She never imagined her heart could ever dance again…
Former dance student Sara Hart had aspired to grace the stage on Broadway, but a reckless decision forced her to renounce that dream. Years later, while struggling with an ungratifying job and an even more unsatisfying love life, she literally stumbles upon a dangerously sexy stranger who sends her heart—and her body—into hyperdrive. His touch makes her feel alive again and sparks a desire to rebuild her dance career. But Sara is still haunted by the demons of her past. One dark lie could cost her everything.
He’d stopped believing in love …
Real estate mogul Tom Wright caters to the rich and famous. He lives the life of the perfect bachelor—partying hard and dating the most beautiful women in Manhattan. But he has one golden rule–no commitments. Ever. Then he meets sexy Sara Hart, and something about her makes him want to throw the damn rule book out the window. Every time she’s near, the blood in his veins pulses with a raging fire he can’t contain. But Tom’s shadowed history is resurfacing, unearthing ghosts he’d rather remain buried.

“You haven’t said much about how you feel…about this.” He waved a finger between us.
Gulp.
What the heck did he want me to say? That my knees turned to gelatin every time he came near? That no matter how hard I tried to stay away, I would always end up here, wanting to be with him? I could have poured my heart out to him, but I took the easy road instead. “I’m not exactly sure what you mean,” I said. “Do I like you? I wouldn’t be naked, wrapped only in a bathrobe having dinner with you in your apartment if I didn’t.”
“So, that’s it? You…like me?” He couldn’t mask the disappointment in his voice.
“Tom, what do you want me to say? We just met.”
“You think I don’t know that?” His head spun toward me, his hot gaze burying into mine, his voice startling me with the brashness of its tone. He must have sensed the tremor that rattled through me at his words and he lowered his voice. “Sara, you think it doesn’t cross my mind too, how crazy this is? You stumbling into my life only one week ago and not being able to rip you out of my head, no matter how hard I try? You’re like a drug I can’t get enough of, the heroin that’s about to turn me into some type of addict.”
Well, when you put it like that.
“I’m scared too,” he continued, silencing my thoughts, his eyes still seated in mine with a fire he could barely contain. “Scared of what might happen if I reach over and take you into my arms.” Then he lowered his gaze, seeming abashed, his voice grim. “Mostly. Scared of what might happen if I don’t.” He looked back up, his eyes shadowed. “Baby, you’ve got me so confused, I don’t know what I’m doing anymore.”
Thunderstruck, I chugged the rest of my wine in one swig. How was I supposed to follow all that? I couldn’t deal with so much intensity. It was one thing to feel these things, another to have someone recite back exactly how you felt, as if they’d dug deep into your chest cavity and excavated your soul. He terrified me in the sweetest most surreal sense of the word. Not knowing how to react, I stood up to pick up the dishes, but Tom grabbed hold of my waist and pulled me in between his indecently spread legs. Unintentionally, I rested my hands on his thighs, feeling the strength and power of the muscles beneath his pants, too aware of the level of intimacy, but not backing away from the intrusion.
“Leave that,” he said firmly, and rooting his sultry gaze into mine, he breathily added, “I know what I want, Sara. As much as you want to deny it, you feel it, too—this electricity that singes us both when we touch. I might have denied myself your taste last night, but dammed if I’m going to let you slip through my fingers again.” He took a loose strand of damp hair from my face and tucked it behind my ear, slowly grazing my cheek with his long finger and tracing my jaw.
Succumbing to his touch, I closed my eyes and felt the soft press of his lips on mine. He nibbled, the sensation of his hot tongue slowly parting my mouth and tasting me with his wetness sent shivers down my spine, desire coiling in my groin. Tom held my face in his hands, and as he kissed me, he whispered through heated breaths, “Stay with me tonight.”
I tried to resist his invitation.
Really, I did, but it was a losing battle. Everything he’d professed spun in my mind. I knew it since the first moment I laid eyes on him. I knew this man was meant to be in my life. Denial was not serving me any purpose. I wanted to be cradled in his arms and be absorbed into him like never before. Every ounce of my being raged with need.
I need this.
I need him.
And not wanting to separate from his mouth, I nodded in agreement, sealing my fate.
I was fortunate enough to read an early copy of Wicked Dance and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this story. Olivia Boothe has created a completely engrossing story, full of complex characters and all consuming moments.
Tom and Sara meet in an almost meet-cute way, busy coffee house, spilled coffee, and charming smiles. That's how the best romances start right? That's the easy part because they are most certainly complex. They each have demons they are dealing with, meaning they have messy pasts and seem to be utterly tormented, but are somehow still living their daily lives. I loved seeing how they navigated this relationship because neither one of them has much experience with them. Almost everything is difficult and opening up proves to be almost back-breaking! The one thing that is easy is the love, that's effortless. And that's the one thing that we live for, so I was rooting for them! Sara could be stubborn as hell, and Tom could get upset a little quickly, but they were made for each other! There was the unmistakable fiery passion between them that just seemed to overflow into their arguments as well.
I am certainly hoping for more of Tom and Sara's story because I feel like there is so much more to tell. This story had everything I was hoping for, with its passion driven characters and excellent story line. Boothe's debut novel is one that will leave you wanting more!
