Hometown Cowboy by Sara Richardson

Today we are celebrating the release of HOMETOWN COWBOY by Sara Richardson. This is the first book in her brand new series, Rocky Mountain Riders. You can buy it now and pre-order the next book in the series, Comeback Cowboy!

NEVER FALL IN LOVE WITH A COWBOY

Jessa Mae Love is done with relationships. No matter how tempting he might be, she cannot--will not--fall for a man like Lance Cortez. The outrageously handsome cowboy is practically a living legend in Colorado, as famous for riding bulls as he is for breaking hearts. What would a big-time rodeo star like him see in a small-town veterinarian who wears glasses, rescues animals, and cries when watching rom-coms? Turns out, plenty.

Raising bulls, riding the circuit, and looking after his ailing father--Lance never stands still for long. Yet Jessa catches his attention, and the more she tries to resist him, the more he wants her. When she agrees to move to the ranch to keep an eye on Lance's dad, Jessa tells him they have to keep it professional: no flirting, no sweet talk, and definitely no kissing. But with Jessa now living under his roof, that's easier said than done . . .

Her eyes fell shut and blocked out everything except for the feel of his mouth, the curve of it, the wet warmth, the way his lips melted into hers. They were firm, but tender, too, so skilled and wonderful it broke open her chest.
Heat flowed in until she was dizzy with it, drowning in it, but just as she lost the power to stand on her own, Lance’s hands moved to her hips and hitched her closer to his body. She let herself lean into him, sliding her hands up his ripped chest, lightly sweeping her fingers over the bandage. God, he was perfection.
His lips moved to her ear, while his fingers carefully brushed her hair out of the way. “I think you’re right,” he breathed. “My life might never be the same.” His tongue traced the ridge of her ear while his heavy breaths grazed her neck and made her legs falter.
He must’ve felt her wobble, because he wrapped his arms around her and crushed her body against his. “Damn, Jessa…” He kissed his way down her neck. “You smell good.”
“Vanilla sugar shower gel,” she gasped, letting her head tilt to the side.
“Mmmm. I like it.” He slid his tongue back up her neck and his lips found hers again. This time he kissed her harder, like he wanted more.
Yes. More. There could be so much more…
Lance shifted, guiding her until her back was against the refrigerator. Things were falling, magnets and papers, but none of that mattered because Lance was pressed against her, his tongue stroking hers, his hips grinding against her body. The feel of him hard and desperate against her sent her heart spiraling. A frantic moan escaped, and Lance smiled against her lips. She let her head fall back so she could draw in a breath, but she hit the refrigerator.
A loud crash froze her. Lance pulled away. Those bottles of Jack Daniel’s that had been on top of the fridge now lay next to their feet.
“At least they didn’t break.” Lance started to laugh but she pressed her hand against his mouth. “It’s not funny! What if your dad—”
“What in god’s name is that racket?” came from down the hall.
“Oh no,” she hissed. “Oh god…”
Lance still had a big silly grin on his face. “It’s nothing, Dad,” he called, but the man came charging around the corner anyway.
Jessa pushed back and pretended to inspect the bandage. “Well, there we go. Everything looks good.” She glanced up and forced a smile, but she’d like to bet he could see the vein in her forehead pulsing. “Hey, Luis. Sorry about the noise. I was bandaging Lance up and we accidentally knocked over the bottles.” Her bright red face had to be a dead giveaway that the whole sentence was a lie. Not to mention her dilated eyes.
“Uh. Thanks, Jessa,” Lance said, reaching past her for his shirt.
“No problem,” she intoned, as if answering a complete stranger. “Next time, don’t wait so long to get it cleaned up.”
A spark smiled in his eyes. “I definitely won’t.”
Whew. She fought the compulsion to fan her face with a towel.
“Guess I should get going then.” Lance clapped his dad’s shoulder on his way out the door. “Night Pops.”
Luis didn’t respond. He simply watched his son leave, then he turned to Jessa. “So nothing’s going on between you two.”
She invoked her laser focus to put away the first aid supplies. “Uh-huh. Nope. Nothing.”
“From what I could tell that was a whole lot of nothing,” Luis muttered as he plodded back down the hall.
That was one way to put it. A whole lot of nothing.

The years had only made him sexier, engraving the wise lines of experience into the corners of his hazel eyes. Eyes that somehow still smiled, even with all he’d been through. He left his bronze hair a bit longer these days, so that the ends of it fringed the tops of his ears. It was still thick and luscious, but it was his smile that had lured her in and stayed with her all these years. His smile spoke.

A familiar tremble tightened her hands into fists. A tremble that spoke to the way her fear fused with anticipation at being so close to him, at having felt his arm slide around her waist so easily back on the highway.

The encounter had struck her hard—an electrical current splitting her into two different people—the woman who wanted to be wrapped up in him again and the girl he’d once left behind. The girl who’d made mistakes but righted them all on her own. The girl who’d grown up overnight. The girl who still feared his power over her.

Because she couldn’t do it again. She couldn’t let herself feel a connection with him only to have him disappear for another ten years. She couldn’t risk revealing everything to him.
She blinked, realizing that she’d been staring at him too long.

Not that he seemed to mind. His lips simply quirked in the corners as though he was enjoying it.

One Christmas Wish
by Sara Richardson

Title: One Christmas Wish
Author: Sara Richardson
Series: Heart of the Rockies#2.5
Release Day: Nov 3rd

'TIS THE SEASON FOR SECOND CHANCES...

There's nothing like a Christmas wedding to warm a girl's heart—or to distract everyone else from the fact that one particular bridesmaid intends to quickly skip town. Julia Noble's accident was years ago, and she's tired of being overprotected. She needs to be on her own. But before she flees Aspen, Colorado, Julia wants to make sure her brother has the perfect wedding and all her ducks are in a row. Yet duty soon turns to pleasure when three days before the big day Julia runs into the only man she ever dreamed of marrying.

Fresh out of the navy, Isaac Nash just wants to feel normal again. But starting his new life means winning back the girl who captured his heart years ago. Isaac didn't know the truth behind the tragedy that changed Julia's life forever, and he can't stop blaming himself for not being there for her. After all this time, he knows that Julia is what he wants, this and every Christmas. Now Isaac just has to convince her that she's earned a miracle, too.

One Christmas Wish was the perfect way to get me into the Christmas spirit.

I loved Julia's character in Something Like Love, and I was so excited for her novella.
It starts with Julia attending Ben and Paige's engagement party and this is where she rekindles her relationship with Isaac. She has known Isaac for her whole life until her accident. He left town and now twelve years later, time has only been good to him.

Isaac is shocked to see how much Julia has matured. He couldn't care less she is in a wheelchair. He had a thing for her for a long time ago, but he tried to stay away from her because of Ben. Now, he wants to spend time with her.

This was a sweet story with great main characters. Julia and Isaac made a great couple and they supported each other with Isaac respecting her need for independence.

Cliffhanger: No

4/5 Fangs

Julia didn’t scare easily. Having seventeen surgeries makes a person pretty tough, but being trapped in an elevator with Isaac Nash made her hands tremble. She struggled to push the button for floor 3 under the watchfulness of his eyes.
When he didn’t move, she glared up at him. “Let me guess. You’re staying on the third floor, too?”
He only grinned. “Sure am.”
The doors rolled closed and she had this sense of the walls pressing in on her. He had such a commanding presence. The elevator didn’t have enough space for him and her inflamed heart.
The contraption started to grind up, up, up, but then Isaac reached across her and slapped the Stop button. The elevator shuddered, then halted, lurching her stomach into her throat.
“What are you doing?” she squeaked, her heart taking off and orbiting around her chest again. She couldn’t be this close to him. Couldn’t stare into those eyes.
“Who was on the phone?” he asked casually.
“That’s none of your business.” She tried to sound outraged instead of nervous. Because he had her body in total disarray. Mercy. She had to get out of here. Before he realized how much he made her squirm. She raised her hand again, but he blocked her access to the number buttons.
“Why’d you tell them you have a husband?”
“Like I said. None of your business.” She considered shoving him to the side, but the man was as solid as an oak.
“Tell me who was on the phone and I’ll get the elevator going again,” he taunted.
A cloud of heat closed her in. Okay. She had no choice. She had to get out of here. ASAP. “It was a woman who breeds dogs.”
“Dogs,” he repeated.
“Yes. They breed golden retrievers and train them to assist people in wheelchairs. These dogs are very sought after.” If he must know. “I’ve been hoping to get one for months.” Ever since she’d first had the idea to leave. She knew she didn’t want more hired assistants. She truly wanted to be on her own. While doing research, she’d found out about these specialized mobility assistance dogs that were trained to turn on and off lights, to get things off the counter, to retrieve shoes out of the closet. They could even help you get dressed. She knew that was exactly what she’d need in Dallas.
“So you’re getting a dog?” Isaac leaned against the doors as though settling himself in.
“The woman called and told me they selected my application.” She eyed the number buttons. If she moved lightning-fast, she might be able to hit one before he could react. Though he had been trained as a SEAL. Sighing, she gave in to her fate. “She said I can pick up the dog in Leadville tomorrow.”
“Great,” Isaac said, as though genuinely happy for her.
Yes. It was. Almost. “Except they assumed I was married. Apparently it says on the application they only adopt their dogs out to couple or families. In case something happens to one of them.” So single people need not apply…
Isaac’s head slanted as though considering that. “So you and your husband are supposed to go pick up the dog tomorrow.”
“I don’t have a husband,” she reminded him. Though she supposed Theodore Mosley was available on short notice….
No. No. She did not need a man to help her with this. “I’ll just take Mother’s car service over there. And I’ll tell them I’m not married.” Though the woman had sounded adamant. We can’t wait to meet you and your husband, she’d said. He is coming, isn’t he? We like to know our dogs are going to wonderful homes…
“I’ll take you.”
She flinched, sending the wheels of her chair bumping into the elevator’s back panel. “What?”
“I’ll take you to Leadville. Pretend to be your husband,” he offered with a shrug that said it was no big deal.
Had he lost his mind? It was a huge deal. The way her heart fell all over itself, you’d have thought Bono was asking to accompany her. “No.” Her head shook until her hair covered her eyes. “You don’t have to do that.” He really shouldn’t do that. Because what kind of complications would that cause for her right now?
“It can’t be more than a two hour drive, right?” Isaac asked, finally pushing the button for floor number three, thank the good lord. “We’ll drive over there, charm the pants off of those people and get you your dog. Then I’ll drive you home. It’ll take us six hours. Tops.”
Six hours. Six hours of doing her best to avoid his eyes so she wouldn’t get sucked into the infatuation zone again. Six hours of smelling that appetizing manly scent. Six hours of clenching her lady parts to make them behave.
“Really, Julia.” His hand rested on her shoulder.
When had that area become an erogenous zone?
“Let me do this for you. I’d like to help. What other option do you have?”
As much as she hated hearing those words for the better part of her life, she knew he was right. She couldn’t refuse him. She needed this dog.
Which meant she needed Isaac.
In a halleluiah moment, the bell dinged and the elevator doors rolled open.
“Fine,” she said as she wheeled herself out of the elevator, hands shaking like she’d just pushed herself five miles. Uphill. “I’ll see you tomorrow morning. Nine o’clock in the dining room.”
“See you then,” he called while she booked it down the hall.
Once safely inside of her suite, she locked the deadbolt and sat staring at the door.
Well, wasn’t that nice? She’d found herself a husband. Wouldn’t Mother be ecstatic.

Heart of the Rockies #2

 Heart of the Rockies #2

IT'S GONNA BE A WILD RIDE

Ben Noble needs to do some damage control. Fast. His heart has always been in ranching, but there's no escaping the spotlight on his high-powered political family. Now the only thing that can restore his reputation is a getaway to the fresh air of Aspen, Colorado. Not to mention that the trip gives Ben a second chance to impress a certain gorgeous mountain guide. But Paige Harper is nothing like the shy girl he remembers . . . she's so much more.

Paige is serious about Ben, too: seriously annoyed that the playboy cowboy is using her mountain for his PR. Once upon a time, she fell for Ben's aw-shucks charm, but the fairy tale didn't end happily. Paige doesn't intend to let down her guard again. But keeping their relationship all business and no pleasure may be harder than she thinks-especially if the moonlight, the Rockies, and a certain irresistible rancher have anything to say about it...

After his ex-girlfriend makes him look bad in front of the media, Ben Noble needs a new plan. He's running for senator and in order to keep his numbers up, he's going to donate his land in Aspen and make a production of it. He's going to need the help of his friend Bryce and his attractive mountain guide, Paige Harper. Paige has been on his mind since the moment he met her and danced with her. Maybe this time he can convince her he's not playing her.

Paige can't believe Ben is back. He made her feel things she doesn't want to feel, like her heart racing and blushing any time he's around. She is good at what she does but her job is on the line this time. She has to impress her boss and Ben's entourage but his mother is not making things easy for her.

~~

I liked both Ben and Paige.

Paige was determined, strong-willed, but at the same time she had a soft spot of vulnerability. She was hurt before and she didn't want someone taking advantage of her again. I can't blame her for guarding her heart.
Her relationship with her family was also not the best but I was glad to see in the end things work out. Sometimes bad things have to happen to unite us.

Ben was a good guy. Yes, he was a player before but he was serious about wanting something more with Paige. I was glad to see he defended her from his mother. He was not perfect, he made mistakes but he recognized them and asked for forgiveness.

In regards to the secondary characters, I loved Julia. I can't wait to read her story!

Cliffhanger: No

4/5 Fangs

His hand latched on to her arm. “One date. That’s all I’m asking for.”
No, no, no. Don’t touch me. Don’t make me want something I can’t have.
“Ben.” She sighed. Leave me alone didn’t sound nice. And he thought she was nice. As much as he was mistaken, she hated to burst that particular bubble. It was a rare occasion that someone thought she was nice.
He stepped closer. Too close. “One date. Three hours. What are you afraid of, Paige?”
“That’s a complicated question,” she whispered because that was all she could manage. Her lungs squeezed. She couldn’t tell him the truth. She was afraid once he saw past everything, he wouldn’t like what he found. Just like everyone else.
But he didn’t back off. He didn’t move away. He stared at her until the world fell silent, until his gaze fell to her lips. She knew he would kiss her before his lips pressed into hers. She knew, but she didn’t back away, either. Her heart pounded so hard it ached and when his lips were finally on hers, she kissed him back, letting her knees go weak, letting her herself sink into him, letting go.
And he knew where to take her. Holy shittles, he knew. His strong hands caressed up her back and gentled into her hair. His soft, warm lips pried hers open, shooting bursts of warmth down her arms and legs. Something in her chest unlocked and she opened her mouth to him, let his tongue stroke hers. And it was a good thing he was so solid and sure because she wouldn’t be able to stand if she wasn’t leaning against him.
His lips moved over hers, slow and sensual, with a reverence no one had ever offered her. And it was so different, the places he was taking her, so open and giving, demanding nothing for himself. Her body responded to his with a shuddering gasp that made her want to give him more, everything. Chest heaving with a stifled breath, she glided her tongue along his lower lip, then bit down on it lightly.
His low groan lured her hands to his chest. They slid down, feeling the solid muscle under his shirt. Warm satisfaction filled her body to the point of brimming over as a sensual desperation flickered in his movements, making them faster, harder. His tongue mingled with hers, loosening her control, only proving the theory that one kiss could lead to so much more. He could give her more. So much more, judging from the way he seemed to know exactly what she wanted . . .
A foreign sound froze her. Her hands gripped Ben’s shirt as she strained her ears.
Moose. Barking. Somewhere close by. Which meant Bryce wouldn’t be far behind.
“Paige?” her boss called.
Bryce!
She jerked back and shoved her hands into Ben’s chest so hard, he stumbled backward into the feed buckets. Everything clattered as he fell, landing right in a pile of horse oats.
“Paige?” Bryce yelled again. “What the hell?”
Moose bounded into the stables and launched himself at Ben, smothering him with happy kisses.
Eyes wide and bewildered, she looked down at him, still crumpled on the ground, trying to wrestle the dog away as he laughed his ass off.
Oh, no. She squeezed a hand over her mouth, face pulsing with a scorching heat. Her shaking hand reached up to smooth her hair, sure that somehow the evidence of that kiss was all over her.
“What’s going on?” Bryce demanded as he jetted through the stable doors.
“Ben fell,” she blurted out. “He was helping me put stuff away and he . . .”
“Tripped over my own feet.” Eyes watering from the laughter, he pushed Moose away and stood, brushing himself off.
The dog tore away and disappeared from the stables like he’d caught some juicy scent. “Some things don’t change. I’m still a klutz. Remember when I fell down the steps at the old frat house? Broke my arm?”
Bryce eyed him with suspicion. “As I recall, that was because you’d consumed about half the keg.”

He grinned at Paige. “Beer was definitely not my problem today.”

Avery King flees to Aspen, Colorado after a very humiliating public break-up.  She’s a strong willed businesswoman and her father wants her to acquire a rundown mountain ranch so they can build a new resort on the land.  Avery doesn’t expect the owner, Bryce Walker, to be so stubborn… and hot!

Bryce Walker has a lot of demons in his past.  After losing his wife three years ago and spiraling out of control, he’s still trying to get his life back together.  When he meets Avery and figures out what she wants he doesn’t want anything to do with her.  The Walker Ranch has been in his family for years and he has no plans on selling it, no matter what the bank says.

**

LOVED. THIS. BOOK.

Avery and Bryce were both broken souls.  They had troubled pasts and were trying the best they could to navigate through the long term after effects.  When they meet each other it’s instant fireworks…. And not the good ones.  They are constantly at each other’s throats.

I also loved the small town feel to NO BETTER MAN.  The connected community is so fun to read.  Everyone is in everyone’s business but they are all their for each other.

I finished NO BETTER MAN in one sitting.  If you’re looking for a fun, sexy romance, pick up NO BETTER MAN.
