Seagrass Pier by Colleen Coble

Synopsis

Elin Summerall was one of the lucky ones. Not only did she get a heart transplant, but the donor was a perfect fit. A miraculously perfect fit.

But when Elin begins having violent flashbacks--and vivid dreams of being strangled--she realizes that she has been the recipient of more than just a new heart . . . Elin is remembering her donor's murder.

Her strange affliction has attracted some unwanted attention: from the press, from the authorities . . . and from the killer himself. Now, living alone with her young daughter and aging mother, Elin is being stalked--by a man she's only met in her nightmares.

The police are dubious of her story, but one off-duty FBI agent is eager to help her: Agent Marc Everton, the father of Elin's daughter.

Of course, he doesn't know about that. Yet.

Now, in a remote cottage on Hope Island, Elin and Marc must probe the secrets buried in her borrowed heart. And there's no time to waste. One man is desperate to silence her--before she remembers too much.

MrsNorthman's Review
4/5 Fangs

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure what to expect, especially after discovering that it's a Christian fiction book, which is not my usual genre, and that it's the third book in the Hope Beach series. I didn't feel like I was missing any significant information, not having read the first two books, so in my opinion it can be read as a standalone.

Since having a heart transplant, Elin has been experiencing violent nightmares. In every terrifying dream, someone is strangling her. Things only get worse when someone starts stalking Elin and leaving her threatening notes. After some research she discovers her heart donor was murdered and her nightmares are actually a glimpse of what happened.

The only person that Elin can convince to help her is Marc, an FBI agent, that she had an affair with several years ago. They have great chemistry, but the guilt from their affair, forces them both to keep their distance. That and the major secret Elin has been keeping from Marc.

Turns out he's the father of her four year old daughter, not her husband that recently passed away. Marc only agrees to help Elin because he believes the killer is also responsible for his partners murder and he wants to be there to protect his daughter. I thought the story was interesting and full of suspense. I would recommend it for anyone that likes a second chance romance.
