The Master is the second book in the Game Maker Series.

Catarina Marin is hiding from her husband. For three years she has been on the run. Moving every six months. She thinks it's time to move away from Miami, her latest city. She believes her husband is in Miami looking for her. When she needs money to escape her escort friend has a Botox accident, and begs Cat to replace her in her next job. Desperate times calls for desperate measures and Cat can't pass the money she urgently needs.

Maksimilian Sevastyan, a russian politician, likes his women blonde and tall. To his surprise instead of the escort he requested, a short brunette is at his door. She is different than what he's used to but he can't seem to let her go. After a great night together, they part ways but their separation doesn't last long.

My thoughts:

I like the progression on their love story. I thought Cat was funny, sexy and smart. She had goals in her life which despite what she was running from, she kept working on.
Máxim changed into a more likable character. He's part of the Mafyia and he had a horrible childhood. I'm glad he was able to open up to Cat and shared pieces of himself with her.

One thing I would like to see more is a little more action. Having Cat as his prisoner didn't leave a lot of room for it. Overall, I enjoyed it and I'm intrigued with Dimitri (Máxim's brother). Is Jessica his HEA?

Cliffhanger: No

I’m so excited to write this review.  I absolutely loved this story.  I was unable to pick up another book for a few days because I couldn’t get this one out of my head!! Best. Feeling. Ever!  THE MASTER is book 2 in The Game Maker series (Book #1 is THE PROFESSIONAL).

Catarina “Cat” Marin is on the run from her husband.  She has 6 rules for survival, one being to never stay in one place for more than 6 months.  Needing quick cash to get out of Miami, she agrees to be an escort for one night.  She didn’t realize how much would change after meeting Maksimilian Sevastyan.

Politician/ Mafiya boss Maksimilian Sevastyan is very specific about the women he spends his time with.  Expecting a tall slim blonde, he is shocked when a short, curvy, brunette walks through the door.  Even more surprised when he can’t stay away from her.   Her quick tongue and flippant attitude fascinates him.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I mean it.  I feel for it so hard, I had to pick it back up and reread parts of it right away.  Maxim is such an intriguing character.  Even with his extremely bad attitude, you can’t help but love him!

He curled his fingers, buffing his nails. “I know, baby girl, I’m that good.”

Cat was a perfectly written female character.  She was tough.  She was smart.  She knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.  With as much that was dumped on her, she dealt with it.  And, she was just so damn funny!

I’d just reached Sevastyan, so I paused and draped myself over his back.  “Oh, there’s no sharing.  I’m Maxim’s alone.  Isn’t that right, mi Tesoro?” My treasure.  “I’m his baby-mama.  Or I would’ve been.  So close,” I sighed to the men, my words heating Sevastyan’s ear.  His muscles tensed against me.  “You see, I’m not very bright.  Someone like me wasn’t able to discern the manifest economic inutility of a woman my age getting pregnant with a strange man’s kid.  “I giggled.  “As my island grandmother always advised.  ‘Don’t use your brain, mi preciosa. Use your uterus.’”

I’ll definitely be rereading this very soon.  I laughed (a lot). I cried. I swooned.  I was on the edge of my seat the whole entire time.  THE MASTER, to me, was the perfectly written story!
