“It always amazes me how it is so easy to appear one way to the people around you but to live inside as someone else entirely.”

Safe With Me is a psychological thriller. One where you are not sure who's really the crazy one.

The majority of the book is told from Anna's perspective. Anna is a young woman who's a postal worker. She seems to have a routine which she follows to keep her anxiety under control. Thirteen years ago, something awful happened to her family and Anna seems to be the only survivor. Anna doesn't have any friends. She does have a relationship with her neighbor Joan Peat, who has known her since she moved next door when she was just a child.

Everything changes when Anna witnesses a car accident involving a motorcycle. To her shock, the woman responsible for the accident is someone from her past.  Amanda is her name. Anna stays with the victim, a man who's fighting for his life. She can't leave him when he asks her to help him. Anna learns his name is Liam and she won't disappoint him. She decides right then and there to keep him safe from Amanda. She vows not to let Amanda hurt anyone else.

Safe With Me had an interesting set of characters. They weren't necessarily likable. They were all hiding pretty big secrets.  Most of the time I cringed not knowing what Anna was going to do next. She was so determined to protect Liam from Amanda that she was willing to do crazy things including breaking and entering, stalking or messing up at her job. Regardless of her issues, I was counting on her to come out as a survivor.  The poor girl had suffered enough.

I love psychological thrillers and Safe With Me delivers some great twists captivating my attention until the end.

Cliffhanger: No
