Laura is done with her marriage. She married Marcus years ago to save her family. Marcus has made her life miserable by making her look like his dead wife since the moment they married. He even changed her name to Gwendolyn, his dead wife's name. Laura has reached a point of no return. She is done and seeks the help of her brother Jeremy to help her get out. Jeremy asked his ex-army buddy Bowie for help.
Bowie is the Vice President of the Savage Outlaws MC. When his friend asks him for help, he can't deny him. He has wanted to meet Laura for a while (Jeremy used to show him pictures of her during their time in the army) but when he picks her up, what he sees in front of him is not the woman he had dreamed about. Later, after months of healing, when they meet again he knows she is the woman he needs in his life.
This was a good MC book. Emily Minton built a new MC world with interesting characters. Laura/Gwendolyn/Shay's ordeal felt real to me. She needed help and when she couldn't take it anymore she's smart enough to know it. You might think she stayed too long with a bad man but in real life, abuse can happened for years before someone breaks the cycle.
I love Bowie's determination to get to Shay and make her part of his life. He was very alpha and possessive but at the same time he was never abusive.
Again, great start to a new series.
