Fixed On You |
Alayna Wither had some obsessive tendencies. She tries to keep her mind occupied but now that she got her MBA, she won't have school to distract her. She is in a relationship with a guy that she knows she doesn't love but he is "safe". He doesn't arise any of her triggers.
Laynie is a bartender at the Sky Launch Nightclub. She has every intention of becoming one of the managers. Too bad the club was just bought.
"Safety" is gone when the new owner walks into her life. The new owner is none other than Hudson Pierce, business mogul with a dark past too.
Alayna should avoid him like a pest but she can't say no to him. This will make her vulnerable again.
Hudson has a proposition for her and Laynie doesn't turn him down, despite knowing this could break her.
This is a darkish book, it deals with obsession and what is healthy and what is not. Maybe two damaged people can heal each other. Maybe....
The story is not done and we do have a couple of evil/semi-evil characters. I felt bad for Alayna, she has had a tough life and she is only 26. Hudson surprised me. He can be sweet and thoughtful (coffee scene). He is very redeemable. I did have a hard time connecting with Alayna, maybe because my obsessive behavior is limited to books, chocolate and Nutella. I will read the second book, I want to know how it ends.
“I’m drawn to you, Alayna. Not because I want to hurt you or make you feel a certain way, but because you’re beautiful and sexy and smart and, yes, a little crazy, maybe, but you’re not broken. And that makes me hopeful. For me.”
