Lola and Oliver like to congratulate themselves on having the good sense to not consummate their drunken Las Vegas wedding. If they’d doubled-down on that mistake, their Just Friends situation might not be half as great as it is now.
... Or so goes the official line.
In reality, Lola’s wanted Oliver since day one—and over time she has only fallen harder for his sexy Aussie accent and easygoing ability to take her as she comes. More at home in her studio than in baring herself to people, Lola’s instinctive comfort around Oliver nearly seems too good to be true. So why ruin a good thing?
Even as geek girls fawn over him, Oliver can’t get his mind off what he didn’t do with Lola when he had the chance. He knows what he wants with her now ... and it’s far outside the friend zone. When Lola’s graphic novel starts getting national acclaim—and is then fast-tracked for a major motion picture—Oliver steps up to be there for her whenever she needs him. After all, she’s not the kind of girl who likes all that attention, but maybe she’s the kind who’ll eventually like him.
Sometimes seeing what’s right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. And sometimes a dark wild night in Vegas isn’t just the end of a day, but the beginning of a bright new life...
Lola and Oliver are different. They got married in Las Vegas like their other friends did but they never consummated their marriage and got an annulment instead. Too bad this doesn't mean that their attraction for each other went away. Quite the contrary, they have become best friends and without realizing it, they support and need each other.
Lola's life gets complicated overnight. Her graphic novel has been published since she met Oliver and now a studio is wanting to produce her movie. She also has a deadline for another of her novels. And lately, being just a friend to Oliver is not what she wants.
Just after meeting Lola, Oliver was opening his new comic book store. He worked day and night making it successful. He had Lola's support through it all. Oliver knows he wants Lola in his life. However, he does know she is likely to run. So how can he make her his without scarring her?
I love Christina Lauren's books. Their stories are funny and sexy!
Oliver was another great addition to my book boyfriends. He was sweet, supportive, truthful, straight to the point, and very hot kind of guy.
I do have to say that there was a percent of the book where Lola disappointed me. I was not able to relate with her dilemma. Without her good friends and Oliver's patience I'm not sure she would have realized what she had.

Every time I read a Christina Lauren book I breeze through
it in one sitting. The writing and
fictional world is so brilliant that I feel like I’m right there living it.
Lola and Oliver got married in Vegas after only hours of
just meeting. They quickly annulled the
marriage but remained great friends.
Oliver just opened a comic book shop in San Diego and Lola’s comic just
got picked up to be made into a huge movie.
When they begin to act on the intense feelings they have for
each other it’s more than they expected it to be. But reality catches up and creates some
obstacles along the way. Will their
crazy connection and comfortable friendship be able to overcome with is thrown
at them?
“Being near him is like a dose of Xanax. I can’t help but be calmed.”
One again I have absolutely no complaints about a Christina
Lauren book. The writing is phenomenal humorous. I find myself completely captivated by the
characters and their flaws.
Lola has issues. Her
mom walked out on her when she was younger and she tries to keep her distance
from putting herself in that situation again.
Watching her growth with Oliver
is gradual and beautiful.
Oliver is the same.
He has issues from his father leaving him when he was younger. His patience with Lola while she works
through her problems is perfect. He’s
there, he’s attentive… he’s exactly what Lola needs.
Christina and Lauren write stories that hit the heart and
leave you breathless. If you haven’t
read anything by them yet you need to NOW! You won’t be sorry.
