Cover Reveal!
Under Contract (The GEG Series, #1) by Jacquelyn Ayres

Book: Under Contract
Author: Jacquelyn Ayres
Genre: Erotic Romance/Erotic Humor
Charlotte McKendrick is your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. She has three beautiful children, a loving family, special friends, and the most wonderful, adoring husband. Her life is a dream. Er . . . let’s try this again. Charlotte McKendrick is not your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. Yes, she’s got three beautiful children, a loving family (all of them lingerers—you’ll see), and her friends are special, all right! As far as her wonderful, adoring husband, what a joke! That bastard abandoned her and the kids six months ago. Now, she will do anything she can to survive and provide for her children. Even if it means signing on the dotted line . . . Mitch Colton is the CEO of Colton Technologies. Most of his year is spent traveling around the world, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. He doesn’t have time for a traditional relationship and the BS that comes with it. He doesn’t do the “marriage” thing, the “kid” thing, and he certainly doesn’t do the “falling in love” thing. All that said, he still wants someone to come home to. Someone who will offer everything he wants, and nothing he doesn’t. He realizes loyalty paired with these kinds of demands won’t come cheap. No problem. What he doesn’t realize is that once Charlotte McKendrick signs that dotted line, he’ll be paying with a lot more than money.

I am a Domestic Engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging, yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine) and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work all of this magic in the beautiful state of New Hampshire. Before becoming a Domestic Goddess (not really), I spent over a decade working in the medical field where I wore more hats than the Queen. I have had a love for the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn't reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures. Finally, I have been putting a pen to paper allowing my characters to come to life. When I don't have a pen and paper in hand, you can often find me laughing at the conversations my characters are having in my head.

About FIVE WAYS TO FALL: Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her. Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about. If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…

EXCERPT: Ben I love the angry ones. Of course, anyone who knows me would argue that I love any and all women, and I can’t exactly disagree. But I love the angry ones the most. They’re a challenge to be conquered, the reason for their fury usually fitting neatly into three buckets: insecure, scorned, hormonal. And this chick gazing up at me with fire in her caramel eyes? I’m betting on bucket number two. “My, what an awfully bright red shirt you have on,” she pushes out between gritted teeth, as if she’s trying to be polite but can’t hide her disdain. I didn’t know what I was walking into when the punk-rock chick with the crazy-ass muscular body waved us over, but her friend with the purple hair and her back to me had me intrigued. Now that I’m getting a good look at her face, I know who I’m spending my last night with in CancĂșn. She’s not what some would call traditionally “pretty.” Her eyes are slightly too big and far apart, her nose is slightly too long and slender, and her lips—though nice and wide—are on the thin side. Yet something about all of that put together makes her sexy as hell. Maybe it’s the little nose ring. Or maybe it’s the way her decent-sized tits are pressing up against me, her low V-neck tank top—a casual shirt, telling me she’s not trying to pick anyone up—giving me a fine view of her cleavage. Whatever it is, my dick is certainly pleased. “You like it?” I ask. An irritated glare flickers to the material. “No.” I can’t help but chuckle at her candor. “Will you at least give me a head start before you gore me?” Those thin lip curls into a condescending smirk. “Bulls don’t see color. That’s a myth.” The only thing I love more than an angry girl is a smart, angry girl. This is going to be fun. “Well, how about I solve the problem for you.” I take a step back from her and swiftly yank my shirt off, exposing six days of suntanned skin and an upper body that I know looks damn appealing because I work my ass off to keep it that way. The random catcalls from the tables around confirm it. And then I simply stand there and grin like the cocky ass that I am as Angry Girl can’t keep her eyes from scanning the muscles I’ve honed since my college football days, her lips parting ever so subtly. I see the shift in her, the moment where she realizes that, though she’d prefer to castrate the entire male species right now, she can’t ignore her attraction to me. At least, that’s what I want to see.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Maybe Someday
Sydney Blake feels like she losses everything when she turns 22. She looses her cheating boyfriend, her best friend Tori and her apartment all at once.

Thanks to Ridge Lawson, she has a place to stay. He's the guy she has listened to playing his guitar from her balcony for the last few weeks.

Ridge Lawson writes songs but lately his inspiration is gone. When he gets a chance to meet and help Sydney who can help him write the lyrics, he jumps to the rescue. The closer he gets to Sydney the more he tries to avoid falling for her. Ridge loves his girlfriend and the last thing he wants is to hurt her feelings. He just needs to convince his heart....

My thoughts:

I read Maybe Someday and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't read any spoilers or reviews. It was nice to be shocked. As soon as the "shock" happened I knew I was going to love this book. I guess I have a soft spot for books like this.

Colleen did a great job of building up the attraction between these two. I felt so bad for Sydney that at some point I got mad at Ridge for pushing her away or putting her in that position to begin with. Of course, Colleen makes me like him even more by the end. His words were just perfect.

Maybe Someday was powerful novel. It moved me as I have come to expect from Colleen's books.

I'm excited about a certain cardiologist and Maggie but I sure hope Warren and Brennan get their own book too.

Favorite Quotes:

Me: If I ever start dating again, don’t be like Tori and sleep with my boyfriend, okay?
Ridge: I can’t make any promises.

"I assumed that maybe someday, when I was ready, things could have developed between us."

“Good call,”

"My heart made its choice, and it chose you."

“It’s you,” he says aloud. “My heart . . . wants you.”

"I feel like my maybe someday just became my right now."

Sex Piston (Biker Bitches #1) by Jamie Begley

Sex Piston
Sex Piston is The Last Rider's spinoff.

The story begins with Sex Piston defying Stud. She knows the new President of the Destructors, Stud wants her but she doesn't want to give him the time of the day. She knows his type and she wants to stay clear of him and his men. She has forbidden any of her friends to let the Blue Horsemen near them.

Stud is the president of The Blue Horsemen and now he's also the president of the Destructors. He knows Sex Piston is not going to give in easy but he's determined to win.

They both prepare for battle with neither wanting to be the loser.

My thoughts:

I was a little worried before starting this novel because I didn't know if I was going to like Sex Piston as the heroine. She came across as a tough biker girl with a bad temper.
In a way she was the complete opposite. Don't get me wrong, she was still a biker girl with an attitude but she has a great heart. She is loyal to a fault and when she lets someone in her inner circle, they are lucky to be there.

The story is told in a smooth way. Plenty of action and plenty of romance. We get both POV's. There are tons of funny situations but I also cried 3 times.

I can't wait for the other girls Killyama, Crazy Bitch, T.A, Fat Louise to get their own books. I hope one of them gets a crossover with one of the Last Riders.

I really enjoyed this one. I'm reading Shade's Fail next.

Sweet Filthy Boy (Wild Seasons #1) by Christina Lauren

Sweet Filthy Boy
Mia Holland is enjoying her freedom after graduating from college before moving to Boston and starting business school.

She used to be a ballerina but an accident in high school destroyed her dreams.

Mia and her friends drive to Vegas for a weekend. After a little to much alcohol and meeting Mr. French, she makes a hasty decision and follows him to France for the summer.

Ansel Guillaume is a lawyer. He is moving back to France. In the spur of a moment he invites Mia to Paris.
What begins as a adventure soon becomes more leaving Ansel and Mia not knowing what will happen to their relationship after summer is over.

I love Ansel. He was sweet, he was spontaneous and he cared for Mia. I like him a lot and I think Mia was lucky to find him.
SFB has funny parts and sad ones too. I'm never too tired to read one more Vegas unexpected night outcome.
I do wish this novel had a little more action.

I think the Canadian and the Aussie should get their own book. Don't you?

Changing Course (Wrecked and Ruined #1) by Aly Martinez

Changing Course
Changing Course had good characters. From the prologue, I was pulled into their story.

Brett Erickson is a cop. He loved his life until an MVA changes it forever. His wife Sarah and her best friend, Manda were in the car when they hit a tree.  Manda dies and Sarah changes forever. She becomes this hateful person who only wants to hurt him.

Years later, he meets Jesse Addison. She is the barista he goes to 4 days a week for his breakfast. Jesse is interested in him but Brett tries to keep his distance until Jesse invites him to a Bears's game. Thanks to Caleb (Brett's best friend and partner) the date takes place.
Brett opens up to Jesse and just when he seems to be moving on, Sarah is back in the picture.

Aly Martinez made me feel several emotions with this book. I felt bad for Brett. He loved Sarah and he lost her in every way possible. He lost his best friend and partner Caleb for a while too. He was so confused by his feelings towards Jesse and torn with his loyalty to Sarah.
Sarah was so great in the beginning of the book but after the accident she was so hateful and hated, I did.
Jesse was not my favorite heroine. She disappointed me more than once. Brett took her for granted and she let him hurt her more than once.
My favorite character was Caleb. He deserves his own HEA. He has suffered so much and he needs to be loved again.

Favorite Quotes:

"I knew that my life was never going to be the same. I was ruined and wrecked, and I hadn't even seen her naked yet."

"How weird is it that I want to spend the rest of the day kissing you?"

"Approximately 2,063,000 men ask this question every year. Only about fifty-four percent never ask it again."

“Because you don't work Fridays."

"I now see the sun behind the fog, and it's a damn good feeling."

"See, if you said green bean, I'd be very upset. However, if you told her an eggplant, I'd probably never wear pants again. So what's it going to be Jess?"

Necessary Force (K-9 Rescue 0.5) by D.D. Ayres

Necessary Force
Georgiana Flynn never dates her customers. She is a photographer who is shooting a calendar as a favor to her friend. When a sexy guy and his K9 partner are next she finds herself breaking her own rules.

Too bad the guy disappears the next day. But, when her life is in danger, special FBI agent Brad Lawson is back in the picture and he'll do anything in his power to protect her from a possible terrorist.

This is a novella in the K-9 Rescue series. It's short and sweet. A book you can read in just a few hours. The action and the romance were a good combination.
I love books with pets and Zander was too cute not to love.

I'm adding the next one to my TBR.

Fever (Songbird #1) by Melissa Pearl

Fever
Ella Simmons is shy. She has lost her parents and is now joining her boyfriend David after leaving community college and moving to U of C.  She is following her boyfriend's dreams.

She loves to sing to jazz music and while taking a shower she sings the music she loves. To her surprise in a stall next to her a guy is singing with her. She escapes before she can meet him. Knowing she has a connection with someone other than David bothers her.

Then she meets her boyfriend's roommate, Cole Reynolds and she is even more confused by her attraction to him.

Cole has a dream. He wants to have a bar close to the college crowd someday and he is close to making his dream come true. He never thought to settle down until he listens to The voice. He wants to find her and keep her.

My thoughts:

I thought the premise of the book was sweet. I liked Cole. He was determined to find the girl who sang next to him and he fought hard not to be attracted to Ella and to hurt his roommate's feelings. He was not scared of confrontation when it was needed.

I had more problems connecting with Ella. Her lack of independence and decision making were my main problem with her.

I do think the series has potential.

“You're putty in my hands now, right?”

~ Synopsis ~

Derek Bast, always has the final say. In business and in his personal life, things are done his way, or not at all. So when a scathing review of his new band is published in The Scene and has his record producer second guessing his artistic choices, his band mate trying to call the shots, and Bast’s manager convinced he’s impossible to work with, it’s time to hunt down the source of his problems: Bess Halprin, reviewer for The Scene, the girl next door growing up, and his ex-best friend since senior year when she decided to hate him for no reason.

The last person Bess Halprin wants to see standing in the lobby of The Scene is Derek Bast. Unfortunately, she can’t deny that the last nine years look damn good on him. She expected to hate him. She didn’t expect the way he can still tug at her emotions, or the way his kiss—and his hands—set her on fire. Bess should’ve kept her distance, because Bast was right when he guessed her review was written for revenge. The problem is, to this day he has no idea what he did—how he screwed her over their senior year. The bigger problem? She’s giving him the opportunity to do it again, because she never could resist him.

When circumstances bring them both home to Santa Cruz, Bast earns his way into the heart of the girl next door, but when they return to L.A. and real life rushes in, will he be able to keep her this time or are the mistakes in their past destined to be repeated?

~ Excerpt ~

When the hell did Bess get so feisty? I thought I had her there for a minute. She was so close to giving in. Jesus, with any other woman, I’d already be in a room upstairs, naked and sweaty.
That wasn’t something I’d ever wanted before with Bess, so it was a strange thought. There was the one time we kissed and it was as much a shock to me as it was to her. I didn’t even remember who initiated it, but both of us agreed it wasn’t something that should happen again, so that couldn’t be what she was pissed about.
Why had we agreed it shouldn’t happen again?
Oh, right, because she wasn’t whoever she was now. This Bess was a temptress, intentional or not. Her hair was silky soft, her scent somewhere on the side of floral, but with hints of vanilla that made me want to lick her like an ice cream cone. And those freaking glasses. My God, I wanted to fuck her in her thigh highs, red heels and black-rimmed glasses.
I downed half my Jameson to settle down. The point of this meeting was to get her to retract her review, not to get her out of her skirt. She’d already shot down my attempt at that anyway.
I hadn’t planned on the word vomit that came out about the day she left for college or Christmas Eve. It pissed me off, though. No matter what happened between us, no matter that we didn’t talk all senior year, she was leaving—going away—and I figured whatever went wrong between us would be put aside to say goodbye. Apparently, she’d ridded herself of me long before then.
Too bad for her, I was back and not going anywhere until I had answers and a retraction of the review she admitted had a personal slant to it.
I slammed back the rest of my drink, heard her heels clicking on the tile floor toward me, spun around and stood up.
“Ready?” she asked.
“For dinner. I’m starving.”
She heaved a sigh and gave me an exaggerated blink. “It’s been nice catching up. Good luck to you, Derek.” Then she turned and headed for the lobby. “Where do you want to eat?” I asked, not letting her off the hook. I glanced down at my jeans and t-shirt. “I’m not really dressed for anything too fancy, but I remember you love a good burger.”
She stopped and faced me, let her eyes wander over my face, then down to my chest, my waist, my legs. When she looked back up her expression was odd, almost sorrowful. “What?” I asked.
Bess shook her head slightly. “I don’t want to regret this.”
Her words were heavy with meaning. I wasn’t sure I was ready for that much meaning. “It’s only dinner.”
She reached up and put a hand on my shoulder. “It’s never only anything with you.”
I wasn’t sure she meant that in a good way or a bad way. Maybe she didn’t know either. “Burgers then?”
Bess let her shoulders relax and her mouth shift into a smile. “Burgers.”
She turned and strode toward the doors. “Forgiveness?” I asked.
“Not on the menu,” she said, flinging the words over her shoulder.
“Maybe not tonight…” I said.
“Maybe not ever.” She smiled at the doorman as we passed.

Synopsis:

My life was just like any other girl’s until the Maxwell corporate empire ruined my family and stole my future. I’d given up hoping to see justice done, but then the way to right this wrong was dropped in my lap. My job with an event planner can get me into the home of one of Maxwell’s business partners. I can find evidence of what they did to my father. I can make sure they pay. I wasn’t expecting Sebastian. Sebastian has been hired for security, but he is also the son of the man I despise. I should hate Sebastian purely on principle. I shouldn’t care that he’s sweet and funny and sexy as hell. He’ll always be a Maxwell, and that means he’s my enemy.
I can’t help but want him anyway. He seems to want me too, but only for a good time. He’s the son of privilege, and he’ll never be serious about me. He’ll also never betray his family. If he finds out what I’m really doing here, he’ll turn on me in an instant. He’ll keep me from finding justice. It’s just that I keep finding him instead.

MrsNorthman's Review:

3/5 Fangs

The books in this series are quick, short reads.  We were introduced to four Marine's: Levi, Declan, Sebastian and Cole in Duty Bound.  This book is Sebastian's story.
Sebastian has always felt like an outsider when it comes to his family.  He's an only child and has no interest in wearing a suit or taking over the family business, which disappoints his father.  When he returns from duty, he  opens a  security/investigation firm with the rest of the guys.  He's hired by one of his father's friends to provide security for an upcoming gala.  It's during the weeks of preparation that he meets Ali.
Ali works for an event planner and is tasked with putting together the gala.  Turns out the man hosting the gala, along with Sebastian's father, runs the company that screwed her father out of a job and his pension.  Ali takes it upon herself to try and find evidence that proves her father was wronged, but Sebastian keeps busting her snooping.  Ali falls for him, until she finds out who is family is.
I think the story would have been better if the authors had taken the time to develop the story a little bit more.  There was no depth or emotion, it felt entirely surface and predictable.  I loved Sebastian, but the relationship between him and Ali felt like insta-love.  She goes from hating him, to throwing herself at him, to professing her love.   I also don't understand why the authors keeping alluding that there is more to Gavin's death but don't give us any answers.

Meet The Authors:

About Noelle Adams: Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English, reads any book she can get her hands on, and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.
Her second book, a holiday novella titled "The Christmas Cottage" hit #10 on Amazon's Best Seller List on Christmas Eve. It was a great Christmas gift! Watching the numbers rise and fall is a daily roller coaster ride but definitely an exciting one! And on February 25th, she released the follow up novella - "Ever After" - available exclusively on Amazon. When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, blogging, playing way too many games of Scrabble on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 23 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

About CD Reiss

CD Reiss

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles. Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine. Spin, book one in Songs of Corruption is due to be released on 3/13, two days early. I expect a preorder button will go up around 3/10 or so. You can use any of the below links to get an announcement. Songs of Perdition, Fiona Drazen’s serial, will begin May 5th, as part of the Erotica Consortium’s boxed set. The novella will be called Kick. Fiona’s story is very dark and uncomfortable. Consider yourselves warned.
