Every Little Thing by Samantha Young

Title: Every Little Thing
Author: Samantha Young
Series: Hart's Boardwalk #2)
Publisher: Berkley
Release Date: March 7, 2017

Hartwell, Delaware—the perfect place to get away from it all, and find what you never knew you needed…

Bailey Hartwell has many reasons to feel content—her successful business, a close circle of friends, and her steady boyfriend…even if their romance feels staid after ten years without a serious commitment. The only challenge in her life comes in the form of sexy businessman Vaughn Tremaine. She thinks the ex-New Yorker acts superior and that he considers her a small-town nobody. But when Bailey’s blindsided by a betrayal, she’s shocked to discover Vaughn is actually a decent guy.

Vaughn admires Bailey’s free spirit, independence, and loyalty. As his passion for her has grown, his antagonism toward her has only worsened. Every little thing Bailey does seduces him. But when Vaughn’s painful emotional past makes him walk away in fear he will hurt her, it opens an old wound in Bailey, and she uncharacteristically retreats.

Once Vaughn begins to realize he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he has no choice but to fight like he’s never fought before to convince Bailey that the love they’ve found together only comes around once in a lifetime.

"you take my breath away."

Every Little Thing was wonderful! It made my romantic heart very happy.

This is the second novel in the Hart's Boardwalk series but I think it can be read as a standalone. The book takes us back to the small town of Hartwell, where everyone in the boardwalk knows each other's business.

We met both of the main characters in the first book: Bailey and Vaughn.

Bailey Hartwell and her siblings inherit her family's Inn when their parents moved to Florida. Bailey is a hard-worker, strong minded, passionate and trustworthy individual. She would do anything for her town or her friends. She has been in a relationship with Tom for a decade but things are not moving forward. When she discovers his infidelity, she is more affected by losing him as her friend than as her boyfriend. It doesn't help that for the last few years she has been attracted to Tremaine, the hotel owner. She has always thought he was hateful but he was there for Cooper and Jess, so he might not be as bad as she thought.

Vaughn Tremaine is a powerful business man. He moved from NYC and open a five-star hotel in Hartwell's boardwalk. He has made the town his home. He knows they don't consider him part of the town yet although it seems things are changing now that he has become Cooper's friend. He is also aware that Bailey doesn't like him and in a way, Bailey terrifies him. He's attracted to her and her personality. He knows she's loyal and determined. He knows Tom doesn't deserve her but he's not sure he does either. Instead, he wants to keep her at arm's length. Disagreeing and fighting with her, is the only defense he has and yes, sometimes he goes too far but she gives it right back without delay.

I love novels depicting enemies falling in love and this pair did a great job at hating each other in order to mask their attraction for each other. It took Bailey's friends and her own family/relationship ordeal to realize Vaughn was a good man. For his part, Tremaine needed a little nudge from his father and his friend Cooper to realize what he had in front of him and not to let it go.

Bailey said whatever was on her mind. She had no filter and this made their interactions very refreshing.

Every Little Thing is full of great scenes. There's romance, excellent banter, and tons of passion. It's a magnificent addition to this town's love stories.

Every Little Thing was a very romantic book that had humor, family values, and so much more. One of my favorite types of romances are romances that are about enemies falling in love, and this book handled that type of romance really well. The romance made me smile with joy and it also made me want to scream with frustration. I thought that tug and pull was quite addictive. The romance was very passionate and full of banter, which I enjoyed a lot. I also enjoyed the main characters in this book and the side characters as well. I want to read about these people forever!

The main female character, Bailey, was great. I loved how she was always happy and full of positive energy. She never let negativity completely tear her down, which I appreciated. I also really liked how she was a bit of a firecracker and that she wasn't afraid to say what she was thinking. That lead to a lot of banter that made me laugh out loud! My only issue was that I wish she would have given Vaughn a bit more trouble for the one thing that he did. I felt like it was kind of glossed over and I was expecting more of a reaction from her.

Vaughn had a lot of sweet and swoony moments that made my heart skip a beat. I found myself falling for him right along side with Bailey throughout this book! However, Vaughn was a bit of a jerk. I found myself wanting to slap him quite a few times! I understood that he had a lot going on and that there were things in his past that made him the way he is, but I still didn't like that he had so many asshole moments. He redeemed himself by the end of the book, but it still bothered me in those moments. Also, his friend Oliver was the WORST. I wish Vaughn wouldn't have been friends with him because he was such a scumbag. Vaughn deserved better friends!

I love the town that this series takes place in and I will forever wish I could live there! The town felt so quaint and perfect. It is one of my favorite settings in a contemporary romance! I also love the people who live in the town. I really like how the author made sure to include the people in the town and I wanted to learn more about each person. I am so excited to read about all the different characters and see them find love.

Overall, this book was addictive, steamy, funny, and charming. Fans of this series and author will devour this book! If you are looking for a great contemporary book and series, then I would definitely recommend picking this up!

I've been waiting for this book for months! The tension between Bailey and Vaughn in The One Real Thing was INTENSE and yippee I was finally able to read their story, so back to Hartwell we go!

Bailey captured my heart instantly! She's outspoken, sassy, and has a huge heart! She welcomes people with open arms and is faithful to a fault, except for with Vaughn. Vaughn's the competition, with his montrosity of a hotel, and his killer good looks. It just burns Bailey especially because she's unequivocally attracted to him and there's nothing she can do about it, which I just loved! When Bailey and her long time boyfriend's relationship hits a rut she's hell bent on changing that, but what she finds is not what she expects at all and Vaughn seems to be there with open arms. Vaughn is so sweet to her when she finally lets her vulnerability show, and seems to be the rock she needs.

The sizzle between these two was just too much! Vaughn seems to be the rich cocky player, but he's really not that way at all. He's in Hartwell for the calm and peaceful life it offers and having the fiery outspoken Bailey there in just an extra bonus for him. I guess soon enough things are not so peaceful for Vaughn in Hartwell because his relationship with Bailey changes and things get complicated.

I swear there is something mystical about Hartwell. This charming little town by the sea where they welcome you with open arms, but there are many many secrets to be revealed, and I'm coming along for the ride. Samantha Young knows how to write a romance that will leave your heart aching for more. The setting she's created for this series is one that everyone will fall in love with!

The One Real Thing by Samantha Young

Release Date: September 6, 2016

Welcome to Hartwell, a quiet seaside escape where uncovering old secrets could lead one woman to discover the meaning of a love that lasts…

While Doctor Jessica Huntington engages with the inmates at the women’s correctional facility where she works, she’s always careful to avoid emotional attachments in her personal life. Loss and betrayal taught her that lesson long ago. But when she comes across a set of old love letters in the prison’s library and visits the picturesque town of Hartwell to deliver them to their intended recipient, she finds herself unable to resist the town’s charm—and her attraction to the sexy owner of a local bar proves equally hard to deny.

Since his divorce from his unfaithful ex-wife, Cooper Lawson has focused on what really matters: his family and the boardwalk pub they’ve owned for generations. But the first time Jessica steps into his bar, Cooper is beyond tempted to risk his heart on her. Yet as their attraction grows hotter and Jessica remains stubbornly closed off, he begins to realize it will take more than just passion to convince her there’s only one real thing in life worth fighting for….

“if you’re destined for true love, you’ll find it on the boardwalk.”

This book was adorable. Samantha Young has a perfect understanding of what a love story should be!

From the first page, I knew I was going to like this book. It had a smart heroine and a handsome hero who had a heart of gold.

When Jessica Huntington, the women's prison doctor, finds letters concealed in a book, she decides to read them. The letters are written by an inmate forty years ago. The woman was writing them to a man named George and explaining the reasons for leaving him and marrying someone else. In just a few letters, this woman put into words all her feelings for George. Jessica can't stop thinking about the heartache this couple had and she decides she wants to see George and give him the letters. After all, she has a vacation coming up and Hartwell sounds like a beautiful town to visit. Jessica soon discovers that the town is not the only thing which appeals to her, the owner of the bar is making her rethink her whole life.

“And for the first time in a very long time I wanted everything with a man.”

Cooper Lawson has learned from his past mistakes and he won't dismiss the feeling that he has a true connection with Jessica. He's attracted to her not only because she is beautiful and smart but because he can sense she is lonely and he wants to change that. He's determined to make her feel welcome and to make her smile more often. He also likes how she seems to fit just right in Hartwell. He hopes she will want to stay and be part of the town.

“The piece of the puzzle that had been missing … he’d found it.”

After finishing this book, I was ready to pack my bags and move to this beautiful town of Hartwell. As someone who lives close to the beach and find it quite peaceful, I was able to relate to Jessica. She was lonely and she needed help from a few people to discover the truth. I love how she opened up to the town and their people. She was also able to help many without realizing it. I wasn't crazy about pushing Cooper away but I can forgive her.

“I’m in this for the long haul, Doc.”

Cooper was everything a leading man should be. He was gracious, funny, sweet but also opened up about his feelings and he was assertive. He knew what he wanted and was ready to fight for it. He had me constantly swooning.

you’ve made your mark. You made your mark on me.”

I'm super excited to read about the rest of the characters...there are so many I like and I want to see them happy stat!

I am a huge Samantha Young fan, so I was obviously very excited to get my hands on this book! When I decided to start this book, I was in the mood for an adorable romance. Thankfully, this was the perfect book to hit the spot! The One Real Thing was a delightful read and a great way to start off this new series!

The setting of this book was such a charming town that I found myself getting lost in. I loved the people and the vibe of the town. I want to pack up my bags and move to Hartwell! Hartwell is the perfect example of a quaint and adorable town. The only "issue" I had with the town was that everyone in the town was gorgeous! It almost made me roll my eyes whenever a new character was introduced because they were always described as extremely attractive.

Cooper was the perfect book boyfriend. I completely fell in love with him, and I know most readers will too. Cooper was romantic, warm, caring, and practically perfect. It was easy to see why Jessica fell for him! I thought Jessica was a likable main character. I was annoyed with some of the decisions she made, but I liked her overall.

The romance in this book made me swoon so many times! Samantha Young knows how to write an amazing romance.

Some parts of this book were a little slow. It was easy to see that this book was setting up a lot storylines for the future books in the series. Even though I understand that is necessary, I also thought that made of some of the chapters drag.

Overall, I thought this was an enjoyable read! I am very excited to continue this series, and I would recommend this book to all romance fans!

Samantha Young never disappoints. She has this way of making me utterly adore her characters, so when I heard that she was writing a brand new series I jumped at the chance to read it. It was perfect timing for me because I was craving a feel good love story!

When Dr. Jessica Huntington finds some letters hidden in a book in the women's correctional institute she works at they draw her to a seaside town, and little does she know she's about to run into Cooper Lawson. Not only does she run into the super sexy bar owner, but she seems to hit it off with everyone in the town and before she knows it she feels at home.

Young didn't just make Jessica fall in love with this close knit seaside town, but she made me fall as well. There is such an alluring aspect to this story, with all the elements that come into play. The characters, boardwalk, and the beach just make everything so romantic! I was so enchanted by this book every step of the way, as the people of Hartwell say, “if you’re destined for true love, you’ll find it on the boardwalk.”

A fantastic and enthralling start to a brand new series for Young.

Now give me more! *grabby hands*

This book! This book was SO amazing! I hate comparing books to other books or authors, but when I started this one it reminded me so much of a Nicholas Sparks novel. The spontaneity, the letters, the indecision… and then the small town. All components of a great Sparks novel. The more I got into the story, the more I couldn’t put it down.

Dr. Jessica Huntington works as a doctor at a woman’s prison. When she finds old letters in a book she feels like she owes it to the writer to deliver the unsent letters. She uses her vacation to visit this small town and immediately makes friends. She even has caught the attention of a very hot, very single, bar owner.

***

I love books that deal with fate and happenstance. When reading it’s almost magical to watch the love and affection between the characters. The intense connection that you can feel grow with every page was very evident in THE ONE REAL THING.

Samantha Young’s writing left me intoxicated and dying for more. Jessica and Cooper’s story and the build up kept me turning pages as quickly as I could.

One thing that really stuck out for me in this story was the community. Everyone had each other’s back… and they were all so close and connected. I love that aspect of small towns. I can’t wait to read the next book and fall back into love with this beautiful community.
