Before Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn

Title: Before Tomorrow
Author: Pintip Dunn
Series: Forget Tomorrow #1.5
Publisher: Entangled TEEN
Release Date: October 31, 2016

In a world where all seventeen-year-olds receive a memory from their future selves, Logan Russell's vision is exactly as he expects—and exactly not. He sees himself achieving his greatest wish of becoming a gold-star swimmer, but strangely enough, the vision also shows him locking eyes with a girl from his past, Callie Stone, and experiencing an overwhelming sense of love and belonging.

Logan’s not sure what the memory means, but soon enough, he learns that his old friend Callie is in trouble. She’s received an atypical memory, one where she commits a crime in the future. According to the law, she must be imprisoned, even though she's done nothing wrong. Now, Logan must decide if he'll give up his future as a gold-star swimmer and rescue the literal girl of his dreams. All he'll have to do is defy Fate.

The novella is written from Logan's POV. It starts from the moment that he turns seventeen and his future memory is given to him. In the memory, he realizes he will be a gold star swimmer but also he sees Callie in his future, the girl he hasn't spoken to in six years.

Logan also has to deal with his feelings about his future memory and his parents learning about it. He believes his father wouldn't have been happy if the memory wasn't a successful one.

I was excited to read Logan's POV. It shows how much he cares for Callie and how guilty he feels about what he let happened to his brother.  This only makes me more excited about the next book in Forget Tomorrow series.

Train's Clash by Jamie Begley

Title: Train's Clash
Author: Jamie Begley
Series: The Last Riders #9
Publisher: Young Ink Press
Release Date: November 1, 2016

Beware of what you wish for; it might just come true.

Train swore never to let a woman get under his skin unless it meant forever, and forever only meant belonging to The Last Riders. He had believed his one brief sexual encounter with Killyama was a hit it and quit it. Instead, her green eyes haunted his memories. Then when he tried to convince the woman he was serious as his “more the merrier” lifestyle became a painful reminder of the life he lived, Killyama used his own club against him to keep him from what he wanted.

Killyama was holding out for a man who could offer her forever, and Train wasn’t the forever kind of man. He was a Mr. Here and Now; the wicked warrior in her dreams. He might be a walking, talking sex machine, but she needed more than that. So, until he proved she was the only one sharing his bed, the only part of her body he was going to see was her ass walking away.

"Expectations came with chains that you couldn’t break from. Train would be damned if he would let anyone keep him from accomplishing anything he wanted to."

I was so freaking excited about this book. I kept tabs on Jamie's FB wall and she decided to hit publish early. Atta girl!!

If you haven't read her books in her published order you can enjoy this book but you would be missing so many tiny details that have made this MC series one of my all time favorites. Jamie has a way of making scenes in the past important for her future books. She also gives heads up in regards to what might come true in a later book. I don't think I have been as invested in a couple since Shade and Lily's book as I was for Train and Killyama.

"A smart warrior would try to win her hand and win the war. Bring your princess home on her terms when she’s ready."

Train has always been the easy-going Last Rider. He was in the special ops team as some of the other members. He's also a pilot and he made a huge mistake when he gave a ride to Killyama and said the wrong thing. So many things have happened since then but he has never forgotten it. Train knows he wants to be with her one more time. He actually wants to convince her to be part of the Last Riders. Of course, not all the members are in agreement but neither is Killyama. From what we know, she is loyal to the club Stud rules and to her friends. Friends she has had since middle school. She is strong and lethal but as we learned in this book she has such a huge heart but hates to be acknowledged.

Train and Killyama are nothing short of volatile together. They would have to overcome so much to be together. Two clubs, her past, his moronic comment after their first ride together, her job, her friends, and so much more.

“When you sleep at night, dream of me, as I will dream of you. So even in our dreams, we will never be apart.”

Picking up a book in this world is a sure treat for me. Jamie Begley has a way to immerse you in the story. She makes me care deeply about the characters and their vulnerabilities. I was happily surprised with Train. He was patient and loving. He recognized what he had and what he could lose.
Killyama was freaking AMAZING. Such a great character. No wonder the Last Riders could feel threatened by her. She is a darn smart lady, just as many of the female characters are.

I love one of the plot lines. I didn't see it coming and I know it's going to be something Jamie must need to expand on.  Cough, cough...Another book, please!!!

I can't finish my review without mentioning all the times this book made me laugh. There were so many. Of course, it also made me cry twice.

I need to say one more thing. I'm greedy. I want Greer, Jo, Ax, Ryder, all the Kids and so many other characters to get a book.

“The fierce five are still standing strong, aren’t we?” Killyama reached out, and Sex Piston took her hand, linking her other hand to Fat Louise’s, who reached for Crazy Bitch’s, who turned to T.A., who got off the bed to take her hand. “Bitches rule. Boys drool.” Killyama spoke the silly chant they promised to keep. “From fat to slim, from bad hair days and bad tatts, we swear never to steal each other’s boyfriends, or never talk about each other behind our backs—”
“I might have broken that one,” Sex Piston interrupted.
Killyama saw Crazy Bitch elbow her without releasing her hand.
“Or stop driving the green cherry breaker we all lost our virginity in—”
“Didn’t Sex Piston lie about that one? Ouch!” Fat Louise complained when T.A pinched her with her free hand.
“Despite husbands with big bikes and bratty kids, we’ll be friends, side by side to the end of fucking time.”
“Technically, Sex Piston moved away,” Crazy Bitch reminded them.
“Bitch, cut me some slack. I drive to town every day just to be with you all.” Sex Piston tried to drop her hands, but they didn’t let her.
“Um … You never said … Just how big is Stud’s bike?” T.A. sniggered. “How do we know you didn’t break that rule, too?”
“I told you about Cade. You all didn’t stop hounding me about the bitch’s code until I did,” Fat Louise voiced.
Killyama fought sleep to hear Sex Piston’s answer.
“Shut up. Stud didn’t get his nickname by driving a moped.”

Vigilante by Kerry Wilkinson

Title: Vigilante
Author: Kerry Wilkinson
Series: Jessica Daniel #2
Publisher: Bookouture
Release Date: September 29, 2016

A killer behind bars is still killing…

When the body of a man is discovered with multiple stab wounds, Detective Jessica Daniel thinks it could be another drug-related murder. But then two more victims are found with similar markings. Each of the men were hardened criminals but is that the only link?

As Jessica is drawn into her most difficult case yet, dead bodies continue to pile up and the media go to town with headlines of a ‘Vigilante’ on the streets.

Then forensics match blood from the killer to a man already behind bars: Donald McKenna. Serving life in prison, Donald is a dangerous individual with the perfect alibi. But Jessica is sure he’s lying - and that he’s not the only one.

Can she catch a ruthless killer before he takes his next victim? And as Jessica inches nearer to the truth, can she protect those closest to her?

The second novel in the bestselling Detective Jessica Daniel series is a chilling serial killer thriller full of twists and turns.

Read the first book in the series, The Killer Inside OUT NOW.

After reading The Killer Inside, I couldn't wait to jump into this one. Thank you Bookouture for approving me!

Jessica Daniel is back. It seems like a year has gone by after the events in the last book. Jessica has distanced herself from her best friend Caroline. She is now living by herself. Her working relationships are doing great but she is not dating anyone.

Her team is called in after a murder is discovered. The victim is actually a known criminal. A few days later, two more victims are found, both of dubious character. Soon, someone is saying: Vigilante.

What most don't know is the DNA left on the victims points to a man who's behind bars. Donald McKenna is in prison for life. Jessica needs to figure out if the guy is escaping, or if someone else is doing the killings by his orders plus using some of his DNA before they have more victims to deal with.

I thought the pace of Vigilante was perfect. The author gives you enough details to keep you entertained. He's also able to humanize Jessica. She's working on almost zero sleep, she doesn't confide in anyone, and she makes mistakes just like other people do. I was very disappointed when she hurt Adam. I'm hoping she can make it up to him in another book.  I also wished Garry had more involvement in the story too.  I missed him. I do like her co-workers Jack Cole, he is the voice of reason and I love David Rowlands's humor. They all know her well and support her.

Now, onto book 3.

The yokai didn’t move, just held her in place with a strength she couldn’t fight. She tipped her head back to see his face, to gauge his intent. His gaze traveled across her room, intent and analyzing. Then his eyes flicked down and he appeared almost surprised to see her staring up at him. His mouth curved into a sly grin, flashing pointed canines.

His amusement at her terror sparked a tiny surge of anger. “Let me go!”

“Ah, little miko, didn’t anyone ever tell you not to run from yokai?” His deep, purring voice sent a shiver across her skin. He leaned down as his hand on her throat forced her head back. He brushed his nose along her jaw, from her chin up to her ear. “It’s the surest way to make us pounce,” he whispered, his breath tickling her ear.

Goose bumps raced down the back of her neck and she clenched her jaw. “Get your hands off me.”
He hummed as he pushed his face into her hair, inhaling through his nose. “But didn’t you put your hands on me first?”

“I was treating your wounds.” She summoned her most commanding tone, desperately hoping her voice wouldn’t quaver. “You’re proving that your kind’s reputation is well deserved with such disrespect and ingratitude toward the person who saved your life.”

His head came up and fear shot through her that she’d offended him, that he would surely kill her now. Instead, he made a thoughtful noise, and his hands fell away, releasing her.

She almost leaped out of his lap but remembered his comment about running from yokai. With more self-control than she’d thought she had, she carefully stood, walked four steps, and turned to face him. He stayed where he was, lounging on the bed with his feet on the floor, casually propped up on one arm. His head tilted to one side as he watched her, and that slight, knowing grin played about his lips.

She sank down to kneel on the floor, mostly because her legs were shaking so badly she was afraid he’d notice. As nonchalantly as possible, she slid her hands into the opposite sleeves of her kimono and pinched her hidden ofuda between two fingers, ready to pull the paper talismans out.

“No need for that, little miko,” he remarked, each word almost caressing her. How could he have such an otherworldly yet still human voice? “I will not harm you.”

She flushed, embarrassed she’d been so obvious, but didn’t let go of the ofuda. “What was that—that assault then?”

“Assault, you call it? That little embrace?”

“You—” She broke off with a small shake of her head. If he was determined to ignore the inappropriateness of forcefully holding a woman against him and rubbing his face on her, nothing she said would change his mind. “You have the manners of a dog.”

“What did you expect? The ritual greetings of the imperial court?”

“Some respect for the person who saved your life would have been welcome.”

“Ah, yes, you did save me, and I am very grateful.” He idly tugged at a lock of his hair as his gaze slid down her and back up again. “I am in your debt. Tell me your desire and I will fulfill it.”

“My—my desire?” she choked.

He smirked again. “A favor, little miko. I am saying I owe you a favor.”

Red Winter was one of the most surprisingly delightful books I have read in a long time! The first few of this book were a little slow, the rest of the book was a thrilling adventure! Once the book picked up, I honestly could not stop reading! The plot of this book was intriguing, unique, and simply addictive.

Emi was a main character that I wasn't sure if I was going to like at first. Emi was a closed off and single-minded in the beginning. I think that was the reason the first couple chapters of the book felt slow. I felt like there wasn't a lot happening because Emi wasn't allowing anything to happen. However, once Emi learned some secrets, the book really kicked off. I was happy that Emi quickly, but realistically, became more adventurous, daring, and open-minded as the story progressed. I ended up really enjoying her character, and I am so excited to see her develop even more in the next book.

Shiro was such an interesting character. I loved that I never knew exactly what he was thinking, and I think that was what made him so intriguing. I always enjoyed every scene that Shiro was in. Shiro added excitement and humor to every scene he was in. When Shiro wasn't in a scene, I was dying to know when he was going to show up again. I fell head-over-heels in love with him and his charming self. I NEED MORE SHIRO IN MY LIFE!

This was one of those books that snuck up on me. I didn't realize I was addicted to this book until it was 1:00 in the morning and the thought of stopping brought me pain. There was just something so captivating about this book! The author's writing kept me glued to the pages.

Red Winter is a book I would recommend to any fantasy fan!

Now, GIVE ME BOOK TWO!!!!!

When a foreign dignitary is murdered, solving the crime falls to the most unpopular inspectors in the Maradaine Constabulary: exposed fraud Satrine Rainey, and Uncircled mage Minox Welling.

Sweet Ugly Lies by Nazarea Andrews

TITLE: Sweet Ugly Lies
Author: Nazarea Andrews
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Green County, Book 3
Release Day: December 2016

Gabriel Delvin is three things: a problem, a liar and irresistible. Elijah Beasley’s known that for years. He knew before they slept together, and he knew when he walked away from Gabe, unwilling to put up with more lies. The problem is he keeps going back.

Elijah Beasley is three things: a cop, a fucking problem, and Gabe’s. Gabriel Delvin’s known that for as long as he can remember. It’s why they fell into bed together, and why Gabriel stayed in Green County, when all sense said to get out.

But as the underbelly of crime in Green County comes boiling to the surface, Gabe is forced to chose between the man he’s always loved, and the family who never abandoned him.

Love has never been the problem, for these two.

It just might not be enough, this time…

A Note From Nazarea:

Gabe was never a planned character. He showed up in the first chapter of Dirty Sexy Secret, and made himself at home. He dug under my skin while I wrote Dirty Stolen Forever, this mischievous background character that was begging me to tell his story. I wasn’t going to. Remi was next. And I was so excited to share his story.

But.

Gabe was here first and patient. So here is. You can read a tiny bridge short story from Gabe’s POV now, and make sure to grab SWEET UGLY LIES on release day!

Carrot Cake and Ugly Lies.

Read all of Elijah and Gabriel’s story in

Sweet Ugly Lies.

I make a cake for a man who may never show up.
That's the thing. The bitch of it all. I'm waiting. And he fucking knows it. And I can't make myself stop.
I texted him earlier, and got the standard response.
We need to talk.
Which I then ignored because whatever the fuck else we are, talking isn't something Elijah Beasley and I have ever done.
I see no reason to change that now.
The simple truth of it all--the one I sure as hell won't admit to my baby brother sitting drunk and picking at the chocolate cupcake he's holding, or Elijah or fuck, even Hazel--is that I miss him.
I miss Eli.
He's cooled things off between us, has hidden behind his sister and his fucking badge and I should let him.
Fuck, I know I should let him. Getting involved with Eli had only ever been a bad idea.
Doesn't mean I've ever considered walking away. Doesn't mean I don't want him. If anything, it makes the whole fucked up mess more tempting.
Aiden is humming morose questions into my shoulder and I kinda want to shove a cupcake in his face just to shut him up. There is a knock on the door and I sit up. I hadn't heard that ridiculous Roadrunner that Eli sometimes borrowed from Archer.
Maybe it was Colt, come to further screw over my brother.
And that was just an infuriating thought.
It's not though. Well. It is. But if Colt is standing there with wide worried eyes and a hopeful twist to his lips, so is Eli, his face blank and his big hands shoved into his pockets. Watching silently.
I hate him for his impassive stare. For the way he never seems affected by anything.
Well, except when I'm riding him and he's cursing and pouring filth down my ear like a fucking porn star.
I don't even look at him as Aiden takes Colt by the wrist and leads him away, and if my baby brother pulling a Marine around like a bad puppy isn't amusing, nothing is or ever will be.
I turn without looking at him. “I need coffee.”
Eli huffs a little, trailing me into the house. His fingers find my hips when he comes up behind me in the kitchen.
He's so fucking big. Six foot and some change, with shoulders so broad they make me itch to rake my fingers over them. To dig my nails in them while I fuck him and lick a path down between them.
I roll my hips, still in his hands, into his dick and he laughs. A strangled noise that tells me I'm getting to him.
“Didn't come here for sex, Gabe,” he says, his voice breathy and low against my skin. I shudder and he groans, pushing into me.
“Whatdya want then?”
“I want you to talk to me, Gabe,” he murmurs and I freeze.
Talk.
About those two days and those ice cold bastards. About being held by the twins and Hanna.
All the things I wish I could tell him and I can't. The words stick in my throat and I shake my head. I feel his huff of annoyance and I twist in his grip. “C’mon, Gigantor. Talking is overrated.” I smear a little frosting from his cake on my finger and lick it clean while he watched, his eyes going dark.
“You can't avoid this forever, Gabe.”
It's been almost three weeks since I fucked him. Since before I was kidnapped and Aiden arrived in my house and Eli started treating me like spun glass.
So fuck talking. I lick my finger clean and then grab him by the shaggy long hair that is just a little ridiculous and so fucking hot I can't stand it.
Use it to drag him down until I can kiss him and lick the taste of sugar and spice and pecans into his mouth.
And it works.
Because whatever else we are. Whatever fucked up ugly lies are between us.
This is true. This is our center.
He groans into my mouth and hitches me up, until my ass hits the counter and the cake pushes across it, smearing frosting as he fucks into mouth with long wet strokes of his tongue.
Tomorrow.
Tomorrow we’ll talk. And I'll lie to him. But tonight.
Tonight there is only this sweet truth.
