Vacation From Love by Joan Conning Afman

Raina is going on vacation with her best friend from work Marisol. She is in a way running away from Duff for one week

Duff has made it very clear that he loves her but he will be leaving soon when he gets a better job offer. He is in love with Raina but they don't like the same things. Duff likes museums, Ballet, gourmet food, etc. Raina likes Burger King, movies and having a good time.

Duff worries about this vacation and he comes up with the excuse that his grandmother is dead to be able to leave work at the same time that Raina does. He follows her through most of their vacation. They both learn new things during the trip.

My personal opinion - Duff behaves more like a stalker. He doesn't give her time alone. What kind of relationship starts with so many lies?

Kathryn St. David is starting her London season at her Great aunt Ophelia Palin's house. She arrives late to the Masquerades ball thrown in her name. She enters the house through the backdoor and decides to clean herself up after a long trip. She goes to the room she thinks has been assigned to her. While in the room she witnesses an exchange between a man and a woman. She makes a noise and runs away before she can be discovered. She misinterprets the situation and believes the man (Nigel Moorhaven, Marquis of Blackshire) was taking advantage of the lady. She is able to find the right room and proceeds to dress as the fairy character, Titania from A Midsummer Night's Dream. She decides to interfere and save the reputation of the lady. Later she declines to dance with the Marquis.

Her Great aunt discovers that she has lost her diary at an enemy's home, Lady Marchman's School for Young Ladies. Kathryn assumes the identity of a teenager while trying to recover the diary. To her surprise, Nigel's ward becomes her roommate.

Blackshire has placed his ward there to investigate a possible traitor exchanging secrets with France.

Funny situations prevailed.

Fast-paced book.

A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrison (The Hollows, #10)

Itchy Witch is back....

Book 10 starts after a few months of Rachel almost loosing her soul. She is wearing the bracelet Trent gave her to avoid Al and all demonic too. Unfortunately, this leaves her unprepared to defend herself. Her parents have hired Wayde as her bodyguard. Rachel doesn't think much of the Were at the beginning, but he is able to make her see somethings she is trying to avoid dealing with. Marshal makes a cameo in this book, I'm glad he is not a hater, but I'm also glad he is gone.

Trent is big in this book, they finally are able to communicate, to fight together, to accept each others magic. No jumping to the wrong conclusions on this one. I like that he has his cellphone connected to Rachel's bypassing all securities. The Ring is also something to think about. But I digress...

This book is about HAPA, humans who are trying to use demon magic against everything non human. They want extermination without thinking about the consequences. As always, Rachel believes this is her fault in some way and has to defend her race and all others.

My one complaint about this book, is the lack of Al. I missed him in this book. What a great character he is. I want him happy at the end of this series. I missed his British accent. He always make the pages fly by.

I know some of my friends are a little disappointed in this book but I can see the grounds forming for an epic finale. This was the calm before the storm (Although, Rachel still finds a way to get beat up).

Spoiler Fanglert:

There is no kissing in this book. I feel like Miss Harrison, is getting ready for a big ending.

All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins

Callie Grey is a funny, spontaneous girl who is madly in love with her boss, Mark. He was the first kiss when they were teenagers. After a short fling with Mark, she is even more in love. To her surprise when she turns thirty, he gives her a gift but also tells her, he is dating the next company heiress. She is devastated, decides to flee the office and get her new license. At the DMV she cries in line and makes phone calls to her sister and friend. The guy behind her is upset at her "verbal diarrhea". Although, he can't be that bad if he has a handkerchief to lend.

She decides maybe it's time for a new love, goes on a couple of internet dates and makes her dog visit the new hunk of a vet. To her surprise, the new Vet is the guy in line at the DMV, Dr. Ian McFarland. He is not warm like Dr. Kumar, the old Vet. He may need help with a new campaign to help him gain more clients. Little by little they get to know each other and a more than a friendship begins. But Mark may want her back.

I loved this book. After finishing reading it I just wished the characters were real. It also made me cry but not as much as her prior books. The dogs are always a plus. Love her relationship with her Grandfather.

Another winner book by Mrs. Higgins.

I liked it. It was short and sweet. I will read more books by this author.
