"Sociopaths are coldly, almost blindly, logical."

From the first chapter, I knew this book was going to be good!

The Vanishing Year had the perfect combination of suspense, drama, and psychological madness, all wrapped in one tight bundle.

When the novel begins, Zoe Whitaker is happily married. She's getting ready to attend a society charity event. She volunteers for CARE, Children's Association for Relief and Education, and tonight's event is the culmination of her hard work with the foundation.

Zoe loves her life. She loves that she has a caring and supportive husband. She's even thankful of his constant supervision. However, Zoe is hiding her past from him. Five years ago, Zoe didn't exist. Her name was Hilary and she was a lost soul. She escaped to New York from California. Adopting a new life was her only way to survive. But, not everyone has forgotten her. Someone has recognized her and is following her. Either they are trying to scare her or worse ....kill her.

The novel is narrated from Zoe's POV. We get flashbacks from her past life and the reasons for leaving it behind. Her life has not been easy and just when she thought she had it all, everything starts crumbling apart. She learns the hard way you can't trust everyone.

If I can say anything about Zoe is that she was persistent. When an idea entered her mind, she wouldn't let it go. She was strong and she was ready to fight back. Of course, she couldn't do it alone. Here is where Cash enters. Cash is a reporter for the Post. He was doing a piece on the charity event when Zoe's life started unraveling. I love Cash. I fell guilty about liking him when Zoe clearly adored Henry.

Even though I guessed the twist at the end, It didn't affect the pleasure of reading this novel. The writing was addictive, fast-paced and nerve wrecking! It had me dying to jump to the end to see how the story was going to play out.

Kan Moretti has been added to my thriller writers addiction.
