Ultra wealthy and super powerful, the King family is like royalty in Texas. But who will keep the throne? New York Times bestselling author Katee Robert introduces a red-hot new series.

THE MAN SHE HATES TO LOVE

Beckett King just inherited his father's fortune, his company-and all his enemies. If he's going to stay on top, he needs someone he can trust beside him. And though they've been rivals for years, there's no one he trusts more than Samara Mallick.

The rebel. That's how Samara has always thought of Beckett. And he's absolutely living up to his unpredictable ways when he strides into her office and asks for help. She can't help wondering if it's a legit request or just a ploy to get her into bed. Not that she'd mind either one. After all, she likes to live on the edge too.

But soon the threats to the King empire are mounting, and the two find family secrets darker than they ever imagined and dangerous enough to get them both killed.

The Last King was an addictive and sexy new romance novel. This book started with a steamy and passionate start and it never lost that momentum! This story was a fast read that kept me very entertained!

The two main characters, Beckett and Samara, were interesting and well-developed characters. Samara was a bit abrasive at first, but I could tell that Samara was using that as a front to hide something. As Samara revealed more about herself and her past, it was easy to see why she had walls up. I liked that she was never afraid to speak up and express herself, but I was glad that she learned to open up and be more understanding. She was a devoted and smart woman that I really grew to love! Beckett was a charming, determined, and suave man. He definitely oozed sex appeal, but I wasn't sure if I was going to like him due too how cocky he was. However, he turned out to be an endearing, protective, and understanding man. It took some time for me to warm up to him, but I ended up liking him a lot by the end of the book.

One thing that bothered me about Beckett was that there were a few times that he said some things that came off as sexist. However, Samara called him out on it EVERY TIME, which made my heart explode with joy. I was glad that Samara helped him eventually become a more accepting person.

The romance between Beckett and Samara was full of passion and steam. Right from the beginning, it was easy to see that the physical chemistry between Beckett and Samara was explosive, but they had a lot to work through. There were a lot of obstacles that they had to overcome, which usually made me want to pull my hair out due to stress and frustration! I was never sure if they would truly be able to make their relationship work, but they were able to prove me wrong.

Overall, this book was a fun escape that I would recommend to anyone looking for a sexy romance book!
