~ Synopsis ~

From the New York Times Best Selling Author of the Accidentally On Purpose trilogy… “You were born to be mine and I was born to be yours.” Donya Stewart’s chest filled with the soft beating wings of butterflies when she first met Emmet Grayne’s green eyes at the ripe age of five. Unable to identify the tugging pressure within her when in his presence, Donya moved through the first several years of her life addled by her feelings for the boy who was her best friend’s brother, and very much like her own sibling. But one cool autumn night in her mystifying teenage years, Emmet erases any ideas Donya has of him being anything like a sibling. Donya and Emmet, unable to deny the invisible cord that fetters them together on an incredibly visceral level, begin a long journey on a road abounding with challenges, hurdles, and destructive forces. Their love for one another is absolute, and the emotional link between them is strong, but when they make a series of painful decisions and mistakes that pull them apart, the strength of that tether is challenged. “The tether contorted and quivered and groaned in protest.” If you are in search of an angst-filled romance novel, get tied into Tethered…

   ~ Excerpt ~

"I whirl around and rush towards the exit. It’s January, in Chicago no less, but I feel hot and my palms are sweaty. It feels very stuffy in here and I am having difficulty breathing. I promise myself I won’t turn around and look. There is no reason to look. I won’t look. I’m only a few feet from the door. I turn my head and look. It is as if there is a magnet that draws my eyes to his exact location every time I say I will not look. If I have looked in the past and he was not in my immediate eye sight, I may have turned away and been okay, but that never happens. My eyes always find him right away. He looks stunning in his tuxedo. His deep blue bowtie hangs to one side and his shirt is unbuttoned a few buttons, revealing the beginning contours of what I know to be a well-defined chest. His dark hair is a little on the long side. Hair falls across his forehead. It’s sexy. His wife hates it. She must not like running her fingers through it. His hands are in his pockets as he speaks. He looks casual and relaxed. I look away and escape the crushing pressure of the room. I dig into the little purse strapped to my wrist and get my ticket for my coat. I thrust the piece of paper at the guy behind the counter and he retrieves my coat a few seconds later. I walk out of the building and away from the few people outside who also dared the cold. I follow a walkway until I find myself on the other side of the building, facing what is probably a very gorgeous garden in the warmer months. It was still pretty, even under the ice and snow. I look around and am relieved to find myself alone. The sun is setting. The lampposts are flickering to life. It is cold as cold can be out here, but I needed to get out of there.
I open my purse and find my hidden cigarette and lighter. I put the cancer stick in my mouth and light it up. I inhale deeply. I close my eyes as I let the smoke out slowly through slightly parted lips. Smoking is the bad habit I picked up during my days as a model. I got lucky. It could have been cocaine, heroin, pills, and so many other things that string a girl out. I quit smoking when I quit modeling, but on occasion, a cigarette is warranted. I hear light footfalls behind me. The long invisible tether tightens. I know who is coming without having to look. I can feel him. My eyes always find him and he always finds me. I stopped questioning it long ago. One strong arm encircles my waist. I shiver and it has nothing to do with the chilling weather. A hand plucks the cigarette from my lips and tosses it away. I watch as it lands in the snow a few feet off of the path. It is resilient. It burns on, despite the cold moisture under it. Another arm closes around me. My head naturally falls back on his shoulder and his cheek naturally presses against my hair. I breathe him in and his scent settles my nerves better than any cigarette ever has. Feeling his body enveloping mine makes me feel safer than I ever do anywhere else."

Twenty-five-year-old Ryke Meadows knows he’s hard to love. With a billion-dollar inheritance, a track-star resume, and an alpha-male personality—he redefines the term likable asshole. Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths #1) by K.A. Tucker

Ten Tiny Breaths
Kacey and Livie Cleary moved from Michigan to Miami after her uncle was inappropriate with Livie.
Their parents died in a car accident and Kacey was in the car when it happened. This has traumatized her and after being able to walk again, she had a phase of drugs, sex and alcohol. She quit all of it to be there for Livie and she tried to deal with her anger through kick boxing.

She is surprised when she meets her new neighbor, Trent Enderson. He makes her feel things she thought she couldn't anymore.

Trent is a stranger that seems to watch over Kacey all the time. He is sweet, supportive and super hot. He is very patient but he is hiding a big secret of his own.
When the secrets are revealed the shock is worse than an earthquake.

I know I'm super late to this party but I loved this book. I don't know why it took me so long to read it.

Kacey is a feisty young woman, determined to keep her sister with her by all means. She is funny, can be sarcastic, and at the same time very angry and so damaged. I don't want to even begin to imagine what she went through and how she survived it.  It broke my heart to read her pain.

"I’m not Kacey Cleary anymore. I’m an empty shell who cracks inappropriate jokes and feels nothing. I’m a Kacey imposter."

From the first moment Trent made an appearance I was intrigued by him and so was Kacey. Her attraction to him was undeniable.

"I should stalk over there and pee around his table to stake my claim. Wait ... what? Jeez, Kacey."

In the weeks to follow he was always there to help Kacie. Always watching and defending Kacey when she needed him the most. If reading Kacey's pain broke my heart, I have no words to describe how I felt when Trent was in pain.

“What’s wrong is that every morning and every night, I lie in bed wondering why you’re not beside me.”

The twist was not unexpected by the story works.

In. Every. Aspect.

I believed it, I understood it and I agreed with it.
Those two finding happiness made me very happy.
I was pleased to see this book is free of a cliffhanger.

“Forever’s a long time.”
Trent’s arms squeeze around me. “Forever’s not long enough when it’s with you.”

In regards to the secondary characters, I liked a lot of them. Livie was a great sister. Storm was a great friend and I was glad she found her own happiness. Ben was always funny. Cain has a heart of gold ( I can't wait to read his story). Dr Stayner 's unorthodox treatment was definitely interesting to read.

“Just breathe. Ten tiny breaths … Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

“I barrel into his arms, my mouth connecting with his. Seizing him. Feeling him. Loving him.”

Silent No More (Silent #1) by N.E. Henderson

Silent No More
Shannon Taylor discovers her fiancé cheating on her with her best friend. She is devastated and in a moment of clarity she knows she must collect herself and decides to stay at a hotel for a night. She also decides is time to get wasted. She starts drinking at the bar until a stranger strikes up a conversation with her. When she tries to leave, her world tilts on its axis and she almost falls down. Thankfully, the handsome stranger is there to help her.

Nicholas Lockhart is a business man. He is handsome, rich and successful and once he sets his mind to get Shannon, little will deter him.

Nicholas comes from an abusive family. His dad used to abuse his mother until he put a stop to it.  He likes to dominate but not to hurt his lovers. Sometimes, I felt like he was a little too much. He needed to back off and give Shannon some space.

The story line is good and the flow is fast. The twists are good too and they leave you with a bunch of more questions.

However, the book does end in a cliffhanger so the story is not done.

I will read book 2 to satisfy my curiosity and hopefully getting all the anwsers.

Searching for Someday (Searching For #1) by Jennifer Probst

Searching for Someday
Kate is the owner of the matchmaking company called Kinnection with two of her best friends. She likes to help people find their one true love, but has not been fortunate to found her own.

Slade is a divorce lawyer. He doesn't believe in love or happily ever after. When his sister who was been hurt in the past moves out from his home and tells him she has hired a matchmaking company, he is furious. He decides to talk to the owner and find out how much this scam is going to affect his sister 's mental stability. The last thing he expected is to be attracted to Kate.

Everything gets complicated when he decides he will become a client too. When the sparks start flying between Kate and Slade their path changes for both.

This was a fun read. The angst is minimum. It has hilarious parts and I love the gift Kate possesses. It made the story even sweeter.
I will recommend this book when you want to read something that makes you smile without ugly crying.

I can't end the review without saying that I love Robert!! One part of the book made me really worried about him but I'm glad everything worked out in the end.

Ringer (Summer #3.5) by C.J. Duggan

Ringer
The novella begins with Ringer tired of all the "love is in the air" relationships around him. He is in need of a change in venue ASAP.

"Yeah, Onslow was beautiful; it was also bathed in romance. Sweet doe-eyed looks, hand holding, giggles, freakin’ sunshine and rainbows. It was enough to make your beer go flat."

When he finds out he can help his friend Max, he decides to leave Onslow and drive to Ballan and to Max's dad's property to help around.
To his surprise, the daughter of his temporary boss is acting like a spoiled brat and Ringer is not going to let her win this little war they have going on.

However, the more time he spends with her, the more he likes her even against his own will.

Miranda Henry is forced to go back home. Leaving Paris and going back to Australia is not what she wants. To makes matters worse, the new hired help keeps on making her do crazy things.  One minute she wants to hit him and the next she wants to kiss him -- hard.

Oh my, Ringer, you were so good in this book. You are my new favorite Onslow boy (I'm sure I'll change my mind when I read Adam's book).

I do think you deserved a full novel, but I guess I will have to conform with what I got. Sigh!

I like how CJ handles the humor. I do believe the last chapter was so funny and I liked how it ends too.  I do hope we see more of them in Adam's book.  The only thing I will change about Ringer will be his smoking. Please quit, Ringer.

“Any girl who could nearly run me over, flip me off, tell me to eff off, drench me in cold water, stomp on my foot, push me in a dam, rip my favourite jeans, make me carry her handbag, attack me in my sleep, force me to hide under a car … and yet, still manages to make me fall in love with her?”

Dear Tabitha (Forever Family #2) by Trudy Stiles

Dear Tabitha
In order to understand Dear Tabitha you must read Dear Emily first.

At the conclusion of Dear Emily, we know that Alex is knocking on Tabitha's door. Two years have gone by. At first Alex is mad, but when he realizes that Tabitha is having a panic attack and its afraid of him, his fury disappears. At some point he realizes he is not done with Tabitha; that he wants her back in his life and that he still has feelings for her. Now, he must convince her this time - it's their time to be happy.

“I love you,” I answer as I touch her cheek lightly. “I don’t know any other way to put it, but I can’t stop loving you. I want to share these moments with you and grow with you, Tabs. Please, let’s not waste any more time.”

Dear Tabitha is written in the past and present as Dear Emily was.

We get to see in detail some of Tabitha's past with her foster home life and with her life under Tony's imprisonment. In the present Tabitha is faced with some news that will change the course of her life. We are also able to appreciate her growth as a person - how she has changed for the better and has dealt with the abuse she has suffered.

In addition, we get some back story on Alex's life as a teenager.

If anyone deserves to be happy is this couple.  I was delighted with the conclusion of their story.
It was nice to read Carly and Kyle's cameos and how happy they are with Emily.
I know Seth is next. I already added his book to my TBR.

Frenched by Melanie Harlow

Frenched
Mia Devine was left almost at the altar. Her fiancée decides he is not sure he wants to get married just a week before the wedding.  Poor Mia is devastated. She is not sure if it is because of her feelings for Tucker or because she had planned the perfect wedding.

Her friends convince her she needs a change, and what better way than to take her honeymoon in Paris? Mia has always wanted to see Paris and she has a list of things she wants to do.

In Paris, she starts wallowing in self pity and goes to a bar to get drunk. This is where we first neet Lucas Fournier.
Lucas is spontaneous and irritates her at times. It doesn't help that the more time she spends with him the more she likes him.

What an awesome, sweet novel. It is a fun read - no major drama except for Mia's wedding cancellation, but once you start reading you realized that actually this is a good thing since Tucker didn't appreciate her.

Lucas is funny, sweet and HOT.  Their time together was wonderful and I want more.
I do feel like the ending was too abrupt and there is no way this is it. I mean, a second book is a must.

If you are looking for a flirty book without major angst, pick up this little gem now.

Play (Stage Dive #2) by Kylie Scott

Play
Anne Rollins could have a better day. When she gets to her apartment, she realizes her roommate is gone. Not only have her roommate's things have disappeared but she also won't see the rent money she owes her. So, when her neighbor invites her to a party where the Stage Dive group will be, she finds herself wanting the distraction. As a teenager she had a huge crush on their drummer, Malcolm Ericson.

Mal needs a good girl soon. He needs to pretend to have a girlfriend. When he overhears Anne's cellphone conversation he knows he has found the girl. He knows Anne needs money and he will be able to provide her with it as long as she goes along with his charade. The only problem is that she keeps on giving him those crazy eyes and he likes it too much.

Let's start by saying that Play is a sweet story.
Anne is funny and she is not the usual damaged girl except for a strained relationship with her mother. She loves her sister and she is a good friend.  She can understand Mal without too many issues. Even her jealousy is cute. She also can stand up for herself, even to a mean girl.

Mal surprised me. I love him in Lick. In this book he was sweet, funny, tender  but when he was hurting it made me feel so sad for him.

I'm glad this story has no triangle, no cheating and the best part : NO CLIFFHANGER.

I can't wait to read Jimmy and Lena's story and then Ben - hopefully with Anne's sister.

Favorite quotes:

“We’ve broken my bed,” I said, stating the obvious.
“In battle, sacrifices must be made, pumpkin.”

“Life’s a song, Anne. Let’s play.”

“C’mon, Anne. We must defend our fake sex life.”

"The first male to pee on me, however, would pay with his balls."

“I know you do, sweetie. I’ve seen the way you look at him.”

“Crazy eyes?”
“Yes.” She laughed softly. “Crazy eyes.”

~ Excerpt ~

Hop came out of the bathroom to see Lanie on her feet on the other side of the bed, panties on, hands twisted behind her back putting her bra on. Again.
He didn’t say a word. He prowled to her, reached out an arm the second he was close, yanked her to him and fell to his back in the bed, taking her down with him.
“Hop—” she started, pushing her weight against his arms, but he slid her off him then wasted no time rolling over her and pinning her to his bed.
“Sleep,” he ordered when he caught her eyes in the weak dawn. “After rest, I’ll get coffee, we’ll juice up, then round four.”
She blinked and breathed, “Four?”
“Got lots more I want to do to you,” he informed her and watched her eyes go soft, sexier, then her teeth came out to graze her lush lower lip, also fucking sexy, and her arms slid around him.
But she asked, “What about Tack and Ty-Ty?”
“I’ll make sure the coast is clear,” he told her.
“But they’ll see my car,” she told him.
“I’ll move it,” he offered.
Her hand slid up his back, around his shoulder, and then to his neck where her thumb moved to stroke him.
Her touch was light but, fuck, it felt good. He’d never had a woman touch him in an unconscious way like that, just a touch, a stroke, giving something that meant nothing at the same time doing it without thinking about it meant everything.
Shit.
Complicated.
“This is just supposed to be one night,” she reminded him quietly, but he saw it in her eyes. She didn’t even try to hide it. She’d bitten off more than she could chew.
He had too and he was nowhere near done eating.
She was cute. She was sweet. She was hot. She was better than he expected and he’d expected her to be pretty fucking good. All that wrapped in a package that gorgeous?
Yeah.
He was nowhere near done eating.
“Change of plans. A night and a morning and, maybe, an afternoon and, possibly, another night,” he amended, and her eyes got softer as her hand slid up to cup his jaw.
“I have to work,” she told him.
“Call off,” he told her.
“I can’t. I own the joint.” She explained something he knew, that she ran her own advertising agency. “And things are a bit crazy.”
Things were always crazy for Lanie. The woman lived crazy. She thrived on it. If there wasn’t crazy, she stirred it up because she couldn’t breathe without it.
“Babe,” he pressed his body into hers, “told you, got more I want to do to you.”

~ About Kristen Ashley~

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake. Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.  And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting b0etter.

~ Excerpt ~

As a standoff of epic proportions began between Chelsea and me. My hackles rose, and I knew I would never back down from her. I wasn’t a revengeful person, but as soon as someone starts hurting the people I care about and throwing around half-arsed accusations, they will see the wrath of Savannah. This could be the very reason I chose to have limited female friends. It was easier than having to deal with the bullshit games girls were notorious for starting, and clearly this was why I never hid my intentions when it came to men in the past. Be clear as day and no feelings came to the surface. I felt Mr. Davenport sigh beside me and I swallowed hard.Professional, Savannah. For him.
I still didn’t back down as I spoke. “So I am assuming the—”
“Um, excuse me? I was told that I needed to be here.”
Our heads snapped to the door opening slowly, and I couldn’t believe who I was looking at, could this day get any weirder? Blake freaking Ryan had just walked through the door looking all rock star-ish. This was the first time we had seen each other since he had left New York for London.
His eyes widened to the size of saucers as he took everything in. Dressed head to toe in black, he was wearing a shirt that sat snug against his body, and his tattoos were glistening under the boardroom lights. He was born to be a rock star.
His eyes bounced between Tate and me and dropped to my hand gripped tightly in Tate’s and a smile tugged at his lips. Tate’s body stiffened against mine and his hand squeezed mine to the point of hurt like he was making his claim on me.
“Stop it,” I hissed and shot him a pleading look.
“Sorry, just habit,” he whispered then peppered my jaw with a kiss.
“Thanks for coming in, Blake.” Mr. Davenport shuffled papers on the large conference table and looked towards Blake, holding out a pen and what looked to be a contract. “So you have been booked for the shoot next week and we are now just finalizing details. Savannah will be running the shoot on behalf of Beautify and Chelsea will be the female model for the campaign. If you can just sign here, we are good to go.”
Blake shook his head and shot a disgusted look at Chelsea. “Are you serious? I can’t work with her.”
“See? I told you, Savannah. Even Blake doesn’t want to work with you in your pathetic little fairytale world you are supposedly living in,” Chelsea spat before she threw her straw-looking hair over her shoulder and strutted towards Blake. I watched Blake closely; the look sweeping over his face was priceless.
“I wasn’t talking about Savannah, you idiot. I cannot work with you, Chelsea. I tend to not want to associate with fucked-up, conniving bitches.”
I couldn’t hide the smile of victory tugging on my lips. Blake Ryan, you genius. The look of utter devastation Chelsea was wearing made me feel like a million bucks. I still had no clue of the history that Chelsea and Blake shared.
“Well isn’t this going to be a fun shoot,” Mr. Davenport mumbled under his breath.
