In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken
The Darkest Minds #3

I am so sad that this series is over, because I loved it so much! This book was my least favorite of the series, but I still really liked it!

I felt like the beginning of the book was a little slow, but after about 100 pages, the book began to pick up the pace. After that, the book was just as exciting as the others. This book was a lot darker than the others. It was not as light and fun as the first and second book. This book had a lot of angst that made me want to hit my head into a wall sometimes. The lack of communication between characters in this book was so frustrating! They would keep secrets from one another to protect each other, but it just strained their relationships even more. The angst in the relationships between the characters almost gave me a headache.

Even though the characters were frustrating at times, I still loved them. They were flawed heroes, but I think that's what made them great heroes. I was so happy to have Zu, Vida, Chubs, Liam, and Ruby together and kicking butt in this book. As I said earlier, there was a lot of miscommunication between the characters, but once they would actually talk, it lead to some really tender scenes in the book.

I really liked the way the story was wrapped up in this final book. There was enough closure to make my heart so happy. The last few pages of the book really made my heart warm. I am glad that the final book didn't end completely open ended or really sad. It was happy and extremely hopefully. I was smiling after I closed the book. There were things about this book I didn't like (as I mentioned before), but I did enjoy the book as a whole. This was a good way to end the series. I am happy I read it and went on a emotional journey with these wonderful characters. I still recommend this series to anyone thinking about starting it!

I can't wait to see what Alexandra has in store for us in the future, because she is an amazing author. Everyone needs to read this series ASAP. This series will not disappoint.
