♥ Synopsis

She left glitter in his AC vents. He put green dye in her conditioner.

She buttered his bathroom floor, and he kidnapped her precious puppy.

Layla Mullens hates Donovan Donley. His crude language, his wide shoulders, his crystal blue eyes…she hates that she can’t stop herself…from kissing him or landing in his bed.

And Donovan Donley wants nothing more than to knock Layla off her princess pedestal. He hates her stuck up attitude and her soft, tempting lips. He especially hates that her father is his coach.

But he’s fine with their arrangement—act horrible to each other during the day, attack each other naked at night. It works.
But one night changes everything. When Layla doesn’t show, and Donovan’s cold bed stays empty, the lies he tells himself to keep Layla out of his mind aren’t enough to keep him from missing her. And needing her. Something he promised himself would never happen.

The white flags in their prank war have been lowered but their high stakes battle has just begun.

“Come here,” he said, wanting her, just then, but knowing that she needed a moment to calm, to have those worries so evident in the slow way she moved toward him, eased. He let her come to his side, right against his chest and for the first time, Donovan held her tight against him. “I’m not the kind of guy you need.” She sat up, looking at him. “I'm no Prince Charming. I’m not good for anyone and I doubt I ever will be.”

“So do you want this to end? You have doubts?”

He hated the idea of never touching her again. He hated that being without her touch, her taste, would bother him greatly, and if he were a better man, a stronger man, a decent man at all, he would tell her to go. Donovan knew that if he were the kind of man he once was, before betrayal and disappointment fractured whatever he thought he might want one day, then he’d thank Layla for her time and attention and tell her his doubts were too great, that their moment had passed.

But this Donovan was a selfish bastard on his best days. Still, he'd give her something, likely not what she deserved, but something he’d never given to any woman. Ever.

“If I said I didn’t care about you, that would be a lie. I do. Am I in love with you?” He waited, measuring her expression, relaxing when she didn’t look afraid. “No, sorry, I’m not. But I like the way we move together. I like that I can get lost in your body.” I like the way I can still smell your perfume on my pillow after you leave, he said to himself. “I like that you let me do things to your body that I’ve only ever dreamed about.” I like how free you are with me. How beautiful you look when you’re underneath me, falling to pieces. “I like that you don’t ask for anything but my body, for the way I make yours feel.” I love how you let me take you, let me love you like we won’t have another second of this in life.

Finding Serenity (Seeking Serenity #2) by Eden Butler Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway!!

Title: Finding Serenity (Seeking Serenity, #2)
Author: Eden Butler
Genre: NA / Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 7, 2014
Tour Organized by: As the Pages Turn
Synopsis

Mollie Malone's mom skipped out on her. Her biker dad, always loose and easy with the law, still was able to make her feel loved, and to keep her safe. But thirteen years ago, when his luck finally ran out and he landed in prison, Mollie found herself a new family - a group of friends in the sleepy little college town of Cavanagh, Tennessee, where now they all attend the local university. These girls know about the rotten roots of her family tree but accept her anyway, and the bond between them is so strong and supportive that Mollie is finally able to see past graduation to a future that is bright and secure.

But sometimes the past doesn't stay buried.

Suddenly, inexplicably, there's a shadow behind every step Mollie takes. Someone is lurking in that shadow, threatening not only Mollie, but also the new family she has claimed for herself.

And it isn’t just the past that has Mollie’s life in upheaval. Hunky former Marine Vaughn Winchester - who Mollie really would like to get to know much better - thinks Mollie is just a kid; he's made it clear she wouldn't ever be able to understand the demons haunting him. But if that's what he believes, then why does he keep sticking his nose in her business? And if he thinks she’s such a kid, why does he keep trying to kiss her?

Vaughn’s mind games are frustrating, especially since Mollie knows enough about secrets to be convinced that there's something he isn’t telling her, something he's so far been able to keep hidden. But when that secret is revealed, Mollie is forced into a situation that tests her loyalty and threatens even her closest friendships - just when the shadow of her past returns, and she's going to need them the most.
Finding Serenity - Excerpts

“Right. Enough of the G.I. Joe bullshit.” She looks at Declan, then to Donovan. “Take him down, boys.” And in an instant, both men have wrestled Vaughn to the ground flat on his back. He begins to fight them, to get their hands and arms away from him, but the pain must strike him fast; his winces and low curses tell Mollie that the pain is cresting.

When she straddles his waist, Vaughn’s protests slow to mild complaints. Around them, the players back off, giving Mollie room to work.

“Fine.” His voice is nothing more than a growl, “but if you’re going to do this be sure you get your knee in…”

“Hey, Semper Fi, shut it.” Mollie’s bare legs move along his ribs, dragging his shirt with them so that her smooth skin slides against his body. She rests her hands on the ground around his head, hovering just above him. There’s a small blink of time where she catches Vaughn’s eyes and they stare at each other, their breaths heating between their open mouths. “I know what I’m doing so can the instructions.” Vaughn wets his lips, eyes drifting down to her chest which is only millimeters from his mouth before he focuses back at her face. “This isn’t my first time.”

Despite the pain and the awkward tension building in front of their small audience, Vaughn manages a smile. “Well, will you be gentle?”

“No.” Mollie climbs onto Vaughn’s chest, lifting her knee just below the dislocated shoulder. Before she pushes her leg up, she leans down, catching a whiff of his sweat-slick skin to whisper just above his mouth. “Baby, I’m always good, but I ain’t never gentle.”

Finding Serenity (Seeking Serenity #2) by Eden Butler

Finding Serenity
What happens when a MC President's daughter meets a Ex-marine?

Sparks, awesome sparks.

“What are you waiting for, Semper Fi?” A small, teasing peck and she nibbles on his lip.
“Fucking touch me already.”
“Ma’am, yes ma’am.”

Mollie Malone is the daughter of the President of the Ministry of Malice MC. Her dad was taken to prison when she was a young girl and she was forced to live with her mother who didn't care about her. The only benefit of living in Cavanagh was that she met her best friends there and they have become like sisters.

As an adult Mollie is a DJ and when she meets ex-marine Vaughn Winchester she let's him know she is very interested in him. Unluckily for Mollie he runs hot and cold. Sometimes she thinks he is into her and sometimes he just seems cold. But, once her life is in danger, Vaughn seems to be a constant fixture in her life.

“Tell Malone his package has arrived.”

Vaughn is a loyal guy and he will do whatever he can to keep Mollie safe. He has secrets which tortured him and made it hard for him to fall for Mollie but he can't resist her either.

“You smell so damn good.”
A wicked glint flicks in her eyes and she pulls him forward, feet on his shoulders. “I taste even better.”

I liked Finding Serenity. My favorite books are when the heroine is independent and smart. Mollie knows how to take care of herself and she is extremely loyal to her dad despite knowing that he has done bad things in the past.  She has great friends that were there for her when she needed them.

Vaughn was great for the most part.  I had some issues with him second guessing himself and always following what his sister said.

In regards of the rest of the bunch, it was nice to see Autumn and Declan going strong and I can't wait for Donovan and Layla's story.
I wish Eden would write more about Mollie's dad. He deserves some happiness, especially since he was married to a witch.

“You’ve never met Mr. Nicky ‘Mojo’ Malone.

The cop Neil Ryan was also an interesting character that I hope to see again.

“You know you can call me Neil. Here you go,” Ryan says, giving Mollie a business card. He leans against the door jamb and that flirty, sweet smile returns. “My, ah, home number is on there, if you ever need to talk. You take care of yourself, Mollie and remember, my shifts ends at six. Anytime you want that drink, you let me know.”

I'm definitely reading the next one.

“You don’t know what you’re asking for. I’m broken, Mollie. I’m a fucking failure.”
“Well then, Semper Fi, you’re my broken failure.”

Chasing Serenity (Seeking Serenity #1) by Eden Butler

Chasing Serenity
Autumn McShane has experienced tremendous loss. Her father walked out on them when she was a teenager. Five months ago, Autumn was in a motor vehicle accident which took her mother's life and almost left her unable to walk again. But, Autumn was persistent. She is walking and she is trying to run again. A year ago, her boyfriend Tucker Morrison left her too but now he is back in town and he wants her back. However, she seems to be unable to take her eyes from the cocky new Rugby player.

Declan Fraser has moved from Ireland to Cavanaugh to play the game that rules his life. Too bad the captain of the team, Tucker is blocking his path, not only on Rugby but with the girl he kissed after a drunken escapade. Declan finds himself more intrigued by Autumn and the more time he spends with her the more he wants her. Can he convince her to give him a chance?

"Wear something casual. And tight. And low cut. No, just something comfortable. #CantWaitToSnogYou"

Declan and Autumn's relationship fragile as it is, can be broken by a huge secret one of them is keeping.

The story is set in Cavanaugh which is a small Irish settlement in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Rugby plays a huge deal in everyone lives.  Our heroine is Autumn and she is a teacher now. She is also a geek and her 3 friends (Mollie, Layla, Sayo) are too. I felt bad for all the loss that Autumn had to go through but was impressed with her desire not only to walk but to run again.
Declan's first appearance had me worried but the more page time he had, the more I liked him. I will say he is a rough diamond. He would say whatever was on his mind without sugarcoating it.  I knew he was hurting when he was pushing Autumn away.
Some parts of the story were a little slow and I wished Autumn would have stayed away from Tucker altogether.
Overall the story works and I will read the second in this series.

“You know, in late spring, there is a group of synchrony fireflies that swarm in the Smokies,” I say. “It’s beautiful. There are six seconds of total darkness and then in perfect synchrony, thousands of bugs light up six times in a three second period before going dark for six more seconds."
