Ten years ago US Marine Sebastian Hunter was a teenager in love with a married woman—a woman who broke his heart.
Kicking his heels in a desk job in Geneva, he’s given the chance to get back to the action. Life just might be worth living again … until he meets the woman who broke him 10 years earlier.
Now she’s back, but he’ll do anything to keep her at arm’s length. Temptation doesn’t come much stronger, but he’d be a fool to fall for her again…
Caroline Venzi is a successful journalist, preparing to head out to report from the front lines of the war in Afghanistan. Love is the last thing on her mind when she crosses paths with Marine Sebastian Hunter.
Will this chance encounter reignite the erotic passion of their past?

I recently read the Education of Sebastian and The Education of Caroline. I honestly can say that I enjoyed reading Sebastian's POV a lot. It was like rereading The Education of Caroline but with so many more details. I loved being in Sebastian's head!
Sebastian has only loved one woman and her name is Caroline. She was his first love and no one has come close to what she made him feel. Ten years ago, they were forced to go their separate ways after their torrid affair was discovered. Sebastian felt betrayed and hurt. Seeing her again, makes all his past feelings resurface but he's also mad and angry at her. Yet, he doesn't want to lose this second chance with Caro. He's fighting an inner battle trying to forget and forgive in order to be able to move forward with her.
This is a very unique love story. It's full of up and downs, just like real life can be. I felt a kinship towards both characters. After everything they go through, they deserved that happy ending.
Sebastian's POV when he comes back from Afghanistan made me understand how messed up his head was and why he was acting the way he did towards Caro. Not that it was right, but it made me feel empathy for him and what he was going through.
Jane Harvey-Berrick sure knows how to write a story!
"Sempre e per sempre."

Sebastian and Caroline have completely stolen my heart. Semper Fi is essentially The Education Of Caroline in Sebastian's point of view. So we got Caroline's point of view now we get Sebastian's. Their story starts 10 years earlier in The Education Of Sebastian. If you don't know what Semper Fi means, it's short for Semper Fidelis, which means 'Always Faithful' in Latin. It is most recognized as the United States Marine Corps motto. Just by the title I knew I was in for a wickedly great read.
Sebastian and Caroline come face to face after ten years after their relationship tragically ended. They are both completely shocked when they see each other and neither one of them knows how to react. What do you do when the person you thought was your forever comes back into your life? Sebastian has been harboring so much anger towards Caroline for seven years and all of their memories come rushing back. But once he sees her he knows that their story isn't finished, and just like ten years ago their passion for each other cannot be stopped. This is the second chance that he was was never foolish enough to hope for. The only problem is that Caroline is a journalist who goes to the front lines for her stories and Sebastian is a United States Marine. They will both be putting their lives on the line very soon when they go on their new missions, Sebastian especially!
"I told you, Caro. It's only ever been you."
Sebastian is struggling with something that a lot of service men and women deal with and that's PTSD. Caroline is so strong the entire time. She is not giving up without a battle, and having lived her last ten years without him, she won't do it again. It was hard seeing Sebastian struggle the way he did! Having a sister and brother-in-law in the United States Marine Corps, I understand the struggles that soldiers face when coming back from deployment. Military life is not civilian life and it's hard to acclimate, so my heart went out to Sebastian.
The Education Of Sebastian made me fall in love with the 17 year old boy, but Semper Fi made me fall head over heels for the man! I had ALL. THE. FEELS! I now know where we got that 'tingling feeling' saying from, it came from reading books like this one! It started in my chest and ran all the way to my fingertips! This book is LOVE! I mean real earth shattering love! I wept when they were trying the feel out the relationship again, I wept when Sebastian was struggling with his body and mind, I wept when Caroline was coping with Sebastian lashing out, but I sobbed because I knew I wanted them together!
"Thank God for you, Caro."
"And you, Sebastian, semper fidelis."
They were indeed, always faithful.
Every time Jane Harvey-Berrick writes a book she kills me, figuratively of course. The writing is exceptional, the characters are perfection, and the story is absolutely spectacular! Pick up a Jane Harvey-Berrick book and you won't regret it!
