Brant’s Return by Mia Sheridan

Title: Brant’s Return
Author: Mia Sheridan

A stunning, heartfelt new stand-alone by New York Times best-selling author Mia Sheridan - available in audio first!

Brant Talbot runs a glitzy network of high-end bars in New York City, enjoying all the benefits of the lavish lifestyle he's worked so hard to achieve. When he learns that his estranged father is dying, he must return to his family’s Kentucky horse farm - and to a past he thought he left behind.

While facing long-buried truths, he collides with his father’s secretary, Isabelle Farris. Despite his undeniable attraction to the beautiful, independent young woman, he sees secrets in her eyes and believes she has designs on Graystone Hill.

Now the one woman he can’t afford to trust is about to become the one he can’t let go.

Ahhhh. Such a romantic book!

I love Mia Sheridan’s Archer's Voice so much and since then, I have been a fan of her books.

Mia's stories have faith, love and are full of hope.

Brant's Return is not any different.

Isabelle was the victim of a horrendous crime. A home invasion left her without her husband Ethan and her four-year-old daughter Elise. Three years later, she’s working at Graystone Hill. She’s part secretary for Harrison Talbot, part horse trainer/whisperer. She also helps with the equine therapy which she used herself six months after she lost her family. Sadly, Harrison has been diagnosed with cancer and given six months to live. Isabelle recently found out Harrison has a son, Grant Talbot who’s a successful business owner in New York. Knowing Harrison is dying, she believes Grant and Harrison are running out of time. She decides to call Grant to make peace with Harrison before he passes.

Brant Talbot has not spoken to his father for over a decade. When his mother died, he severed ties to his father and to Graystone Hill. He’s the owner of many new bars in NYC. He’s in the process of buying one more when he gets the call from Isabelle. Curious about her and also the declining health of his father, he embarks on a trip back home. He has a shocking revelation when he arrives home. Belle is not like any other woman he has met before. She’s intriguing and she put him in his place. He also can tell she has lost much but loves being around the horses and she truly cares about his dad. Conflicting emotions develop for him. He has been used to having control and keeping his emotions buried while Belle has a very different way of dealing with hers.

Belle and Brant were so good together. There was chemistry and attraction. They helped each other heal from past events. Belle showed Brant how to open up his heart again.

The whole legend about Captain Skye and Glasblair was a truly gifted element to their romance. I loved every part of it.

I liked the secondary characters and two of them, Aaron and Hank deserve their own books.

More Than Words by Mia Sheridan

Title: More Than Words
Author: Mia Sheridan
Publisher:  Forever
Release Date:  June 12, 2018

No one lays open the heart and soul quite like New York Times bestselling author Mia Sheridan.

The moment she met Callen Hayes, eleven-year-old Jessica Creswell knew he was a broken prince. Her prince. They became each other's refuge, a safe and magical place far from their troubled lives. Until the day Callen kissed her--Jessica's first real, dreamy kiss—and then disappeared from her life without a word.

Years later, everyone knows who Callen Hayes is. Famous composer. Infamous bad boy. What no one knows is that Callen's music is now locked deep inside, trapped behind his own inner demons. It's only when he withdraws to France to drink his way through the darkness that Callen stumbles into the one person who makes the music return. Jessica. His Jessie. And she still tastes of fresh, sweet innocence . . . even as she sets his blood on fire.

But they don't belong in each other's worlds anymore. There are too many mistakes. Too many secrets. Too many lies. All they have is that instinctive longing, that need—and something that looks dangerously like love.

"Fairy tales helped me disappear into worlds where princes were loyal and honest and where princesses were strong and brave."

Any of my book friends will tell you that Archer's Voice is my favorite book by Mia Sheridan. It doesn't mean I didn't like her other books, it's just that Archer's Voice is my favorite.

Knowing that I enjoyed Mia's writing when the opportunity presented for me to get an early copy of More Than Words, I wasn't going to pass it over.

Who would have thought that meeting in an abandoned train boxcar would have an effect on two people so great that neither will forget it?

When Callen Hayes and Jessica Creswell meet for the first time, they are both teenagers. They soon realize they have something in common. Neither has a happy home.

Jessica likes to pretend she's in a fantasy and she sees Callen as her broken Prince. For his part, Callen is happy to let Jessica read to him and take him away from his problems. Several months later and after they share a special moment, Callen disappears from her life and they don't see each other until they are both adults in Paris.

“I’m here to save you,”

Sadly, the reunion doesn't go as planned. Callen doesn't recognize her but after that night, he can't seem to forget the woman who said those words to him. As fate will have it, they will meet one more time but this time might be their last chance.

Callen is a well-known composer who has lost his muse until he has Jessica back in his life. Yet, his fame as a womanizer and a borderline alcoholic doesn't ensure confidence from Jessica. She knows she won't be with a man who can't remain faithful to her. For his part, Callen can be his worst enemy but Jessica brings back the music to him. She inspires him and makes him want to be better. The question is can he let go of his past?

More Than Words gives a message of hope and love which is perfect for a romance fan.

"I want to live fiercely and without regret."

Most of All You by Mia Sheridan

Title: Most of All You
Author: Mia Sheridan
Publisher: Forever
Release Date: October 17, 2017

A broken woman . . .

Crystal learned long ago that love brings only pain. Feeling nothing at all is far better than being hurt again. She guards her wounded heart behind a hard exterior, and carries within her a deep mistrust of men who, in her experience, have only ever used and taken.

A man in need of help . . .

Then Gabriel Dalton walks into her life. Despite the terrible darkness of his past, there’s an undeniable goodness about him. And even though she knows the cost, Crystal finds herself drawn to Gabriel. His quiet strength is wearing down her defenses and his gentle patience is causing her to question everything she thought she knew.

Only love can mend a shattered heart . . .

Crystal and Gabriel never imagined that the world that had stolen everything from them would bring them a deep love like this. Except fate will only take them so far and now the choice is theirs: Harden their hearts once again or find the courage to shed their painful pasts.

“I don’t create beauty, I just reveal what’s already there.”

What a sweet story!

Mia Sheridan writes deep-meaning romances. When I buy one of her books, I know the story will connect with me at some level. To this day, Archer's Voice is still one of my favorite books.

In Most of All You, two people come together by chance. Both have suffered and had a hard childhood. Gabriel Dalton comes asking for help from Crystal but I believe he's the one who gives Crystal hope again.

“You can’t fix me, you know.”

“No, I can only love you.”

Crystal has been hurt so many times, that she has pretty much given up on fighting. She doesn't feel like she deserves anything better. When she spots Gabriel, she knows he doesn't fit into her life and she tries hard to discourage him but as fate will have it, she will be the one needing to trust Gabriel instead.

It's hard to say more without spoiling their pasts and the reasons why their romance works. I was amazed by the growth Gabriel has had despite what happened to him as a child. He was able to view the world with a serenity and a positive disposition. He gave Crystal the support she needed but he also understood that she needed to heal herself.

“I don’t mind chasing you, Ellie. Just let me catch you once in a while.”

Crystal was so used to being disappointed that when she meets Gabriel, she knows he's dangerous to the mask of indifference she wears. He can get to her. His patience, friendship, trust, protectiveness can steal her heart and she's not ready to let her walls come down. She fiercely protects her heart but who can blame her after everything she had to deal with?

I like the pace of Most of All You. I felt that the events unfolded in just the right sequence. I love how Mia was able to make both characters grow and overcome their issues. Their healing process took a natural turn. Nothing felt rushed.

This is another story by Mia that will remain with me for a while.

Preston's Honor by Mia Sheridan

Title: Preston's Honor
Author: Mia Sheridan
Release Date: February 19, 2017

There were two brothers—identical twins—and though I loved them both, my soul belonged to only one.

Annalia Del Valle has loved Preston Sawyer all her life. The daughter of an impoverished migrant farmworker, she grew up as an outcast in what was no more than a tiny, cooped up shack in California’s Central Valley. But her heart found freedom in the land, in the wide-open spaces of Sawyer Farm, and in the boys who were her only friends.

Preston has yearned for Annalia since he was a boy. But a sense of honor kept him from pursuing her until he’s unable to hold back any longer and their worlds—and bodies—collide one hot summer night. A night that sets off a chain of events that will alter their lives forever.

Now Annalia is back in town after disappearing without a trace for six long months. Determined to reclaim her heart, her life, and the baby she left behind—the son who was created in a moment of lust and love and pent-up yearning.

Preston has survived grief, a ravaging drought, and the despair of heartache, but he’s not sure he can survive Annalia again. And he might be unwilling to try. Will pride and bitterness keep him from the one thing he’s always longed for?

How do you heal what is irreparably broken? How do you forgive that which is unforgivable? How do you discover that real honor comes not from circumstance, but from the place deep in our hearts where truth resides? And how do you move beyond the wounds of the past to discover that some loves are as solid as the ground beneath your feet, and as enduring as the earth itself?

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY GEMINI. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

"Make a fuss, mi amor."

I've enjoyed every book by Mia Sheridan I've read. Archer's Voice was one of my Top Books of 2014.

I love the idea of the zodiac signs having their own love stories. This time it what's Gemini's turn.

I think I could divide this story into 3 stages:

As kids:

Preston Sawyer is a twin. He and his brother Cole do everything together. Preston knows he wants to stay in the family's farming business while Cole is probably going to leave town when he's older. They both have befriended a migrant worker's daughter, Annalia Del Valle. They become friends when they are all so very young.

As teenagers:

Years later, when she is fifteen and they're eighteen and closer to leaving for college, Cole realizes he likes her and wants to be with her. Preston has always had feelings for Annalia. He just didn't show them. He's the quieter and serious brother while Cole is the jokester. As boys will have it, they do a race to decide who's going to be the one asking her out.

Lia's childhood has not been pleasant. She has grown up in poverty with a mother who has never been warm or caring towards her.  After her mother stopped working for Preston's family she started making her living cleaning motels. Lia tries to help her the best way she can. She avoids being a "burden". She prefers to be invisible and she avoids confrontation. She likes Cole but her strongest feelings are for Preston. She's quiet, reserved and she has self-imposed limits on what she can be able to accomplish. In a way, she's her own worst enemy.

As young adults:

Annalia is back in town. She's back for her son, to help her mother, and reconnect with the man she loves.

__

Preston's Honor is told in dual POV's. The beginning of the book is told in the present and then we're taken back to the past. Through their pain, we learned to love these characters and their tribulations.

Lia had a lack of self-worth. She avoided being considered a "problem". She wanted to just put her head down and go through life that way. Her upbringing shaped her into what she was as an adult. She had no one on her side except the Sawyer boys.

"Those damn parameters in which I would always be contained."

Preston was honorable and very protective of Lia. What he lacked was a good open communication skill with the woman he loved.  I know much of their angst could have been avoided if they both were more vocal about their feelings.

In the end, things worked out the best way they could and I really liked how things ended. I loved that Mia dares to leave the common paths and give us unique storylines.

"Come here, farm boy."

Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

Oh hello, Mia Sheridan just rocked my world with this book! I could just kick myself for not reading it sooner because I just kept putting it off even though I own three copies of it! I was completely swept away by these characters and this small sleepy town.

Bree first meets Archer when her items fall all over the ground and he helps her pick everything up, but it's definitely not in that meet-cute type of way. He helps her but seems distracted for some reason and completely unresponsive. As time passes she comes to discover more about him and they seem to form some sort of friendship.

Archer's character completely rocked me! I guess sometimes I spend so much time reading those Alpha male characters that when presented with this soft-hearted, unsure, and sometimes skittish character I just didn't know what to do with it. Archer was somewhat rough around the edges, but for obvious reason, and Bree was just the perfect friend! I love how she didn't go back and forth with her decision to pursue things further because that would have completely pissed me off. She was patient, and kind, and pushed Archer when she needed to. In turn Archer was somewhat of a rock for her as well.

The love in this book is just all consuming! Ahhh I was swooning so HARD! This writing is just so powerful. I felt for these characters, I ached for them, I cried for them, and I will never forget them. This is a stunningly beautiful story that will remain in my heart for years to come.

Mrs Kellan Kyle's review :

I just finished reading Archer’s Voice for the second time. Yes, it’s that good! I read it for the first time when it came out, and heard the author sold the screenplay so I decided to give it another read before a possible movie comes out - please make it happen :-)

After going through a trauma, young college graduate Bree Prescott decides to take the road and ends up renting a cottage in small-town Pelion, Maine. There, she encounters the mysterious Archer Hale. Archer doesn’t speak, he’s a 23 year old recluse and has barely any interactions with people in Pelion.

However, when Bree and Archer meet, we can feel the instant connection « As I stared at him, it felt like something moved between us, almost as if I should reach out and try to grab the air surrounding our bodies - like perhaps my hand would come back holding something tangible, something warm and soft. »

I’m usually irked by female characters in romance novels, but Bree is a relatable character, she’s sweet, compassionate and straightforward despite all the terrible things that happened to her.

The book is told mainly from her POV, but in my opinion, Archer is the real main character. He’s a complex character whom discovers himself as the story goes on. Bree is the trigger that takes him through the journey of that discovery, and as we read, we find all the different layers of his personality that were hidden under all that hair and beard.
I liked that some chapters were told from Archer’s POV so we can understand his background story, and where he’s coming from.

It’s their past history and the trauma they both lived that brings these two characters together. Bree and Archer have to learn trust, self-confidence and love together. It’s what makes their relationship so moving and adorable.

All in all, this was a great book that I would recommend to anyone who loves strong female characters and hot 23 year old fast learning virgin guys ;-D

My favorite quote: « She asked me the sign for love and I spelled out your name. (…) I think love is a concept, and each person has an individual word for what sums it up for them. My word for love is Bree. »

Grayson's Vow by Mia Sheridan

Kira Dallaire is desperate.

Some challenges in life seem too hard to overcome. With little money, and even fewer options, the quick-witted and vibrant twenty-two-year-old needs to reinvent herself. Known for her generous heart and impulsive personality, she devises a survival plan, possibly her most outrageous idea yet.

Grayson Hawthorn is losing hope.

Some obstacles in life seem too hard to overcome. Betrayal definitely being one of them. With limited capital, and dwindling resources, he is attempting to resurrect his failing family vineyard, a self-imposed vow seemingly destined to fail. That is until a young woman enters his office with an outlandish, unexpected proposition impossible to refuse.

What begins as a temporary business arrangement, soon evolves into more as vivacious, spirited Kira challenges detached, arrogant Grayson to want more from life. To want more for himself. But as their wills clash and fiery passion ignites, they'll realize that sometimes the past creates walls too difficult to climb, and that lies and deception rarely precede a happily every after.

As Kira and Grayson race toward their destiny, they will discover that some vows are meant to be broken, and others are worth risking everything for . . . even your very own heart.

THIS IS A STANDALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY LIBRA. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

This is a love story between a Dragon and a Witch.  Oh wait, not really.

Kira Dallaire needs money and independence from her controlling father. She is ready to move forward and her next Big Bad Idea is to marry for money. Her grandmother has left her an inheritance but she must get married or turn thirty to claim it.

Grayson Hawthorn needs money to save his vineyard. He made a vow to his dead father to make it a success. But, when the bank denies him the loan to save it he decides to accept the crazy proposal the "princess" is offering.

What starts as a business deal turns to complication with a capital C. For the first time in his life, Kira makes Grayson feel alive. It doesn't matter if they are happy or fighting. She makes him act like a kid again, enjoying life with her crazy antics.  The light she brings into his heart is real. Letting her go is not going to be easy....

"So that will be our story? We bumped into each other here in Napa, fell in love, and impulsively married because we were irrational—but not flighty—with new love?"

I just love Mia Sheridan's writing. I loved both characters.

Kira was a spitfire. She was a determined little thing. She was also sweet, honest, tender and funny. She had me laughing so many times with her descriptions and names for Grayson. I was 100% team Kira.

Grayson. What. Can. I. Say?  I love a brooding character and he is the definition of one. He did make wrong assumptions and hurt Kira's feelings but at the end of the day, I still like him. I could make a list of pro and cons as to why I love them ;)
I strongly recommend you to read this book. And wait until you read the epilogue. It made me melt.

By the way, the pet names fit them perfectly. Refreshing!

"She needs love more than anything. The only thing that will hurt her is holding it back."
