Paradise City (Paradise #1) by C.J. Duggan

Paradise City

Lexie  Atkinson can't wait to move to Paradise City. She has been home schooled in rural Red Hill and now she has a chance to move to the city and attend the local high school with her cousin Amanda. They used to be very close as children.

Lexie will learn that sometimes having high expectations can only lead to disappointment.
Amanda is not happy to share her room or her school friends with Lexie. When Lexie tries to get into her good graces she ends up in detention instead.

Luke Ballantine is a surfer, a senior and popular bad boy. To Lexie's surprise he's also her detention partner. The more time the two are together, the more their attraction develops. But, when her uncle finds out she's told to stay away from him. If only it was as simple as that....

‘Beach bums?’

‘Yeah, you know? The sporty types. The surfing delinquents of society.’ She leant in.‘Not much between the ears but pretty good between the sheets is the saying.’

I love CJ's NA Summer series, so I jumped on the opportunity to read Paradise City.
I liked Lexie despite her having no impulse control at times. She kept on getting in trouble with things she could easily have avoided. For the most part she was trying to fit in and even though she was coming from a protected environment she was trying to survive the best she could.

Luke was just great! Bad boy with a good heart. He was sweet to Lexie and I love that he was not scared of their relationship going public. He truly seemed to have developed strong feelings for Lexie.

Can't wait to read their next book.

‘The truth is, if I’m with a girl, in the sea, in the car, in a bed or on a beach,’ he said, a wicked grin flashing, ‘it’s because I choose to be. Trust me, Lex, if my hands are on you, or inside you, it’s because I want them to be.’

Cliffhanger : Yes
