Marz was playing with fire. He damn well knew he was. But that didn’t make him want to pull away.
He just wanted more of the heat.
Marz nuzzled the side of Emilie’s face with his nose, his lips. She turned her face toward him and offered her lips. He couldn’t refuse.
Capturing her mouth on a tortured groan, Marz poured every ounce of his longing and confusion and desire into the kiss. They grasped at each other and Emilie turned in his arms. He pinned her against the railing and planted his hands in her hair. She opened to him and accepted his tongue, sucking him in until Marz’s blood ran hot and his hard-on ached. He ground himself against her and devoured every little moan and whimper and gasp she spilled.

Through the thin material of her blouse and bra, he mouthed and flicked at her nipple. He shifted the deep vee of the neckline to reveal a lacy royal blue bra. He tongued her through the lace until she was panting and moaning and writhing against the railing.
“Oh, my God,” she rasped as he shifted her shirt and moved to her other breast. This time, he tugged the lace down to bare the deep pink of her nipple. She tasted and smelled like something fruity and sweet, and it made Marz hunger for more. “Derek,” she gasped. “Yes, yes, yes.”

But at least he is alive, right? They lost many more in that operation and now a year later he's helping the survivors of their team find a way to clear their name and get the people responsible for so much death to pay for it. As part of their new plan, he's asked to get closer to the sister of a suspect.
Emilie Garza is a phycologist. She has a great relationship with her family, except with her brother whom lately, she doesn't recognize anymore. She thought it might have been due to PTSD after a few tours in the middle east but lately, she isn't sure anymore. His behavior is erratic and she worries about him. When she meets Derek, he makes her forget about her problems. Their instant connection amazes her. She has some trust issues after her ex-husband betrayed her but Marz seems to be so open but when lies are revealed it might be too much for Emilie to handle.
I have come to love this series. The characters are very well written. I want to be part of the Hard Ink Crowd and their land of misfits. There is even a cute 3 legged dog, Eileen.
Even though, the love story is between Marz and Emilie you get a lot of new developments affecting the whole group. I got misty eyes a couple of times and cried at least once. That's how powerful Mrs. Kaye's writing is. It's impossible not to love Marz (which I loved from the first time meeting him). He is a true Good Guy. He didn't grew up with family but his team and their girls are his family now. He also doesn't hide his feelings from his girl or his team. He has a great sense of humor and he dealt in a positive way with his amputation.
Emily was sweet, smart and truthful. When the time came to step up to the plate, she didn't hesitate.
I know Jeremy's novella is next. I'm guessing Charlie is his HEA.
I can't wait for Beckett and of course Ike Young, the MC guy.
