Percy Jackson and the Olympians #3 & #4
by Rick Riordan

Titan's Curse
Book 3

IT'S NOT EVERYDAY YOU FIND YOURSELF IN COMBAT WITH A HALF-LION, HALF-HUMAN.

But when you're the son of a Greek god, it happens. And now my friend Annabeth is missing, a goddess is in chains and only five half-blood heroes can join the quest to defeat the doomsday monster.

Oh, and guess what? The Oracle has predicted that not all of us will survive...

Another fun and exciting addition to this series! I really enjoyed meeting some new characters, especially Nico. Nico was adorable and I just wanted to hug him forever. One of my favorite characters was missing almost the entire book, which I think was the reason I didn't enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed the others. Overall, I liked this book a lot! That ending left me so excited to just jump into book 4!

The Battle of the Labyrinth
Book 4

Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to worse.
In this fourth installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop the invasion, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth - a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn.

This book was SO good. SO, SO, SO GOOD. I could not stop reading this book. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK AND THIS SERIES.

AND NOW...ONTO THE FINAL BOOK...

Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1 & #2
by Rick Riordan

The Lightening Thief
Book 1

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

I am so late to this fandom, BUT I AM SO EXCITED TO NOW JOIN THE PERCY JACKSON FANDOM. I honestly don't know what took me so long to read this book.

This book was action packed and hilarious. Rick Riordan's writing was addictive and I never felt like the characters were acting immature (considering they were 12 years old). Annabeth and Percy were fantastic. I don't really need to go on about this book because I am pretty sure everyone knows how great this book is.

TIME FOR BOOK TWO.

The Sea of Monsters
Book 2

The heroic son of Poseidon makes an action-packed comeback in the second must-read installment of Rick Riordan's amazing young readers series. Starring Percy Jackson, a "half blood" whose mother is human and whose father is the God of the Sea, Riordan's series combines cliffhanger adventure and Greek mythology lessons that results in true page-turners that get better with each installment. In this episode, The Sea of Monsters, Percy sets out to retrieve the Golden Fleece before his summer camp is destroyed, surpassing the first book's drama and setting the stage for more thrills to come.

This book was just as addictive as the first book! I was hooked on this book from page one. Rick Riordan managed to make this book funny, relatable, heart felt, and thrilling. I am so excited to continue reading this series and see what else is in store for Percy and his friends!

ALSO, THAT ENDING?! TALK ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS. WHAT THE HECK.

Touching Fate by Brenda Drake

Aster Layne believes in physics, not psychics. A tarot card reading on the Ocean City Boardwalk should have been a ridiculous, just-for-fun thing. It wasn’t. Aster discovers she has a very unscientific gift—with a simple touch of the cards, she can change a person’s fate.

Reese Van Buren is cursed. Like the kind of old-school, centuries-old curse that runs in royal families. Every firstborn son is doomed to die on his eighteenth birthday—and Reese’s is coming up fast. Bummer. He tries to distract himself from his inevitable death…only to find the one person who can save him.

Aster doesn’t know that the hot Dutch guy she’s just met needs her help–or that he’s about to die.

But worst of all…she doesn’t know that her new gift comes with dark, dark consequences that can harm everyone she loves.

Aster Layne is a teenager who's trying to change and stop falling for the bad boys. She made a promise to her mother and it's time to turn a new leaf. She believes in physics, not magic. When her friend takes her to a tarot reading, she learns something about herself she wasn't expecting. She's a fate changer and just with a touch she can change the fate of anyone.

Reese Van Beuren is running out of time. He needs a fate changer to help him live beyond his eighteenth birthday and he's starting to loose hope. Finding Aster makes the world of difference. Now, he just needs to make her fall in love with him and save him from his curse!

~~

I fell in love with the cover and had to read this book.

Aster has 3 siblings and she is just like a regular teenager. She is trying to stay away from bad boys. I liked that when she learned of her power she didn't go crazy and she took it in stride. Aster tried to help the people who needed it.

I liked Resse too. He knew his time was limited and he didn't want to die. Nevertheless, when he needed to protect Aster and her family he did.

I have a few questions about the story. Does Aster's sisters have her power too? It would be interesting if they all do.

One thing I didn't like about the book was how rushed their relationship moved along. I knew he had a time constraint but I was hoping for more time before they fell for each other.

Cliffhanger: No

I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun this book was. I thought the plot of the story was so interesting. I have never read a book like this before, and I thought Brenda did a great job of creating a fun and magical storyline. The main male character, Reese, was so swoon worthy. I adored him and his adorable accent. He was my favorite character in this book. I also really liked the other main character, Aster. She was snarky, loyal, and brave. She tried her best to understand her powers and save the ones she loved. I really admired that.

My major complaint about this book was that the romance developed too quickly, and that was why I didn't give this book a higher rating. Aster and Reese definitely had a lot of cute moments, but they were just too sudden. It made the romance feel a little unbelievable. I would have liked to see them have more of a slow burning romance. I also felt like the romance almost took over the plot of the book. I would have liked to seen the romance dialed back a bit.

Overall, I enjoyed this book! I would definitely recommend this book to people who like YA romances mixed with magic, strong family ties, and friendship.
