I started the novella unsure of what to expect.
Mostly it deals with Ben's self destructive behavior after his mother's death. He feels guilty about the time he stayed away from her and about how much he hurt Dahlia too. He knows she's lost to him and he is finally at peace with it. He also seems to remember a pair of green eyes haunting him and staying away from Bell is proving harder than he thought.
His spiral down hits rock bottom and we get a glimpse of him resurfacing from the ashes.
I still think Ben has a lot to redeem himself from. Cheating is something I usually don't forgive in books.
I hope by reading Frayed that he will convince me to like him and root for his happiness.

Ben had it all- a wonderful job, family, and fiancé… until his job as an investigative reporter took him too deep and he was forced to fake his death in order to keep his fiancé Dahlia safe.  

I started this book really excited to read Ben’s side of the story.  It was interesting to see the reason why he “died” and how everything went down through his eyes.  I hope when we read Frayed we will see more of what happened.  It was also fun to see S’belle again! I can’t wait to read more about these two in their full length story!

Torn (Connections #2) by Kim Karr

I would strongly recommend reading Connected before you read Torn.


Torn starts just where Connected left us. And what an ending that was!

I fell in love with River almost at the same time Dahlia did but in this installment it is pretty hard not to fall further in love with him..
He was everything Dahlia needed.  Very protective, supportive and yes majorly alpha.  He made his feelings clear to Dahlia. Yes, he made mistakes.  He hide things he shouldn't but his heart was in the right place.
Dahlia spent sometime being confused.  Someone that she loved dearly is back in the picture and she doesn't know if she should still love them or let them go.  She thought she was happy and in love with River until this chaos was brought back into her life.

What I love the most about this book is that Kim didn't make us suffer through a lengthy triangle.  Pretty soon we know where Dahlia's heart is going and I couldn't agree more with her decision.  Very happy with the conclusion of Torn.

There are some seeds planted for future books and I already added Xander's book to my TBR.  I'm sure it will be amazing.

Fate is a killer and when she looses everything it takes her a very long time for her to decide to join the living again.

River Wilde is the lead singer of the Wilde Ones.  He met Dahlia once but he never forgot her.  When he meets her again he decides he won't let her leave him this time. But can he compete with a ghost?

“I never imagined I could feel so connected to anyone as much as I feel connected to you. I knew I loved you from the moment I saw you. How could I not? Loving you is as easy as breathing.”

This book took me by surprise.  Dahlia's loss felt real.  It was extremely sad seeing her loosing someone she loved.  She was devastated and as a reader, you felt everything she felt.  I cried when she cried.  Luckily she had great friends to help her through.  I also thought that she made the right choice the first time she met River.  I'm also glad she didn't hesitate the second time.

River was honest. He didn't play games and he was determined to get the girl.  I liked him a lot.  He gave her space in regards to her grief and even though, he felt jealous he never showed her.
Now, the ending- it was a killer.

"Ever since I met you, no one else has been worth thinking about."
