Cover Reveal

Second Chance by Allyson Sinclair

Second Chance
by Allyson Sinclair
Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

Anabella Stewart had the perfect marriage, children and a husband who loved her unconditionally or so she thought. She'd built her life around them for ten years until she was blindsided with the truth of who her husband really was, and everything she held dear and believed in evaporated in an instant.

Anabella's heart filled with darkness and the only glimmer of light is the love she holds for her two young daughters. She’s content in her 'no-one can hurt me life', it’s controlled, she isolates herself, studies, goes to work and just keeps breathing.

A freak accident helps Anabella find her way out of the darkness when she meets Nikolas Turner. After the death of his parents he has a decision to make; return home to England or take over the reins of the family company.

As fate, would have it Anabella crashes into Nikolas' life. She’s everything he thought he didn’t want from a relationship; a single mother who’d depend on him for comfort and support he didn’t know he could give. Being with her means not only loving her but also becoming a father figure to her children.

When life offers you a second chance, even when you don’t think you need one, you hold on tight with everything you have.

~ Synopsis ~

When Stella Jo Chandler gets an offer to work at the Second Chance Ranch celebrity rehab facility right after graduating from Texas A&M, she’s tempted to turn it down. She wants to help real people with real problems, not spoiled celebrities going on vacation for publicity. But growing up on her family’s ranch left her with a love of horses that draws her to the opportunity. How bad can babysitting a bunch of strung out celebrities be?

What she didn’t count on was being roped into a tangled mess with infamous rocker and three-time rehab drop out Van Ransom on her first day. And she sure didn’t expect to feel the overwhelming attraction that pulls her to the man who has more issues than she can count on both hands. Like the hotel rooms and tour buses he’s famous for trashing, the havoc he could wreak on Stella’s heart would be irreparable.

Van isn’t at Second Chance for publicity or because he’s suffering from “exhaustion”. He’s on the brink of destruction, and he needs the kind of help Stella isn’t sure she can give. But without her, he'll lose everything. Because he’s on his last second chance.

TOP TEN WRITING MUST HAVES

I get asked about my writing process and where I write so I wanted to share my Top Ten MUST HAVE’s for writing sessions!

  • My MacBook Air (& its charger)– It’s light and travels well!
  • My headphones/ear buds – Because not everyone in the library/bookstore/coffee shop wants to hear my Spotify book soundtrack apparently. (weirdos)
  • A pen & notebook – Yes, I write lots of things out by hand still! Call me old fashioned! #iprefervintage
  • My iPhone – The notes app is my friend!
  • Bottled water – so I don’t dehydrate
  • Iced coffee – So I can stay awake
  • My reading glasses – For years I got migraines while typing, until I started wearing them! #lifesaver
  • Snacks – Sometimes it’s chocolate, or granola and dried fruit, or a protein bar, just something so I don’t get hunger headaches.
  • Pepcid Complete – Not kidding. My characters give me indigestion. Or it could be number 6…
  • Excedrin Migraine – Are you sensing a theme with the headaches yet? Hours at the computer and looong nights make this miracle drug very necessary. I might be slowly destroying my liver or something, but writers gotta write! ;)
So there is my complete (and very unglamorous) list of writing session must haves!

Last Second Chance (Second Chance #1) by Caisey Quinn

Stella Jo Chandler applies for a job at the Second Chance Ranch after she graduates from college. The Ranch is a place for celebrities to undergo rehab for ninety days. She has an affinity for horses and used to ride them until she was hurt by one. Now, she likes to take care of them only.

"Have a thing for dark horses with tortured souls"

Van Ranson is the leader of the band Hostage for Ransom. He has been told to clean up his act or he's out of the band. Being forced to join rehab has him on the brink of blowing this last second chance.

Stella is shocked when she meets Van. She feels the instant connection and she knows she shouldn't give into her attraction for him. She could loose her job or even worse her heart. Van realizes that he could be kicked out of rehab if he fraternizes with an employee which will mean saying bye to his contract with the record company.

I liked this book.  It was a fast read and I liked both characters.
Stella was sweet despite her past and the lack of love from her parents. Once she realizes she likes Van she admits her to herself instead of spending chapters pushing him away.
Van was a true bad boy but he seems to grow as a character. He wanted to be better for himself and for Stella.
I was glad that their story centers mostly on them without having other love interests. It is a standalone but there will be more in the series (yay to no cliffhanger).
I do feel that the ending was too rushed, maybe getting one more chapter would have been ideal to explain their time after rehab.

"If you never so much as touch me again, I'm afraid I'll lose my mind"
