Once Upon a Royal Christmas
Colliding with a prince while walking four dogs isn’t how Rowan Palotay pictured meeting royalty, but then lately her life hasn’t gone according to plan. With one teensy tiny mistake, her job as a news reporter took a turn for the worse and now she’s lucky to have a small pet column in the local newspaper. Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and magic, but she feels like she’s forever stuck on the naughty list.Prince Theodore Chenery is in Marietta shortly after the death of his mother to meet his grandparents for the first time.
When an accidental run-in—literally—with Rowan leads to an unexpected friendship, he finds himself enchanted with the outspoken, feisty country girl. She’s unlike anyone he’s ever met and her special brand of kindness and honesty make it harder and harder to keep temptation away.
Giving into the passion and deep-rooted emotions between them, Theo and Rowan discover what matters most. But when their relationship makes worldwide news, Theo must decide whether or not to follow his heart or his royal duty.
After reading this book, I just want to put up Christmas decorations and drink hot chocolate! Once Upon a Royal Christmas was the perfect book to put me in the Christmas spirit! There were charming elements of the holiday that made a really romantic setting for the characters in this book.
The main female character, Rowan, seemed a bit childish at first. However, she turned out to be a kind-hearted and caring woman. I was happy to see her have a turn around in her attitude! I liked that she was snarky, but never overly snarky. A lot of her snarky comment made me laugh out loud! I thought her personality was the perfect balance to Theo. Theo was so swoon worthy and romantic. I liked that he never acted overly prince-like. Theo just seemed like a normal man with real thoughts and emotions.
The chemistry between Rowan and Theo was palpable! I thought they had a great connection, and their banter was hilarious. I thought their romance was pretty well paced considering it was the focus of this story. I found their romance to be very cute, even though their initial meeting felt a little forced. This book didn't really delve into in-depth emotions, but I was okay with that because I wanted a light-hearted romance. I felt like I was reading a fun and adorable Hallmark Channel holiday romance movie.
The plot of this book seemed to move quickly at times and then stall at other times. I definitely still enjoyed it as a whole, but I did feel like there were some slower moments in this book. I wouldn't say this is the most memorable romance book I have ever read, but it put a smile on my face!
Overall, this was a cute romance story that is perfect for anyone looking for a quick and fun read. The combination of Christmas, romance, humor, and Cinderella-esque ball created a charming story. I would love to see this made into a Hallmark movie! I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
