Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward

Greta's illusions of meeting her stepbrother for the first time and becoming family are squashed to nothing when he enters her house for the first time.

“Physically, he was my dream and in every other way, my nightmare.”

Greta was not expecting Elec to be so handsome and intriguing. If only his words couldn't hurt her as much as they did. From the fist moment they meet, Elec is nothing but rude to her. His antagonism should be a turn off but she finds herself more interested in him, especially when she sees glimpses of vulnerability.
Just when things seem to be changing for the better, overnight he's gone, leaving in his wake a distraught Greta.
Years later when they meet again everything is different except the pull for each other.

“The “one that got away” was supposed to stay away, not come back and leave you all over again.”

What a great story! I'm always looking for Love-Hate relationships. It's always nice to see how the hater changes when he falls in love.

Elec was a very intriguing character. He had reasons for his rage and moody disposition. His sex appeal was out of this world and the mature Eric only got better.

Greta truly was a good girl trying her best to connect with Elec. To help him heal. I never felt like she was weak. I thought in a way she was determined.

The ending was just perfect.

“You’re the only girl in the entire world that’s forbidden, and fuck me if that doesn’t make me want you more than anything.”
