Second Chance Summer |
Lily Danville is back in Cedar Ridge after leaving the town behind ten years ago. Returning home is full of memories, most of them very painful. She left town to escape her loss but she also left behind her heart. Before she left she had her eyes set on handsome Aidan Kincaid. Now, that she's back home, she seems to keep bumping into him when she needs rescuing. Her attraction to him isn't making things easier for her. If only she could get rid of all the guilt she's carrying with her.
Aidan is a firefighter but in his spare time, he helps his family with their family resort and he also volunteers for the Search and Rescue team. There's always someone who think they can brave the mountains and survive them. He has seen many lives lost in trying but nothing could make him forget the loss Lily's family had ten years ago. When Lily left, she broke something in him. He has never wanted to settle down. But one look at Lily and he knows she has his future back in her hands.

I absolutely loved this book. Everything was perfect. From Lily and Aidan's love story to the siblings fights and sarcasm to the plenty of funny moments we are given. Jill Shalvis does a great job in character development!
Lily was full of survivor's guilt. She blamed herself for everything that went wrong a decade ago. She doesn't think she deserves happiness. Forgiving herself is something she needs and with the help of Aidan and Co, she can't fail. She was strong and determined. She goes back home when she needs help despite how painful coming back to Cedar Ridge is.
I love Aidan. He was dedicated to his job. He could be funny, sexy and a total alpha. The full package. His love for his family was never in question. His relationship with his friends was funny too. His mother was hilarious, she deserves a happy ending too.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Jill created so many characters I want to read about. It really is a no brainer for me.
