Asking for More by Lilah Pace

Title: Asking for More
Series: Asking for It #2.5
Author:  Lilah Pace
Release Date: March 15, 2016
Publisher: InterMix

The incendiary author of Begging for It and Asking for It again plunges readers into the shadowy depths of love, pain, pleasure and peril...

How far is too far?

Finally sure of each other's strength and love, Jonah and Vivienne continue to explore their darkest fantasies together. However, what should be a night of ecstasy takes a dangerous turn, injuring Vivienne. She shrugs off the incident, but Jonah is haunted by it, particularly by the fear that others may believe he abuses her, or even glimpse the truth of their erotic obsession.

Then Jonah receives a call from his younger sister, Rebecca, who's dealing with trouble of her own in South America. When Vivienne travels with him to aid Rebecca, she learns yet more about his tortured history—and Jonah opens up to Vivienne as never before.

Can Vivienne help Jonah cast off the shadows of his past forever?

I was so happy to be back in Jonah and Vivienne's lives!

I love Asking For It and Begging For It. I missed these characters so much. It was such a treat to be offered this novella early.

Asking For More had all the ingredients that the prior two books had. There is great chemistry, interesting dialogue, and sexy scenes.

Jonah is still having some issues dealing with his darkest desires. He loves Vivienne but he doesn't want to hurt her. When one of their games goes wrong he can't fight the guilt that consumes him. Vivienne is there to support him and to help him realize he is trustworthy.  Vivienne feels completely safe with him. She has no reason not to. Not only that, but she has proven she can take care of herself.

I was happy Rebecca joined the characters. She seems strong and composed. I wouldn't mind reading her story sometime.
What can I say? I'm still hoping Lilah decides to write more stories about the secondary characters.

Georgie anyone?

Begging for It (Asking for It #2) by Lilah Pace

Begging for it has a fantastic writing. Lilah Pace is a master. I was hooked from the moment I read the first page. Asking for It was amazing and I won't lie and say I didn't have some trepidation before starting it. I didn't want to be disappointed. Thankfully, I shouldn't have worried.

The book starts a few weeks after Asking for It ends. Jonah and Vivienne meet again and their connection is more than sexual. They have fallen in love and staying away is not so easy. They are still "playing" until a rapist is on the loose and no women feels safe in the college campus area. The police turned their investigation towards Jonah and here is where I think Vivienne shines. She is his support and she helps him in whatever way he needs it. She is there for him 100%. She also voices her needs and stands up for herself. She acknowledges her dark desires and she is ready to face them.
Jonah is a strong man but even someone like him can feel doubts when faced with some many things coming at him at once. He has to deal with his fantasies, making Vivienne happy, protecting himself and his siblings from his step-father and on top of it all the police think of him as a suspect.

These characters pain was so vivid, I found myself wanting to hug them both.
I won't ever understand Vivienne's family. I wanted her to hate them for everything they have done.
I'm happy she had great friends who supported her and loved her. Let's not forget Jonah's love for her. He was perfect. A mixture of understanding and a reality check for both. A smart man but a quiet one, sexy and dark but with a mix of a nerd in him.  Vivienne is a great heroine. She is smart but she's still healing her emotional wounds.

Reader Advisory: Asking for It deals explicitly with fantasies of non-consensual sex. Readers sensitive to portrayals of non-consensual sex should be advised.

These two books were unlike anything I’ve ever read before.  If you haven’t read the first book, stop reading. There may be small spoilers below. (Also run right now and go buy book one, ASKING FOR IT. You won’t be disappointed.)

Like the warning states above this book isn’t for everyone.  It deals with fantasy rape and other hard topics.   As we know from book one, Viviane had an unimaginable childhood that resulted in her fantasizing about being raped.  It’s not glamorous or optional for her. . .  It’s a necessity.  When Jonah meets her at a party and overhears her ex boyfriend talking about her needs, he makes a deal with her.  They will “role play” and he will always keep her safe.  Neither of them expected to fall for each other so quickly.

When it gets too intense for them Jonah calls off the relationship. And that’s how BEGGING FOR IT begins.  Jonah and Viviane are not together but it’s only a matter of time before they get back together.  The bond and connection the two of them share is undeniable.  Will they be able to get through the obstacles that are thrown between them or will their pasts and fantasies destroy their unbreakable bond?

“We’re both in danger of drowning.  But you’re doing your damnedest to swim, and I’m nothing but the weight dragging you down.  So I’m cutting you loose.”

Like I mentioned above this is one of the best stories I’ve read.  I definitely won’t be forgetting about Viviane and Jonah anytime soon.  I was so drawn to them and their story I couldn’t put the books down.  Lilah Pace is a writer to watch.

Asking for It (Asking for It #1) by Lilah Pace

Asking for it

This is not my usual book at ALL.
And it might not be for you either. Just because I loved it doesn't mean you will. Please be advised of the book's warning...

Asking For It deals with a female character who has sexual rape fantasies. Vivienne Charles is a TA graduate student. She is smart and very damaged. She has recently come back to her apartment after being away on break. She's still friendly with her ex-boyfriend who couldn't deal with what she wanted sexually. Unfortunately, after a party and too many drinks, part of her secret is out and Jonah, a professor, is now aware of her desires. When he offers to help her with them, she finds herself saying yes.

“I’m not a masochist; I don’t get off on that kind of thing.”

“I’m not a sadist, so that works.”

Jonah Marks has secrets of his own. He's smart, quiet, sexy and with a dominant personality.

But, for how long can an arrangement with so much trust involved remain impersonal???

--

This book blew me away. I was terrified to read it since it was going to be so out of my comfort zone. I had so many preconceived ideas before I even started it. So glad I gave it a chance....

Vivienne is smart, independent, with determined goals in life. However, she feels ashamed of her fantasies. She revealed her darker desires to her ex-boyfriend and it ended their relationship. She was strong enough to realize therapy was going to help her and when we meet her she has had years of it. Vivienne's pain was tangible. So raw. There was no way I couldn't like her.

“Tonight, I actually am. I’m asking for it.”

I thought Jonah was the answer to her prayers. With him she felt safe and he never disappointed me. He relished her vulnerability and he always took care of her. He was sensitive to her needs and I'm talking about the ones outside their sexual relationship. And when we learn his secrets it only made me love him a little bit more.

“Even though I still wonder what kind of man Jonah is—even though the roots of his fantasy continue to puzzle and unnerve me—I am already bound to Jonah Marks.”

Can't wait to see how the story continues...

“Sometimes life is like a video game. When things get harder, and the obstacles get tougher, it just means you leveled up.”

Cliffhanger: yes (September)
