Denial by Lisa Renee Jones

Title: Denial
Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Series: Careless Whispers, #1
Release Day: November 24, 2015

Book one in the CARELESS WHISPERS series. This is a standalone spin-off of the INSIDE OUT series (soon to be a TV show) that follows Ella Ferguson, Sara McMillan's best friend.

Ella Ferguson awakes alone in Italy, unsure of who she is, and a gorgeous man has claimed her as his own. He’s tall, dark, and sexy, with money and power, the kind of man who makes a girl want to be possessed. And he does possess her, whispering wicked wonderful promises to her, stealing her trust and her heart. Soon though, the past finds her, yanking her from a cocoon of passion and safety. Everything is not how it seems. The truth will shatter her world, but it can set her free, if it doesn't destroy her first.

Lisa Renee Jones books are full of intrigue, mystery, and romance!

Denial is about Ella Ferguson, she is Sara Mcmillan's best friend from the Inside Out series. She is a strong woman who wakes up in a hospital bed in Italy with her memory gone and an unknown stranger looking after her. His name is Kayden and he wants to keep her safe. Ella recognizes something in him that makes her trust him.  But, Ella's life is in danger. Someone is after her which might include a mobster by the name of Niccolo. To make matters worse, the policeman investigating Ella's attack hates Kayden and nothing will please him more than to be able to hurt Kayden in any way possible.

Kayden is tall, dark, and dangerous and he wants Ella to remember. Her memories of who's after her are necessary to keep both of them alive. I felt like there was something else he wasn't telling her and just like that, this new series had me hooked.

There are many new characters in Denial. I'm still not sure who Ella can trust except for Kayden. Ella's flashbacks were intense and I still want to know who He is. The little I saw of Him he was hateful. I hope when we find out who He is, Kayden is able to obliterate him (unless he is Him).

"You will remember. That's an order."

Cliffhanger: Yes

I have not read any books by Lisa, but I thought this plot sounded very intriguing. Lisa did a great job of writing a fascinating story line that kept me hooked the entire time. However, there were some parts of the book that I thought were quite boring. I wanted more action and suspense, and sometimes I just felt like that fell flat.

The mystery plot of this book was what kept me so invested in this book. I needed to find out what was going to happen. I still have so many questions! I will be reading book two, because I need to know what will happen after the cliffhanger that this book ended on. Lisa did an amazing job at writing an addictive plot.

Kayden was extremely sexy and mysterious. I really liked his character, but he made me nervous. I wanted to trust him 100%, but part of me worried that he was hiding something big from Ella. Sometimes Kayden would make me uncomfortable with his alpha male attitude, but I learned to look past it. Overall, I enjoyed Kayden, but I want to see more development of his character before I completely fall in love with him,

This book was very sexy. Kayden and Ella had a lot of passion and chemistry. They had a very interesting relationship, and I am very excited to see it develop more in the next book.

Overall, I enjoyed this book! It was suspenseful and intriguing. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance novels with some mystery.

Ella wakes up one day to a beautiful stranger standing in front of her face.  She has absolutely no idea where she is or even who she is.  When she learns her beautiful stranger, Kayden, saved her from an attack that left her with a concussion, she’s left reeling about the events that led her to the hospital.

Kayden isn’t a hero. He’s involved with an organization called The Underground. He has secrets of his own that haunt him daily. When he realizes Ella needs his help and that she’s running from dangerous men, he stops at nothing to keep her safe.

When Ella begins having flashbacks of her past she starts questioning whom to trust.  But the more time she spends with Kayden, the more she feels connected to him.  When they act on their intense connection she finally feels safe for once. But is she sure she can trust him implicitly?

LOVED THIS BOOK! I was on the edge of my seat from the first page.  DENIAL does end in a cliffhanger and I’m (im)patiently waiting for the next book.

I always love books where the main characters have amnesia.  Ella has absolutely no idea who she is.  She slowly gets flashbacks of her past, which causes her more confusion.

Kayden is a bit of a mystery. He’s honest and trustworthy but still hiding some dark secrets.  He’s completely alpha and has that no nonsense attitude.

“Don’t move,” he orders. “Not until I tell you to.”

But I do.  I try to turn and he flattens his hand on my back.  Wait for me, sweetheart.  Trust me.”

Trust me. Those are the words that undom e and slam me with realization.  I need someone to trust and he needs to be trusted.  I know why this is true for me abut I do not know why it is true for him.  “I do,” I whisper, meaning it.  Right or wrong, I’ve gone too far with him to question what comes next.

Denial is a standalone but it is a spinoff of the Inside Out series. Now that I’ve read this I’m definitely going to go back and read it.  Lisa Renee Jones is such a fantastic writer.  I was so invested in Ella and Kayden’s story and I can’t wait for the next installment.
