MrsNorthman's Review
I.LOVE.THIS.BOOK. It's been a few days since I finished and I still can't stop thinking about it. This is a truly unique story. Some parts are gritty, raw, and tragic, while others are swoon worthy and sweet.
Emma is starting over. A new job and a new apartment in a new city. Far away from her abusive step-dad and her older brothers that she wants nothing to do with. She moved into her apartment under the agreement that her kitchen cabinets would be replaced. When the handyman shows up he's not what she was expecting. David is mysterious and sexy, someone she just can't resist. She initiates a friends with benefits situation, but it isn't long before she has girlfriend status. They've both been hurt and broken, but together they are a perfect fit. It's such a strong connection they share. I just loved their banter over text, which had me laughing and swooning.
"I guess we are pretty great together. For a couple of fucked-up creeps, anyway."As David starts to reveal more about himself, Emma learns that he's been failed by the women in his past. She doesn't learn the extent of his hurt until she is faced with proving her love to him.
I found it impossible not to fall for David after seeing how he was with Emma. But, it was so sad and confusing to learn his secrets. It was such a mix of emotions! Days later, I still keep asking myself....why?!?! I really wanted Emma to be the one to change David. But, I'm going to have to wait for the next book to find out. There is a HUGE cliffhanger. I need the next book NOW!

MrsLeif's Review
Push took me by surprise. You know from the beginning what the story is about and where it's going to take you but it still can't prepare you for the cliffhanger.
The story starts with Emma Searfoss starting her new life. She has began a new job, in a new city and in a new apartment. As Emma's luck will have it, David is the handyman helping with remodeling her kitchen and he's also her neighbor. The more she interacts with David the more she learns that he's as much as a mess as she is. The women David has had in his life have all done a number on him. Saying he has been unlucky in the love department is an understatement.
Emma's upbringing hasn't been a bed of roses either. Since the moment her father dies and her mother remarried her life has been a true nightmare and her brothers instead of protecting her have both been jerks. David is the first one to want her and look out for her.
This book is written from Emma's and David's exes POV. You truly get to know both characters this way. I love David and Emma's banter. David was funny, smart and he was protective of Emma in the best way possible so the ending really made me think W.T.H!!!!
I can't wait to read the next book.
