MrsLeif's Review
Jaxon Trent hasn't had a normal upbringing. We know from prior books what a mean and dangerous man his dad is. He was lucky to survive in the environment which surrounded him. Now, he's older, more mature and a wizard with a computer. He works for Fallon's dad doing things not so legal. The money is good and has improved his life, home and his cars. The one thing missing is K.C. Carter, the girl who wouldn't give him the time of day back in high school.

KC is back in town doing community service at her old high school as a tutor. She made mistakes and now she's paying for them. Her mother refuses to help her, but luckily Tate is there for her.
KC can't believe it when she realizes she is living next to Jax, the kid that always made her feel things she didn't want to feel. The kid is now gone and the only thing left is a man. A very desirable man. Avoiding him is going to be tougher that she thinks.

I love Penelope's Fall Away series and I was so happy I was able to get my hands on Jax early.
Jax and KC had to overcome some very awful situations growing up. To me KC was too forgiving to her mother. Jax's dad on the other hand is unforgivable.  My heart was hurting while reading about Jax's childhood, despite having some knowledge of his ordeal from prior books.

Falling Away shows you how two very damaged individuals can complement each other and love can conquer all. Jax never forgot KC and when the time came to show her, he certainly did.
KC was a surprise to me. She was not my favorite character in prior books but she won me over. I was rooting for them to make it and when she gave herself to him, she was all in.

"Only. Ever. You. Jaxon Trent."

Now I'm impatiently waiting on Tate's novella.

MRSALCIDE'S REVIEW
As we all know from previous books in this series, Jaxon Trent has not had the typical upbringing.  Living with an abusive father his childhood was a nightmare.  Now, several years later, Jax is always one step ahead.  He’s a computer genius and always knows what’s going to happen before it happens.  Jax has wanted K.C. from the moment he first saw her.

K.C. is home from college for the summer doing community service at her old high school.   Growing up with her mother, she has always tried to be the “perfect” daughter.  Nails done, hair done, proper clothes and never saying anything inappropriate.  K.C. hides a secret.  This summer she realizes she wants to be different.

“I don’t want to be okay,”  I countered.  “I want to be off the rails, Jax.  I want to fight and scream and rage and lose myself.  I want to be hungry.”  I dropped my voice to a whisper as I looked out the windshield.  “I want to be a mess.  For once.”

Falling Away is my favorite book of this series.  The scenes were hot and the dialogue was entertaining.  And I loved watching them both overcome their nightmare of a childhood.   I loved seeing more of Jared, Madoc, Tate and Fallon as well.  I cannot wait to read the next novella about Jared and Tate.

MrsDaemon's Review
Falling Away was a great addition to The Fall Away series. I am so glad I decided to read this book. I went into this book with high expectations, and it did not disappoint. The book was filled with passion, drama, romance, and personal growth. Penelope Douglas did an amazing job of creating characters that I truly cared for.

I loved how Jaxon and K.C. both had personal issues, and I got to watch them overcome their issues and slowly open up to one another. They had some intense moments, but they seemed realistic and it made their relationship stronger (in my opinion). I enjoyed everything about this book and I cannot wait for the new novella!

The reason I gave it a 4.5 instead of a 5 was because I wish they would have be an official couple sooner, but that might just be the hopeless romantic coming out in me.

"Only. Ever. You."

This is a story about finding that one person that makes you look at the world in a different way. The one that can see the real you through it all. Jax and K.C.'s story is full of heartbreak, drama and of course, hotness! I have a serious crush on Jax.

What Jax did at the end of Rival really surprised me and only made me more excited for his story. I've loved the dynamics between him and Jared all along and couldn't wait to see where his story would take us. From the previous books in the series, we know that Jax hasn't had a great life. His mother abandoned him, forcing him to live with his abusive, loser father. It's amazing to me that even after all he went through to survive, he walked away with such a huge heart. Jax is protective, demanding and so sexy.

K.C. and Liam have broken up and she's back in Shelburne Falls living at Tate's house for the summer. Jax is living right next door. He's always had a thing for K.C. and was never really shy about it. He teased her and flirted relentlessly throughout high school. But she always had Liam to hide behind. But, not anymore.

On the outside it appears that K.C. has it all together. But as more of the story unravels, it's pretty clear that she hasn't been living her life for her. Her mother's unrealistic expectations and shocking abuse, has left her insecure and weak. Somehow, Jax can see through it all to the real K.C.. To Juliet. It's a struggle for them to make things work in the beginning, but it's HOT. They have an intense connection that made it hard to put this book down.

"You piss me off, you make me cry, you make me crazy . . . but you make me better, Jax."
