~ Synopsis ~
They say it’s the quiet ones you have to worry about, and she was quiet, very quiet—when she wasn’t busy despising me with a burning passion.
Ringo ‘Ringer’ James has a no-strings-attached policy.
Love them, leave them, and remain the eternal bachelor.
After a summer in which every one of his mates has succumbed to settling down, or so it seemed, Ringer is on the lookout for a quick exit. Having had enough of the stomach-turning love fest witnessed over the past three months, Ringer jumps at the opportunity to help out his mate, Max, by heading to Max’s dad’s property for a working holiday.
It’s just what he’s looking for. A remote, dusty homestead in Ballan, with only hard work, a cold beer and a comfy bed to worry about – no women.
Until Miranda Henry.
The privately educated daughter of his boss has returned home from overseas and things are about to get very complicated, very fast. As summer draws to its end, Ringer is about to learn that sometimes attraction defies all logic, and that there really is such a thing as ‘enemies with benefits.’

Ringer is Book #4 in C.J’s mature young adult SUMMER SERIES, a series filled with intoxicatingly sweet romances and addictive, swoon worthy characters. The Summer Series is set in Onslow and it is here where you will meet the ruggedly handsome Onslow Boys - a group of men SO HOT in appearance and so likable in personality that’ll leave you craving MORE. Now imagine that, set it against a sizzling hot Australian background, fill it with good old Australian humor and there you have the Summer Series!
~ ML's Review ~
The novella begins with Ringer tired of all the "love is in the air" relationships around him. He is in need of a change in venue ASAP."Yeah, Onslow was beautiful; it was also bathed in romance. Sweet doe-eyed looks, hand holding, giggles, freakin’ sunshine and rainbows. It was enough to make your beer go flat."
When he finds out he can help his friend Max, he decides to leave Onslow and drive to Ballan and to Max's dad's property to help around.
To his surprise, the daughter of his temporary boss is acting like a spoiled brat and Ringer is not going to let her win this little war they have going on.
However, the more time he spends with her, the more he likes her even against his own will.
Miranda Henry is forced to go back home. Leaving Paris and going back to Australia is not what she wants. To makes matters worse, the new hired help keeps on making her do crazy things. One minute she wants to hit him and the next she wants to kiss him -- hard.
Oh my, Ringer, you were so good in this book. You are my new favorite Onslow boy (I'm sure I'll change my mind when I read Adam's book).
I do think you deserved a full novel, but I guess I will have to conform with what I got. Sigh!
I like how CJ handles the humor. I do believe the last chapter was so funny and I liked how it ends too. I do hope we see more of them in Adam's book. The only thing I will change about Ringer will be his smoking. Please quit, Ringer.
“Any girl who could nearly run me over, flip me off, tell me to eff off, drench me in cold water, stomp on my foot, push me in a dam, rip my favourite jeans, make me carry her handbag, attack me in my sleep, force me to hide under a car … and yet, still manages to make me fall in love with her?”
4.5/5 Fangs
