell also had a lot of chemistry together, and it was almost palpable. Cora definitely knows how to write some steamy scenes! What I also liked about the romance in this book was that there wasn't any unnecessary angst. There is some angst in this book, but never made me roll my eyes or made me want to stop reading the book. The angst felt natural and I loved the way the angst was solved.
I really enjoyed this book! I definitely would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new contemporary romance to read.

An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible
Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.
Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.
No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.
From Emily's Point of View. Set up: Emily is riding a motorcycle for the very first time and she's riding it with Oz.
THE MOTORCYCLE ACCELERATES AND THE FEW inches I had established between me and Oz: gone. My body slides forward, colliding into his, and we click together like two puzzle pieces. Heat rushes up my neck and onto my cheeks. My thighs are too close to his, too tight against his body and this is way more intimate than I have been before with a guy.
Even when the two of us kissed.
Oz veers left, away from Olivia’s, away from the main road, and the entire motorcycle pitches to the side. My heart thunders and my fingers clutch not only at Oz’s belt loop, but at the material of his jeans, and his hips.
Oz glances at me over his shoulder as the bike straightens out. “Lean with it, Emily.”
Right. Lean with Oz and the bike. Got it. The narrow road curves ahead and this time when Oz and the bike tilt, I move along with it. Oz releases one of the amazingly high handlebars and massages my knee before returning his hand to the grip. Whether in reassurance or to affirm I mastered the curve I don’t know, but either way, I sit higher.
The wind whips through my hair and onto my face and I shut my eyes for a brief second and pretend that I’m flying. There’s something energizing, something hypnotic, something inside me that begs to burst out of a cage in search of freedom.
The motorcycle kicks forward and our speed increases. Beams of sunlight filter through the towering trees and green foliage blurs together as we fly over the road. From head to toe, my body vibrates with the loud growling of the powerful machine.
My knee still tingles from where Oz laid his fingers on me and I’ve never been more aware of my hands in my life. I should let go of Oz’s body, but I can’t. Belt loops weren’t enough and my fingers have somehow edged up and onto his sides. Oz is solid. Yes, definitely solid. Every inch of him that I touch is tight muscle.
Oz is a year older than me, but somehow he seems older, wiser and hotter than any other guy I’ve known. Just the way he rides his bike creates this overabundance of confidence.
Warm sensations I’ve never experienced before blossom through me. We enter another curve and I lean with him. I like how in sync I’ve become with Oz and the motorcycle. Like we’ve merged into one.
The purr of the engine deepens and Oz eases the bike to a stop. His feet hit the ground and he turns the machine off. It’s as if all sound in the world ceased, or maybe I’ve gone deaf because there’s no way anything can be this still or silent.
The wind picks up and the silence is frightened away with the roar of the trees bending. Both Oz and I shift with the flow of air and Oz doesn’t move the bike until the breeze gentles.
Oz kicks down the stand and the bike tilts, but not too much. He sets a hand over the fingers that I laced together across his stomach. Oh, hell, I’m plastic wrapped to him. I drop my head onto his shoulder and it places me closer, and closer is not what I need.
I go to unglue myself, but Oz squeezes my fingers, sending a jolt of electricity up my arms. “You okay?”
I have to clear my throat to speak and that just sucks. “Yes.”
Oz slides his fingers against mine and a fluttering occurs in my stomach. It’s a light fluttering. Ticklish even, and my survival instincts scream at me to get off this motorcycle.
Trailer
I really enjoyed NO WHERE BUT HERE.It was a fantastic young adult MC story with
angst and love.
Oz has only ever wanted one thing in his life: to be a
brother in the Reign of Fire MC.His
whole life he has watched his dad and other brothers live the life and share
the respect and love. The weekend before
he’s about to be prospect Emily comes into town and turns his world upside
down.
Emily is the club’s secret. She lives in Florida with her mom and step-dad and only sees her
biological father once a year when he comes to visit her. When something happens and she is forced to
go to her biological dad she learns that everything her parents have told her
is a lie. When all the secrets are revealed she doesn’t
know who to trust or where to go.She
does know that she trusts Oz and knows he would never hurt her.
**
NOWHERE BUT HERE was an entertaining read from the first
page to the last.It was filled with humor
and angst.I’ll admit that it was a bit
weird to read at the beginning because the club is completely legit. They aren’t involved in any illegal activity
so it was odd reading about a clean MC.As I continued to read I fell for all the characters and their
struggles.
Oz and Emily were hilarious together. They had fantastic banter and a hot
connection.When Oz was told to
“babysit” Emily I knew I was in for a treat.
“That’s not going to happen.”
“Yes it is, or I’ll tell Eli that
you make me sad.I overheard what he
said to you. You’re not officially a
part of this Boy Scout troop and if you want in then you have to make me
happy.”
The ending reveal really surprised me.I didn’t see it coming at all.I am so excited to read the next story in
The Thunder Road series. It’s going to
be fantastic.
