The List by Anne Calhoun

Release Date: March 3, 2015

THE LIST is about Tilda and Daniel, a married couple on the cusp of divorce.  The story starts off in present time with the couple in therapy speaking about their marriage.  We discover that Daniel and Tilda have been married for 6 months, but have only known each other for a year.

The story then flashes back and it begins to tell us about their relationship.

Tilda is a “stationary” expert.  She believes in the lost art of pen and paper communication and owns a store that carries only the best parchment.  She also plays “matchmaker” for some costumers whom know about that service.

Daniel is an FBI agent.  One glimps at Tilda and he knows exactly what he wants, but Tilda and Daniel couldn’t be anymore different. What starts off as a sexually charged relationship, ends in marriage and the beginning of their divorce.

THE LIST was just okay for me.  I didn’t connect with Tilda at all.  She was cold and I had no idea what her intentions were throughout the story.  I knew she was hiding something but had no idea what.  The secret that came out did explain her behavior, but it didn’t help me sympathize or connect with her.

Daniel honestly made the whole story.  He was warm, and loving, and so patient with Tilda.  He knew he loved her from the beginning and was always there for her.

“God***mit, Tilda, I’m not a martyr.  I’m not throwing myself on the pyre of your issues.  I’m just better than the people who’ve left you.  That’s why I stay.  Because you’re amazing and I’m in love with you and I don’t f***ing quit just because things get tough.”

Overall it was an entertaining read.  It kept me interested and I had to find out what Tilda was hiding!
