Becca Merritt needs help. Someone has kidnapped her brother and the only help she can get is from her father's ex military man. She goes in search of him to his new place of work, the Hard Ink Tattoo.
The last thing Nick Rixey wants is to have his ex commander's daughter in his life. The commander caused enough trouble for him and his mates. He turns Becca away but just to have a clear conscience he follows her. When her life is in danger he decides to step up and protect her. Bringing her back to his home is what his instinct is telling him. He also knows he can't fight alone. Reuniting the team is the only way to survive.
I read Hearts in Darkness and I loved it. I know she is coming out with her second book in the Hard Ink series so I read this one in one afternoon.
Let me start by saying that I love Nick. He is definitely an alpha with a heart of gold. All the scars and pain he carries only makes him more attractive to me. He is good to his brother. He takes Becca in when he realizes there is true danger.
I also like the rest of the team. Laura has tons of material to write more books about this crew.
Becca was excellent too. She didn't whine. She didn't hold grudges. She didn't play games.
The best part is there is no cliffhanger and there is no cheating. Just perfect.
“I love you,” she said. “I want you to remember my voice saying this while you’re out there tonight. I love you.”
He stroked her hair and kissed her temple. “I could never forget.”
