Catch Me by Claire Contreras

Catch Me
Brooklyn is in her twenties.  She has her own company. She makes microphones for musicians and her little company is evolving. She also works for her father, or better to say that when her dad calls, she says when.

Brooklyn's father is the famous owner of Harmon Records and he calls to tell her that he needs her in New York and she will need to relocate from L.A. immediately.

Waiting for her father's jet turns up to be a shock. When the plane lands she is confronted with her old flame and ex- lover Shea.  Shea is a sexy musician but she knows he is not a one woman's guy. She left him for good a while ago and now they are just friends. Next to Shea is a tall and handsome guy, his name is Nick "Shadow" Wilde.  She can't stop staring at him.  Too bad she still has to leave and board the plane.

"you look up the definition of hot men, you'll find Nick. No joke."

Fate is on their side and they meet again at a club and later on at her brother's company were Shea is making his next album.
Nick pursues Brooklyn but he also tells her he won't share her. Nick and Brooklyn had a connection that even she doesn't remember.
Amazing how lives can be intertwined!

“Yeah, forever,” Nick says, his voice causing me to turn and look up at him. He’s looking at me as he speaks. “She seems to think that running off and leaving me heartbroken is a good idea, so I decided that I’m going to take her home with me every single day to remind her that my heart beats only for her. That my day starts with her running through my mind and ends with her sleeping in my arms.”

I love Nick. I thought he was real. He didn't make crazy demands or have some crazy past.  He has a great family (I wonder if we'll get new books about the brothers).
Brooklyn has a great relationship with her brother Hendrix and her cousin Nina.  I like both of them and I want to see them happy.

“Listen,” Nina starts with an attitude, letting go of me and standing up to place her hands on her hips. “Men are fucking stupid. That’s why they think women are complicated. Women want three things. Three simple things: Keep your dick in your pants. Be honest with us. Worship us. That’s it. That’s all. You motherfuckers can’t do all three without getting your brain mixed up. She cannot call him because she is the woman and he should be groveling at her feet and kissing them while he’s down there. Fuck him. Fuck you. Fuck all men. I’m taking an oath right now and writing all men off.”

Shea also stole some page time.  He definitely needs his own book.

I had mixed feelings about Brooklyn's parents. Her mother just seems cold and her dad didn't listen.
