Sting by Sandra Brown

Title: Sting Sandra Brown
AuthorSandra Brown
PublisherGrand Central Publishing
Release DateAugust 16, 2016

When Jordie Bennet and Shaw Kinnard lock eyes across a disreputable backwater bar, something definitely sparks. Shaw gives off a dangerous vibe that makes men wary and inspires women to sit up and take notice. None feel that undercurrent more strongly than savvy businesswoman Jordie, who doesn't belong in a seedy dive on the banks of a bayou. But here she is . . . and Shaw Kinnard is here to kill her.

As Shaw and his partner take aim, Jordie is certain her time has come. But Shaw has other plans and abducts Jordie, hoping to get his hands on the $30 million her brother has stolen and, presumably, hidden. However, Shaw is not the only one looking for the fortune. Her brother's ruthless boss and the FBI are after it as well. Now on the run from the feds and a notorious criminal, Jordie and Shaw must rely on their wits-and each other-to stay alive.

Miles away from civilization and surrounded by swampland, the two play each other against their common enemies. Jordie's only chance of survival is to outwit Shaw, but it soon becomes clear to Shaw that Jordie isn't entirely trustworthy, either. Was she in on her brother's scam, or is she an innocent pawn in a deadly vendetta? And just how valuable is her life to Shaw, her remorseless and manipulative captor? Burning for answers-and for each other-this unlikely pair ultimately make a desperate move that could be their last.

With nonstop plot twists and the tantalizing sexual tension that has made Sandra Brown one of the world's best-loved authors, STING will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the final pages.

#1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sandra Brown jolts the reader from the first page of this heart-pounding story of corruption, treachery, and ceaseless deception . . .where nothing is what it seems and every truth brought to light exposes a darker lie.

“The moment I laid eyes on you, your life was spared.”

After reading Sting I can only say.. What a perfect twist!!

I finished this book with a smile on my face. Sandra Brown has become one of my favorite writers. Her stories are full of intrigue and suspense with a dash of amazing.

The story centers around Jordan Elaine Bennet. Her brother Josh Bennet and her brother's boss Billy Panella have been under investigation due to multiple fraudulent schemes. In order to avoid prison, Josh becomes a snitch for the FBI. To keep him quiet, his ex-box sent two hitmen to kill him: Mickey Bolden and Shaw Kinnard.

What happens next, Jody can't believe it. She's kidnapped by Shaw after he kills Mickey. Shaw thinks he can get more money if he keeps her alive. He knows either Josh or his boss can pay more for her.

The last thing Shaw wanted was to find his mark attractive. One look at Jordie and Shaw wants to get to know her despite having a job to fulfill.  Shaw knows there is more to the story of the missing money but he's not sure if Jody is an accomplice or a simple bystander. He thinks she's hiding things from him. She's a complication he was not expecting. Killing her might not be as easy as he thought.

Of course, law enforcement in the form of two FBI agents: Wiley and Hickman are trying to find Jordie and Shaw before she ends up dead in a ditch. And here is where I stop giving info out. I want you to be surprised too.

Sting has a great plot and characters. Sandra Brown does a great job at keeping the story real and natural. It was a pleasure reading it. I knew once I started it, there was no way I was going to put the book down. Sting demands your attention and your time.

If you like suspense and romance, I strongly recommend for you to read it.

Still mouthy.

Cliffhanger: No

After writing so many reviews you start to know which ones are your favorite and least favorite to write. Over the years I’ve realized that my least favorite reviews to write are the thriller/suspense ones. As a reader I hate being spoiled before going into a book, (while I’m reading, searching for spoilers isn’t a problem), so I don’t want to write anything to spoil that for another person. And of course, suspenseful thrillers tend to be so intricate and webbed that it’s hard to say anything of substance without spoiling. So this review will be short and sweet… unlike the actual book, which was so twisted and gritty.

Sandra Brown is slowly making her way up to being one of my favorite authors, so I started STING before even reading the synopsis. I was not disappointed in going in blind.

Jordie’s brother is in big trouble. After rolling over on his criminal partner for immunity with the FBI, he escapes the safe house and is on the run. Now Jordie has no idea where her brother is, but she knows he’s warned her to be careful because people will use her to get to him. When she goes into a dive bar she doesn’t expect anything bad to happen, but as she’s walking out she gets cornered by two men.

One thing I’ve come to love about Sandra Brown’s books is the unexpected twists. I feel like I’m generally pretty good at figured out where a book is going, but I’m always stumped when I read one of her books. The twists and turns keep me glued to the pages and on the edge of my seat.

STING is the third book by Sandra Brown that I’ve read… and after this, I think I’ll go binge read the rest. She provides readers with the perfect reading experience.
