About DIRE:
Dire: The Dire Wolves Chronicles
Gage was the first guy I ever wanted. He was my first crush and my first fantasy, but he wasn't my first in any other way because he never saw me as anything more than a friend— at least not until the night that changed everything.
It was all Gage's fault. He insisted we drive through the storm and take the back roads. By the time the storm hit full force we had no chance. One night of snowbound sex changed our relationship forever. The problem was at the same time I caught another guy’s attention. This other guy happened to be the alpha of a pack of shifter wolves. I thought the wolves were the worst of my problems, but I was wrong. When things went from bad to worse I had to make a lifelong sacrifice to save Gage, but what price is too much to save the one you love?

Review
After the cliffhanger ending of the last book, I could not wait to get my hands on Dusk. I was excited to see Gage and Mary Anne again. I was even kind of excited to see Hunter.
Mary Anne was still relatable and super sassy, which made me really happy. I loved how Mary Anne cared for everyone around her, even if they didn't necessarily deserve her kindness. I liked being introduced to Denny this book. I really hope to see more of his character in the next book.
While reading this book, I felt SO CONFLICTED. I have never been so torn about a love triangle in a book before. I flip floped between Gage and Hunter so much. After finishing the first book, I was Team Gage. However, I started to like Hunter in this book. I was not sure if I would ever like Hunter, but he kept doing things that made me love him...and hate him. Hunter mad me want to kiss him and slap him at the same time. He would be so sweet sometimes, but he then he was also way too controlling. I want Mary Anne to be with him, but at the same time I don't? Basically, I am conflicted about how I feel about him.
There was nothing I disliked about Gage in this book. He was as sweet and caring as ever. Plus, he is just so stinking attractive. I love him so much. He clearly loves Mary Anne, which is why I think I am still Team Gage.
"He brushed some of my now damp hair away from my face.
"I love you, Mary Anne."
"I love you too.""
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I don't know what it is about this series, but I am hooked. I couldn't put down this book because I was so consumed by it. I want Mary Anne to end up with Gage, but I don't want to see Hunter to get hurt either. I just want everyone to be happy and be with someone they love! I know that probably won't happen, but a girl can dream. Anyway, I am now anxiously awaiting the next book in this series!

Excerpt:
The light beckoned. It wasn’t white; it was more a combination of every color I’d ever seen. I was ready to accept it, to move on to a place of warmth, but then I heard her cry. I heard Mary Anne’s sobs, and every moment from the past few days flew through my mind. I saw her face. I felt her skin, her lips. I heard her voice begging for me. I couldn’t leave her behind.
I tried to push through the fog, but her voice only seemed farther away. The light got brighter and brighter until I knew I couldn’t hold it off. I tried to cry out to her. To let her know I didn’t want to leave, but my voice failed.
Just as I was ready to reach the light, I was hit by a searing pain like nothing I’d ever felt before. The light faded, and it was replaced by a darkness so complete it nearly overwhelmed me.
I tried to listen for Mary Anne, but I heard nothing. The only sensation was the pain pulsating through my body. It’s as though my blood was on fire. I tried to calm my body, to fight off the pain, but the intensity was like nothing I’d ever experienced before.
The pain finally began to subside, and I could hear, and almost feel, her heart beating. She had to be right next to me. I reached out, but my fingers only touched the frozen ground. I opened my eyes.
That’s when I saw her next to him. He had his hands on her. Hunter had his hands on my Mary Anne. Without a second to think, I jumped to my feet and growled.
I lost sense of everything as I prepared to lunge for Hunter, to push him away from the girl who was clearly mine. My body convulsed, and I lost all control. My vision deepened, and I leapt.
