Brave the Heat (The McGuire Brothers #1)
by Sara Humphreys

I'm a sucker for small town romances and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one.
Jordan (Yardley) McKenna left her home town without giving her boyfriend Gavin Maguire much of an explanation. Fifteen years later, she is back in town but she is not alone, she has her two children, Lily and Grace, with her.  Jordan is starting over after her divorce plus she is dealing with her family issues too.

Gavin is the Fire Chief in Old Bookfield. He's a good guy but he has never wanted to settle down with any of the few women he dated. He loved Jordan once and no other woman has made him want to do it. Now, Jordan is back in town and his feelings for her are all coming back in full force. He still wants to know the reason she left him in the first place.

Brave the Heat had a good story line. I love second chance romances. The main characters have matured and they are ready to move forward. No games to be played. They know what they want and their love for each other was tangible. I liked the way Gavin behaved with Jordan accepting her apology and moving ahead.

I liked the secondary characters. Gavin has more brothers (Tristan, Ronan, Finn, Dillon) and I'm hoping Mandi and Ronan get a book next.

Cliffhanger: No
