Her Unexpected Hero (Unexpected Heroes #1)
by Melody Anne

Alyssa Gerard is leaving Paris after her modeling career is over and the person whom she trusted betrays her. Her manager and lover has taken off with all her money. She has nothing else to do but to move back home with her parents. They are living in a small town in Montana.
While waiting in the airport she meets a sexy stranger. After striking a conversation, she realizes it might be dangerous to pursue him since he doesn’t do relationships.

“I love to solve mysteries.”
“I don’t think you could solve me, Jackson.”
“Challenge accepted. I’ll give it my best shot.”

Jackson Whitman is bitter. He lost his wife and daughter and he promised himself never to give up his heart again. He does one-night stands and nothing else. When he meets Alyssa he knows he wants her in his bed. No strings attached.  Convincing her to spend the night with him in New York on New Year’s might be harder that he thought.

After a night to remember, Alyssa walks out before there is any drama.
Months later to her surprise Jackson reenters her life. Not only he’s in the same town as she is but he’s her new boss. Avoiding him is going to be more difficult now then ever.

This is my first book by Melody Anne and I gotta say, it won’t be my last. Alyssa and Jackson were great characters. Alyssa reinventing herself after losing it all. She takes it one step at a time and when life throws her a curveball she has to adapt.
Jackson’s transformation was amazing! He kept on opening up and doing the right things. It was impossible not to fall in love with him.
Let’s not forget about the family ties. I love them all. I can’t wait for Camden, Spence and Michael’s books.
I also love their dad Martin and his friends including Joseph. Their matchmaking skills are excellent!

This was a story centered around family and the notion that sometimes the best things in life aren't planned.

Alyssa is sitting in the airport, waiting for her flight home from Paris, when Jackson takes a seat next to her.  He's sophisticated and downright delicious.  And he can't keep his eyes off of her.  There's something about Alyssa that makes Jackson want to get to know her better. So he gets her seat switched next to his in first class.

They spend the flight flirting and even have a sexy make-out session. She's a little insecure and convinced he couldn't want anything more and he keeps reminding himself that he doesn't do relationships.  That doesn't stop either of them from spending their lay-over night in New York, together.  What was supposed to be a one-night stand, changes the course of everything.  Especially when their parents get involved.

"Baby, when you're good, you know it."

This is the first book that I've read from Melody Anne and I found it to be a quick, entertaining read with a great twist.  What I loved  most was the family aspect of the story.  Especially, Jackson and all of his brothers.  And I couldn't help but to laugh at the parents acting as matchmakers.  It was really cute. I'm looking forward to seeing who they're going to match up next.

So why not a higher rating?  There were a few things that bothered me.  I struggled with the connection between Alyssa and Jackson in the beginning. It felt really rushed. I wanted more dialogue between them.  It was a lot of inner thoughts and then bam, they were making out.  After they reconnected, it was a slower build and it felt more sincere.  I just wish that Alyssa hadn't kept the truth from Jackson for so long, considering the circumstances. It won't keep me from reading the next book though.
