Making a Murderer meets Scandal in this story of police corruption, family secrets, and illicit affairs from bestselling author K.A. Tucker, celebrated for her “propulsive plot twists and searing seduction” (USA TODAY).

Noah Marshall has known a privileged and comfortable life thanks to his mother, the highly decorated chief of the Austin Police Department. But all that changes the night she reveals a skeleton that's been rattling in her closet for years, and succumbs to the guilt of destroying an innocent family's life. Reeling with grief, Noah is forced to carry the burden of this shocking secret.

Gracie Richards wasn't born in a trailer park, but after fourteen years of learning how to survive in The Hollow, it's all she knows anymore. At least here people don't care that her dad was a corrupt Austin cop, murdered in a drug deal gone wrong. Here, she and her mother are just another family struggling to survive...until a man who clearly doesn't belong shows up on her doorstep.

Despite their differences, Noah and Gracie are searching for answers to the same questions, and together, they set out to uncover the truth about the Austin Police Department's dark and messy past. But the scandal that emerges is bigger than they bargained for, and goes far higher up than they ever imagined.

Complex, gritty, sexy, and thrilling, Keep Her Safe solidifies K.A. Tucker's reputation as one of today's most talented new voices in romantic suspense.

Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite genres and luckily Keep Her Safe falls into this category. I enjoyed reading it just like so many of Mrs. Tucker's other books.

So what's the story about?

Noah Marshall's world turns on its axis when his mother, the Chief of the Austin Police Department decides to tell him a secret which she has carried with her for years. After he learns about it, Noah's life will never be the same and he's determined to get to the bottom of the deceit and fix his mother's mistakes.

Gracie Richards's life has not been easy. When her father, Abe Wilkes was treated as a corrupt cop and her family was disgraced, she had to move into a trailer park in The Hollow. With a junkie for a mother and having no one to help her, she will fight to keep the family afloat. When Noah comes knocking, she's not sure about him but the more she gets to know him, the more she realizes, he's the real deal.

K. A. Tucker has a way of creating great characters with engaging plots, making me a fan of her work. I truly enjoyed her stories and I knew I was going to like this one too. I like that the romance was there but the suspense was as much of a factor too. Both Noah and Gracie were great for each other and of course, having a pet like Cyclops is always a plus.

Cliffhanger: No

I was in the mood for a really suspenseful novel, and this book really hit the spot. K.A. Tucker created such an addictive and suspenseful plot with am extremely memorable romance within this book. I don't really want to talk about the plot of the novel, as I don't want to spoil any of the suspense! However, there were so many emotional and enthralling moments throughout this story. A few plot points were a bit predictable, but there were still so many moments that genuinely surprised me! I was glued to the pages of this book from beginning to end.

The two main characters, Gracie and Noah, were such well-developed, yet flawed, characters. The author really took the time to make each character feel so genuine and realistic. I grew personally attached to the two characters and genuinely wanted them to both get happy endings. The difference in their upbringings and the strains it brought on their relationship felt so well done. The author carefully and subtlely brought up social and racial differences in a mature and honest way. I really felt like it was well done, and I am intrigued to see how other readers interpret these topics.

The romance in this book FREAKING KILLED ME. I wasn't expecting to become so attached to the romance in this novel! I was actually anticipating the romance annoying me. A lot of times, romances in suspense novels can really feel like they are taking away from the plot, however, I thought the romance was wonderfully executed. The romance in this book felt so intimate, raw, and realistic. There were so many obstacles that the couple had to overcome, and I enjoyed being with them every step of the way. I SHIP THEM SO HARD. I WANT 500 MORE BOOKS ABOUT THEM!!!

Overall, this was an extremely well written and exciting novel. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a suspenseful romance novel.
