Rule (Marked Men #1) by Jay Crownover

Rule
Rule Archer is a tattoo artist. He goes through life without apologies.  He doesn't get along with his family after his twin brother Remy died. On the other hand, he has a great relationship with his older brother, Rome and has a great set of friends.

Every Sunday, he gets picked up by Shaw Landon for his family's Sunday lunch.  She usually finds him tangled up in bed with a female and sometimes with two.

Rule thought Shaw was her twin's girlfriend.  A preppy little rich girl that Remy "adopted".  What he doesn't know is that Shaw has loved him from the first moment she laid eyes on him. Rule treats her poorly and she keep on coming back for more until one Sunday she is done with the Archers, at least for a while.  She can't be their buffer any longer.  Shaw is also determined to let Rule go.

“The only difference between you and Remy was that he let people love him and you,”
“You have always been determined to make everyone that cares about you prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. You’ve never wanted to be easy to love Rule and you make damn sure that nobody can ever forget it.”

This only lasts until her birthday, plenty of alcohol, loss of inhibitions and a hot Rule come all together.

“True enough and opposites don’t just attract they freaking catch fire and burn the entire city down.”

Then, things are all different.  Rule finds himself wanting to spend time with sweet "Casper" and he discovers the true Shaw.  At some point, he decides to become what he thinks she deserves which is NOT what Shaw wants.  Shaw has always liked the no rules Rule. She loves him with all his tattoos, t- shirts and mohawk.  She doesn't care what color his hair is or how many piercings he has. If she could just make Rule understand this.

“Because it’s always been you even when I didn’t want it to be, even when it broke my heart over and over again. It’s just always been you.”

I have had this book on my TBR for a long time. Now, that Rome is coming out next month, I decided to give Rule a chance. I want to hit myself in the head.  I LOVE Rule and Shaw.  He is a true alpha but he is damaged too.  His relationship with Rome is awesome (Rome is going to be a must read for me). I love how he matures through the book thanks to Shaw's love.  He doesn't change his true character, just lets love heal him.  I definitely recommend this one.

“You have me Shaw, any way you need me, any way you want me, you have me.”

Shaw is pretty awesome too. She is a very likable heroine. So are her friends.

“I almost saw your boyfriend naked this morning.”
I laughed at the look on her face. “I don’t know what to say to that, you’re welcome?”

A super strong 5/5 Fangs.
