The Winter Long (October Daye #8) by Seanan McGuire

The Winter Long

I absolutely loved this one. I'm a Toby fan. She is smart, funny and her sense of loyalty is huge.
In The Winter Long, she finds herself fighting someone she thought it was her friend. No worries though, Toby will fight whomever is trying to hurt her or her family. Toby knows she needs to protect the people that she loves. This is also her chance to save the Luidaeg and when she does we realize Toby has so much more power than what she thinks she does.
I love that Toby is more mature, she asked for help when she needed it. She also saves Goldengreen and of course she has to save her liege Sylvester too. I'm not a fan of Sylvester anymore and I haven't been of Luna for a while. It seems like Luna is always using Toby and she might even hate her.
To my surprise I felt sorry for Simon Torquill. Poor guy, the geas really messed him up and his chances at happiness. I hope we get to see more of him.
I adore the Luidaeg, she is a force to be reckoned with. Her comment about Tybalt's pants had me laughing at loud.

“I wouldn’t,” said the Luidaeg. “Love is love. It’s rarer in Faerie than it used to be—rarer than it should be, if you ask me. If you can find it, you should cling to it, and never let anything interfere. Besides, he has a nice ass.” Her lips quirked in a weirdly mischievous smile. “I mean, damn. Some people shouldn’t be allowed to wear leather pants. He’s one of them. He’s a clear and present danger when he puts those things on. Or takes them off.”

Last but not least Tybalt was amazing. I love when he calls her "little fish". And the end, sigh, so freaking awesome.
Dying for the next book.

Cliffhanger: No
