Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements 0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Bitter Sweet Love
Published December 1st 2013 by Harlequin Teen

This is a prequel novella in the new series The Dark Elements.

The novella begins with the introduction of Jasmine. Jas is a Gargoyle Warden. Her destiny is to mate and procreate. The males fight demons.

Jas longs to fly and wishes she could have freedom to do as she pleases.

She suffers from a broken heart. Three years ago she had everything. She had her best friend Dez with her. She was in love with him. Her father had announced his desire for them to mate. Her life changes dramatically the next morning when Dez is gone without a goodbye.

Now, Dez is back and wants to reclaim her as his mate. Jasmine doesn't know if she can forgive him and his sudden disappearance. She can't trust him anymore. She does have seven days to accept or deny his petition.

“Oh, I don’t know, I might be able to grasp an explanation if you speak slowly and use small words.”

Jas is a smart girl she proposes that Dez does everything that she wants for the next few days, kind of a Gargoyle's bucket list.

They embark on a trip and then...... well don't think I'm going to tell you. You need to read it.

JLA is my favorite author. I have followed her through Daemon, Aiden, Seth, Cam, soon to be Jase. She has the ability to write different genres with different worlds. I'm hooked on this new mythology already!

In regards to the characters, I thought Dez was interesting, he is a fighter, he cares for Jas deeply. There is so much more that I would like to know about him. He has secrets and I want in.

JLA also gives us a little cameo of the couple from the first book- Layla and Zayne, but the one that intrigues me is Roth.

“Nothing in this world is stronger than love. It should always be enough, no matter what.”

I sure hope to see more of Jas and Dez in the next book. I wonder what will happen with Jas's sister.

I love Jennifer's books. I would recommended them any time, any day.

4.5/5 Fangs
