Forever Doon (Doon #4)
by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon

With the witch of Doon on the throne, Jamie believed dead, and Duncan and Mackenna trapped in Alloway, Veronica has no choice but to put her grief aside and prepare her remaining followers for the impending battle against the false queen and her forces. But while on a covert mission to steal a powerful elixir from the castle, Veronica discovers her true love may actually be alive, and fighting a battle of his own.

With the Brig o’ Doon destroyed and the portal fragmented, Doon’s forces are not only divided, but also isolated in different dimensions. With the help of a storyteller as ancient as the witch herself, Kenna and Duncan learn they must rebuild the bridge to have any chance of crossing back into Doon with their ragtag army. But when Mackenna insists on fighting as well, Duncan soon realizes the only way he can ensure her safety is to turn her into a cold-hearted killer.

For Vee, Jamie, Kenna, and Duncan, saving their kingdom while keeping their lives intact will take a miracle.

After the ending of the previous book in this series, I was really interested in seeing what was going to happen next. I thought the books got more and more exciting as the series went on, so I was really looking forward to seeing how the series was going to wrap up! This book wasn't my favorite book in the series, but it was still a fun book to read.

One of the issues I have had with this series is that the writing reads as preteen instead of teen. I was hoping that would maybe change as the series went on, but it didn't. The dialogue felt a quite immature at times, which would annoy me. I really think young teens would adore this writing style, because I know I definitely would have when I was younger! However, at my age now, I just find it a bit childish. Another issue I had with this book was that I was still not able to connect with McKenna. McKenna made unnecessary drama throughout the entire book, which was very annoying. She also made countless musical references that I never understood. Unfortunately, her chapters were always my least favorite to read.

All that being said, there were a lot of things I did enjoy in this book! I thought Vee's storyline in this book was very addictive and interesting. I blew through her chapters! I really connected to her as a character, and I admired her strength in this book. I also love her with Jamie. They are adorable together!

Another thing I enjoyed in this book was the action. I thought the action was intense! The authors were able to write the action scenes in a way that I actually felt like I was there in the moment. It was great!

Overall, I thought this was a fun book! There were things I didn't like, but I thought this a lovely way to wrap up this series. I would recommend this series to any preteen who loves fairytales, romance, friendship, and action!

Shades of Doon by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon

After cheating death, Veronica Welling is determined to savor every moment in her idyllic kingdom with both her true love and best friend by her side at last. At the same time, Mackenna Reid is enthusiastically building her new life and a theater with her prince. But just as their dreams of happiness are within reach, the world Vee and Kenna have chosen is ripped away, leaving them to face their most horrific challenge yet—their old lives.

Thrust out of Doon, the best friends are confronted with tormentors from their past and no way to return to their adopted land. When the MacCrae brothers rush to their rescue, the girls' situation turns from nightmare to modern-day fairy tale. But their happiness could be short lived: unbeknownst to them, someone in their closest circle is aiding the witch of Doon in her bid to destroy the kingdom once and for all.

I just finished the second book in this series, Destined for Doon , and that book ended on an intense cliffhanger. That cliffhanger left me dying to get my hands on this book. What surprised me with this book was that it did not pick up right where the second book left off. There was a jump in time from where the second book left off. I would have enjoyed the beginning of the book a little bit more if it would have started off where the second book left off, but I didn't hate the start of the book by any means. It just wasn't what I was expecting.

One of the things I loved about this book was the romance. In this book, the two couples are finally together and in a good place. I loved seeing the couples working as one big team. The drama between the couples was minimal, which I was so grateful for. I hate it when books create unnecessary drama for couples in the sequels, and this book did not do that! The couples were adorable, romantic, and and I ate it up. I was extremely happy with the romance in this book. I also really loved the magic and plot of this book. I found this book to be the most engrossing of the Doon novels. I thought the book was paced really well, and it was very addictive. I enjoyed being back in the world of Doon and seeing both the good and bad in the world of Doon.

What I didn't like in this book was that the writing and some of the situations just seemed really young and a little immature. It was a bit bothersome at times for me. I was able to look past it, but it might be hard for others to be able to get into the writing or relate to the characters. Even though I am only a little bit older than the main characters, I sometimes just felt like they were being too immature. I think younger readers will devour this series. I know I would have enjoyed it even more if I was younger. I am not saying I disliked the book, and I just like it is a little too immature for me at times. So some older readers might have a hard time getting into this series. It took me a little bit of time to get into this series, but once I was able to get into the plot and the romance, I became addicted. I just love the whimsical feel to this book, especially when the characters are in the world of Doon.

Overall, I really liked this book! I thought it was a great addition to this series. It was actually my favorite book of the series so far. The ending was a cliffhanger, so I am dying to get my hands on the next book! I was addicted to the plot and romance of this book, and I know fans of this series will absolutely love this book!

Destined for Doon by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon

In this sequel to Doon, Kenna Reid realizes she made a horrible mistake-choosing to follow her dreams of Broadway instead of staying in the enchanted land of Doon. Worse, she's received proof she and Duncan are meant to be, along with torturous visions of the prince she left behind. So when Duncan shows up and informs Kenna that Doon needs her, she doesn't need to think twice. But even if Kenna can save the enchanted kingdom, her happily ever after may still be in peril.

The Doon novels are a part of Blink, HarperCollins Christian Publishing's new YA imprint that delivers empowering and heartening literature while maintaining a tradition of imaginative and impactful storytelling.

I definitely preferred this book to the first one, and I think that might be because I got to see much more of Duncan. I absolutely adore Duncan, and I was so freaking excited to read this book due to fact that Duncan was going to have a bigger role in this book.

Sometimes Duncan made me want to scream in frustration, but I still loved him. The reason I wanted to scream was because of the lack of communication between Duncan and Kenna. They would would keep things from each other and they would never tell each other how they really felt. I wanted to locked them in a very small room and only let them out once they admitted that they loved each other. I just wanted them to kiss and tell each other how much they actually cared for one another.

The lack of communication made the first part of this book sort of drag a little bit. However, the last part of the book completely made up for that. I devoured the last half of this book. It was thrilling and I couldn't stop reading the book.

The world of Doon was still as addictive and magical as ever in this book. I am so excited to see more of Doon in the future books. I loved learning about this mystical place in Scotland. The world Lorie and Carey created is just so phenomenal. I couldn't stop thinking about Doon after finishing this book. I want to be transported to this world ASAP.

I connected with Vee a lot more in this book than I did in the first book. I thought Vee grew a lot as a character and I really enjoyed seeing her struggles with being queen. It seemed extremely realistic that everything wasn't perfect. Vee is definitely my favorite female character in this series.

Jamie and Duncan were as swoon worthy as ever in this book. I am hopelessly in love with both Jamie and Duncan. Even though Duncan was a little annoying in this book, he still managed to make me swoon. Carey and Lorie incorporated some really romantic scenes in this book that made my heart so happy.

THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK....

Let's just say that I am dying to read the next book after that ending.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was a fabulous addition to this series. I am in love with everything about this series. I cannot wait to read the next book. I have a feeling it will be amazing.

Doon (Doon #1) by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon

How awesome is that book trailer? I am obsessed with it!

This book was hard for me to give a solid rating for. I ended up deciding on rating it a 4 out of 5. I really loved the plot of this book. The Scotland setting was so whimsical and beautiful. I was completely entranced with the setting. I could clearly picture Doon in my head, and now I want to visit the kingdom! Carey and Lorie made me feel like I was in a different world, and it made me addicted to this book. I couldn't stop thinking about this book after I finished. I was completely hooked by the plot and setting.

The storyline of this book was just wonderful. However, this book did take me a little bit of time to get into it. The opening chapters just seemed awkward and unbelievable. I was glad with the quick change of setting after the first few chapters. Some of the dialogue seemed childish and some of the scenarios were a bit too cliche. Certain things were repeated multiple times throughout the book, which was quite annoying at times. I also found that some of things that existed in Doon just seemed too perfect. Since this was a fantasy novel, I eventually learned to accept that aspect of the book.

Another issue I had with this book was that a lot of the storylines felt rushed. The romance in this book was really cute, but it just felt a little bit like instant love. However, the couples did have some really cute moments that I adored. Jamie and Duncan were so swoon worthy in this book. I wanted to marry both of them! Carey and Lorie definitely made it easy to fall in love with both of the men in this book. I could easily ignore the instant love, because I am a sucker for romance.

Overall, this was a really fun and cute. I absolutely adored the setting and plot of this book. The romance was adorable as well! I definitely recommend this to annoying who likes YA fantasy novels with some romance. I would also recommend this book to anyone who dreams of traveling to Scotland like I do! I cannot wait to dive into the sequel in this series.
