MrsLeif's Review
Ella Abrams suffered the loss of her sibling to suicide while she was in high school. Fast forward a couple of years and she's in college studying psychology and volunteering at the suicide hot line. One night she gets a phone call from Daniel. He's in pain and guilt is eating him alive. The caller made Ella want to help him after triggering some deep emotions in her. She's determined to make a difference.
On the other hand, her romantic life is nothing to be happy about. Her boyfriend lives in a frat house and seems to have lost interest in her. Ella finds herself stealing glances to Quinn. Quiet, handsome and broody Quinn. Every time they are close to each other, sparks start flying.

Quinn is the catcher of the baseball team. He's living a life full of secrets and he's about done doing it. He stopped doing what he loved, cars were his passion but instead he finds himself doing business school to appease his family. People who really don't know him. He wishes he could've Ella but he won't repeat past mistakes.

I liked Ella and Quinn. They were good for each other. Ella needed to realize her boyfriend wasn't worth it and Quinn was there when she needed the push. Quinn was sweet and he knew how to treat Ella and I believe Ella helped with his healing in a huge way.

This book also deals with suicide which unfortunately is quite common. Hopefully, this book makes someone who's thinking about it get some help.

“We always seem to end up against a door,” she breathed out. Her words faltered as I licked and nipped my way down her collarbone to the scoop of skin above her breasts.

“I have fantasies about what I want to do to you against this door.”

Cliffhanger :No

Ella and Quinn are so sweet!

They didn't realize it when they first met, but they were brought together by tragedy. Ella and Quinn both suffered through the loss of someone close to them. Ella's brother committed suicide in high school and Quinn's best friend was killed in a car accident. A car accident that he blames himself for. He's contemplated suicide to escape the blame and guilt. To the point that he's called a suicide hotline. Little does he know that the girl he is crushing on from the frat house and the suicide hotline girl, Gabby, are one in the same.

Quinn is a quiet, intense, brooding guy that doesn't easily let people in. He's hasn't been living his life for himself. He's living Sebastian's life plan. Playing baseball and living in a frat house. Ella is able to see through the facade Quinn has put up and makes him realize he should be doing what he loves, because life is worth living.

This book was a slow build. There was so much tension between them which I loved. Christina Lee is a master at building that delicious want and need between her characters. I only wish that their relationship had progressed a little quicker. I loved how the story unfolded though, especially how it was revealed that Gabby was Ella and Quinn was Daniel.

Kai is still my favorite though. ♥
