Ice Games (Games #3) by Jessica Clare

Ice Games

The ARC was provided by the author in return for an honest review.

Zara Pritchard and Ty Randall are trying to do damage control. Their public image has suffered.

Zara was competing in the Olympics as a teenager but she did the unforgivable after falling on the ice, she walked off.

Ty Randall is a MMA fighter. He has a new nickname, Ty the MMA Biter. You can guess why.

When Ty and Zara are partnered together on the reality TV show Ice Dancing with the Stars, they have to work as a team to improve their image. They also fall for each other.

This Game series is a lot of fun. It is a fast paced book. I like the interaction between the hero and heroine. It made me smile a bunch of times.

Will definitely read the next one.

Jane's Melody by Ryan Winfield

Jane's Melody
The book begins with Jane visiting her daughter Melody's grave.  She finds a stranger there but he leaves before she can talked to him.  He does leave a silver dollar behind.

Jane is desolated by the death of her only daughter.  Her daughter had an addiction to drugs.  Jane's is surrounded by a family with substance abuse issues.  Jane goes in search of her daughter's last paycheck.  She is looking for a connection to her daughter's last few months of life. Instead she finds the stranger from the cemetery.

Caleb Cummings is a musician. He doesn't have any family and he lives in the streets  When Jane offers a home in exchange of work he can't refuse.  Soon feelings developed between Jane and Caleb.

This book is amazing.  It deals with grief, alcoholism, love, friendship, loss, acceptance.  It was different but in a good way.  I read it in one sitting.  I didn't care that there was an age difference.  Jane's friend was incredible important as a secondary character. The addition of the goat cause several hilarious scenes.

As a side note - I met Ryan at Book Bash, he was super nice.  I just wished I read his book before I went to BB.

“Okay. I don’t know if I have the right words, but love is this feeling I get when I look at you. A feeling that as long as you’re near me, or in the world even, then everything will be okay. That everything has meaning. It’s as if the world was all shades of sepia—like an old movie reel—and that everywhere I looked I saw suffering and pain. Then I heard your voice, I saw your face, and somehow the color came into everything.”

Saved By You (Maggie & Haden #2) by Kelly Harper

Saved by You
The ARC was provided by the author in return for an honest review.

This is the conclusion of Maggie and Haden's story.

At the end of book one we are left knowing that something bad happened to Maggie's family. She is devastated by the news.
Haden tries to talk to her. At the beginning she flat out refuses, but later on she listens to him.
Just as things in their relationship are getting better, Haden may need to leave back to LA.  Can she let him go?

This second part has a lot of sad moments. They are very well written.  Haden was wonderful through the whole book.  I liked this book much better than the first one.

Talking about secondary characters Kyle surprised me and I would like to know more about him.

Fixed on You by Laurelin Paige
Fixed #1

Fixed On You

Alayna Wither had some obsessive tendencies. She tries to keep her mind occupied but now that she got her MBA, she won't have school to distract her. She is in a relationship with a guy that she knows she doesn't love but he is "safe". He doesn't arise any of her triggers.

Laynie is a bartender at the Sky Launch Nightclub. She has every intention of becoming one of the managers. Too bad the club was just bought.

"Safety" is gone when the new owner walks into her life. The new owner is none other than Hudson Pierce, business mogul with a dark past too.

Alayna should avoid him like a pest but she can't say no to him. This will make her vulnerable again.

Hudson has a proposition for her and Laynie doesn't turn him down, despite knowing this could break her.

This is a darkish book, it deals with obsession and what is healthy and what is not. Maybe two damaged people can heal each other. Maybe....

The story is not done and we do have a couple of evil/semi-evil characters. I felt bad for Alayna, she has had a tough life and she is only 26. Hudson surprised me. He can be sweet and thoughtful (coffee scene). He is very redeemable. I did have a hard time connecting with Alayna, maybe because my obsessive behavior is limited to books, chocolate and Nutella. I will read the second book, I want to know how it ends.

“I’m drawn to you, Alayna. Not because I want to hurt you or make you feel a certain way, but because you’re beautiful and sexy and smart and, yes, a little crazy, maybe, but you’re not broken. And that makes me hopeful. For me.”

Bet in the Dark by Rachel Higginson

Bet in the Dark
Ellie Harris just found out her college roommate has stolen her identity and her furniture. A hot college guy, Fin Hunter, is at her dorm asking for seven thousand dollars that supposedly she owes him. The money is from an online poker game. Ellie has no idea how to play poker and can't believe her roommate has done this to her. She agrees to pay part of it to Fin by working for him until she can get the rest of the money.

Everyone in college knows Fin. This includes a couple of her overprotective brothers. Ellie wants to be independent. She has refused help from her parents and her brothers before.  She has no idea how to pay back the money she owes Fin especially when he tells her what the money is for.

Ellie and Fin become close and the more time they spend together, the more they want to be together.

This is a YA book. It had me laughing from the first chapter. I liked the story. The heroine is not damaged and she has great brothers. I wonder if they are getting their own story, especially Beckett.

"He groaned as if frustrated and then whispered almost so quietly I didn't hear him, "I'm going to keep you."

More Than This (More Than This #1) by Jay McLean

More Than This
Mikayla is faced with the worst night of her life but also with the origin of the best love of her life.
It begins with prom night going wrong. Her boyfriend is a cheater and her best friend is a liar.

Kayla/Micky/Mikayla meets Jake Andrews and his friends. They are also going to their prom. Jake invites her to his prom after witnessing Kayla's heartbreak.
She has a great time but when she gets home her world falls apart. Jake is there to help her and later on his parents too.
What happens that night seals their fate together.

This book was so emotional. It was perfect. I love love love Jake. He is a true alpha with an Aussie accent and a heart of gold. He is also quite popular as a baseball pitcher with a chance at becoming pro ("The Jake Andrews").
His family was amazing. His friends were all supportive.
Logan was the next best thing to Jake and I'm thrilled he gets his own book next.

My kindle is full of bookmarks. I much more than I love it.

Kudos to Jay Mclean. This book is a winner.

Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen #1) by Lisa Renee Jones

Escaping Reality
Lara/Amy Benson is on the run again.  She must leave New York City without a goodbye. She takes the next plane to Denver.  Amy has been sent there by her handler.  It has been years since she had a normal life.
On the plane she is seated next to billionaire Liam Stone. They have an instant connection and Liam becomes her Prince Charming.  He soon figures out Amy is hiding things and he decides to stick around for her.

Through the book we learn more about what happened to Amy, but we are still left with many questions including who are the bad guys or girls.

This book ends in a cliffhanger which luckily I knew before hand. I just have to wait until October for the next book.

I like Liam (except maybe one time) but I like Amy more. I feel sorry for what happened to her.  Starting over without knowing whom to trust must be a nightmare.

Hurry up October.

Scandal in Seattle (Great Exploitations #2) by Nicole Williams

Great Exploitations
Sienna Stevens/Eve/Ally Andrews is a part of a company that gets hired by the wives of unfaithful powerful men.  She is in charge of enticing these men to sleep with her and then someone is documenting the cheaters.
She is sent to Seattle to deal with a new "Errand". The new Errand is Henry Callahan who is her ex and the reason why she is doing this job in the first place. She is in for revenge.
But I'm guessing things are not what they seem.

So I messed up. I read this one first not knowing it was a series (my own fault for not checking goodreads first).  It is a novella/serial. The characters are interesting and I'm hooked. The only thing about this type of books is the they feel so short and you are left wanting more.

Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye

Hearts in Darkness
Is it possible to fall in love in an elevator? This seems to be what happens to Makenna James and Caden Grayson. They get stuck in an elevator in darkness for hours. This forces them to open up to each other.

Hearts in Darkness is a novella.  It was an easy read.  It was told in dual POV's. The story works, it is believable.  I love how the insecurities are not an issue and were easily put to rest.  I like that the hero is not perfect. He has a weakness and Makenna helps him through it.
If anything I wanted the book to be longer since I enjoyed both characters very much.

This is a novella in the web that is Gin's life.

It was nice to see Owen becoming the guy whom we love. He is back to his own self. I can't wait for the next book to answer my questions like:

How can he win Gin back? And who is the big Baddie in the next book?

Darkness Before Dawn (Darkness #2) by Claire Contreras

Darkness Before Dawn
At the beginning of book 2, Blake is in danger.  If you read There is No Light in Darkness you know it ended in a huge cliffhanger.
Cole is devastated but he NEVER gives up.
The story telling is most intricate. Just when you think you know something, a new secret is shared.
All the secondary characters are important (Connor, Aubry, Liam, Alex, Benny, Becky, Greg, Aimee).
Love Cole and Dean. Cole is the true love. Dean is the second next best thing.
Cole is in love with Blake. You can feel it, you believe it, you understand it.
We get answers to all the questions from the past and the present.
There was only one scene that made me upset with Blake. She shouldn't point fingers without asking first. Cole didn't deserve it.
The end is perfect and so so so so sweet.
One comment- I would love to see a book about Dean. He deserves one.

“Your pain is mine, let me carry it with you, for you – I don’t care as long as you’re with me”

There is No Light in Darkness (Darkness #1) by Claire Contreras

There is No Light in Darkness
Blake Brennan is trying to keep the people that she loves safe. But she doesn't want the man that she loves too close to her in case that she is in danger.
Blake was kidnapped as a child after the possible murder of her family. She was placed in the hands of a lovely woman name Shelley. Blake called her aunt Shelley.  Later on when she passes away she is placed in the home of a lady called Maggie Parker.  Maggie has an adopted child, Aubry (who becomes like a brother to Blake) and she is a foster mother to Cole Murphy.
Cole will become Blake's one true love.
The story telling is detailed and intriguing. I loved this book.  I love Cole.  Love the mystery.
Blake is so damaged, has abandonment issues and pushes Cole away (sometimes).  But she is also smart, loves her "family" deeply. I felt so sad for all her loss, her nightmares, the need to lock herself.
Just a warning-it does end in a cliffy- but the second book is out :)

Claire Contreras is in my list of must reads now.

“I'm in love with you, Blake. I've been in love with you from the moment I saw you. I've been in love with you from the day I was born and possibly even before then. I belong to you. My body belongs to you. My heart belongs to you. Please let me make love to you."

Thief (Love Me With Lies #3)

Thief
This is the conclusion of Olivia and Caleb's story.
If you haven't read the first two books, you are missing out. I love the first two books.

Thief is mostly from Caleb's POV, although we get some of Olivia and Noah's too. It's nice to be in Caleb's mind for a change.
Just the name of the main characters make me want them together in the end. (I love the dark duet's Olivia and Caleb)
I was so excited to read Thief.  I have been looking forward to it since finishing Dirty Red. This book is narrated in the past and the present. Duchess and Caleb are not done suffering.  Olivia is still married. There may be someone else in Caleb's life.  Some people still want them apart (cough- Leah- cough). If you love drama this is the perfect novel.  In my case, I like less suffering specially since the couple has suffered for ten years already.  I wanted more happiness.  I know RL is not like this but I'm a hopeless romantic.
I'm going to miss these characters and I was left with some questions about some of the other characters lives.
I want to mention that the cover of this book is awesome. The model is a perfect Caleb.

Spoiler Fangalert: please stop reading if you don't want to be spoiled.

<spoiler>
I was disappointed Leah didn't end with the nanny.
I was sad about the hysterectomy. I mean if Olivia had ovarian cancer stage 1- she will only need an oophorectomy with salpigectomy on the side affected and no hysterectomy is required. She could have still conceived. But, if she had more advanced cancer then she will need a debulking surgery which includes oophorectomy, hysterectomy and lymph node resection follow by chemotherapy and she would have lost her hair.
In the end I'm happy airport blue got his penny back.

Frigid (Frigid #1) by

Frigid
Sydney Bell is in love with her best friend Kyler Quinn. She has watched him sleep around during high school and now college.  She knows she needs to stop daydreaming. It's time to give up.
Kyler Quinn thinks that Sydney should be in a pedestal. He doesn't want any guys around her. Nobody is good enough for her including himself.
Fate is a weird thing. When Sydney and Kyler get stranded in Snowshoe they finally realize that there is more to them and best friends alone is not enough. But someone isn't happy with them and their life is in danger.

JA is one of my favorite writers in the whole world.
I love Cam, Aidan, Hunter and I swoon over Daemon(my favorite).  This book is another treat. I had a few issues with Kyler sleeping around not realizing he was hurting Sydney's feelings. But Sydney is at fault too, she should have taken the bull by the horns and told Kyler how she felt instead of suffering in silence. I guess I'm not used to JA heroine's being weak. They are usually a force to be reckon with.

Fool For You
Danielle Hamilton is going back home to take care of her grandmother's Inn. She left seven years ago after Oliver Garrison broke her heart.
She has a good head for business but has been unlucky in love. When she goes to the local bar The Underground she meets the sexy bartender/owner Corey Preston.
Corey is immediately attracted to her and as the weeks progress he wants more. But Danielle is adamant to keep it casual.

This book had a great beginning but I just couldn't sympathize with the heroine. She kept on pushing Corey away.  Dani's behavior was very immature.

Corey was a saint to wait for her. He is the main reason why this book gets a 2 stars instead of 1.
It also ends in a cliffhanger.

Bully (Fall Away #1) by Penelope Douglas

Bully
Tatum "Tate" Brandt has been away in France for a year. She is coming back to finish high school. She was happy away and almost forgot of her personal nightmare, Jared Trent.  He has been bullying her for a few years now.  Jared is her neighbor and used to be her best friend.  He has been keeping all the boys away from her by spreading horrible rumors. So why does she miss him so much??

I disliked Jared for all the horrible things he did to Tate. I knew why he was doing them but I would not have been as forgiving as Tate was. On the other hand, I felt sorry for him and I wanted them together.
Tate was an awesome heroine. She kept on surprising me and I got happier with her with every come back she had.

Just a little note about the secondary characters, Madoc was a surprise and I can't wait for his own book.

Beautiful Stranger (Beautiful Bastard #2) by Christina Lauren

Beautiful Stranger
Sara Dillon moves to NYC after she can't stand one more night with her cheating ex-fiancee. She takes the job offer that Bennett and Chloe offered her.
On a girls night out, she meets a Beautiful Stranger with a british accent. She decides to live a little. She is very different with him, instead of the timid Sara, he gets the uninhibited Miss Dillon.

Max Stella can't believe his luck. This beautiful woman wants him and the more he thinks about her the more he can't stay away or want to. He just needs to convince her that she can trust him.

Max was awesome. It was great to see how he succumbs to Sara's charm. Secondary characters like George made it fun to read. Of course seeing BB and BB together was great too. Can't wait for Will's book.

This is like a dessert that Christina and Lauren did for the readers. I love every second of it. It was so great to see BB so in love with Chloe. The best part was France. Sigh!

She rinsed her leg and stood, turning to clear the conditioner from her hair, and that’s when she saw me. A smile exploded across her face, her nipples tightened, and in that moment I almost shattered the glass shower door to get to her.
“How long have you been standing there?”
I shrugged, looking down the length of her body.
“Such a creeper.”

Still a creeper, you mean.” I moved a little closer, crossing my arms over my chest as I leaned against the wall.

Leave Me Breathless (Ross Siblings #3) by Cherrie Lynn

Leave Me Breathless
Macy Rodgers has had a few bad months, maybe even a few years. She is living her life cautiously after a horse accident. But why can't she avoid Seth "Ghost' Warren? Seth has danger and heartache written all over him.

Seth is back in town. He works at the same tattoo parlor than Brian Ross (the hero of Rock Me) does. They are best friends. He doesn't do relationships but he may change his mind for Macy. He was burned in a prior relationship and also has a crazy ex girlfriend hanging around.

Macy and Ghost are complete opposites but they seem to make perfect sense. They just need to convince each other of this.

This was my favorite Ross's book.  Love Seth. He was funny, witty, sweet and sexy. Macy had good scenes especially the one with Ghost's ex. I like this family/friends. Will read the next one for sure.

Bad Things (Tristan & Danika #1) by R.K. Lilley

Bad Things
Bad Things is the love story between Tristan and Danika. I know in my heart that they will end up with a great HEA.
Danika meets Tristan when he is in between apartments and Danika's boss invites him over. Since Danika doesn't want his boss's wife upset at him, she comes up with the story that Tristan is her friend instead.
Tristan is sweet but he doesn't do relationships. Danika doesn't do hook ups. Impasse entails. But fate has other plans for them and circumstances bring them back together.  However, this is not the end and we know that Tristan will break Danika's heart since we know that they are not together in Up in the Air series (for at least six years).

Love Tristan, he is a true alpha. Danika is spirited and feisty. Can't wait for book 2.

Grounded
This is the end of the trilogy. I knew I needed to read this book before Bad Things came out.

Bianca is finally sure of her love for James. She has accepted their relationship and what comes with it.
James can be super sweet at times and that makes the book worked for me. He makes Bianca his priority no questions about it. And since Bianca loves Stephan as a brother, James makes Stephan family. No plans of his separates Bianca from Stephan and this makes me love Mr Cavendish even more.
There are a lot of sex scenes, BDSM scenes (which are not my cup of tea). There is also a huge story climax before the end. The action was perfectly written by R. K. Lilley.
I loved the epilogue too and the possibility of different couples becoming a book.

Rock Me (Ross Siblings #2) by Cherrie Lynn

Rock Me
Candace Andrews is tired of her overprotective family. On her 23rd birthday she feels rebellious and decides to get a tattoo. Just in case, she'll get it where no one else can see it unless she let's them. And she knows who is the artist to do it, Brian Ross.

Brian has his own business now. He is more mature than in Evan's book. He has quit smoking (some parts of the book you can almost see the airport movie quote "bad day to quit smoking"). He has the reputation of a loose cannon but he is trying to change this. When Candace comes into his business, he can only see the sunshine she brings with her. Brian has had a thing for her. They know each other and it's about time to get even better acquainted.

I liked this Ross brother better. He knows what he wants and he is not afraid to go for it. He was sweet to Candace which was a great heroine until the last third of the book. Not enough to annoy me but enough to want me to scream at her. Overall I liked this book more.

“It’s all right. But let’s put you on the hot seat. Ever been in love?”
I’m at least ninety-nine percent certain I am right now. Ohhh, that was a dangerous thought to entertain. And her mind returned it way too easily. So easily it could have rolled right off her tongue. “No. I mean, I’ve loved someone, but, um…I don’t think there can be true, unequivocal love unless that person loves you in return. If they don’t, it’s just…unfulfilled. Don’t you think?”
He was watching her now. “Any man you’re in love with who doesn’t love you back is a damn fool.”

She wanted to laugh out loud. If he only knew… “That’s sweet of you to say.”

Love the cover. From the first time I saw it. I also liked the idea of twins. Good vs Evil or Nice vs not so nice. Maybe that's why I love watching the lying game or why I read every book about Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield (Sweet Valley high) in high school.

I didn't expect the sister to be so loathsome.  Especially, since I was a Jessica fan. But I'm no fan of Ivy's.

Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander #2) by Diana Gabaldon

Dragonfly in Amber
This book starts with Claire back in the present visiting Scotland after twenty years. She has brought her daughter Brianna with her. She has made the trip to find out what happened to the men she met in the past, to tell the truth to Brianna and to meet Roger Wakefield (this I did not see coming). Claire is prepared to tell the truth about her love for Jamie Fraser.
We learned what happened during her time in 18th century France/Scotland.

It took me three years to read the second book in the Outlander series. I had to overcome what happened to Jamie in book one. Some of my friends are Outlander fanatics (in a good way, not the crazy "I can go to the past and date the Jamie way") and kept on telling me to try again. Since Diana kept on posting pictures of the possible actor to play Jamie Fraser, I decided to give it a go.
I forgot how funny the books can be. Jamie can say the sweetest things. He can also be amusing.
Claire is a strong character and she never gives up.
Their chemistry on page is amazing. I even told my husband to call me Sassenach, he just laughed.
This series doesn't disappoint.

“Have ye got anything in here for a verra vicious headache, Sassenach?”
I peered over his shoulder, then reached in and touched one bottle.
“Horehound might help, though it’s not the best. And willow-bark tea with sow fennel works fairly well, but it takes some time to brew. Tell you what — why don’t I make you up a recipe for hobnailed liver? Wonderful hangover cure.”
He bent a suspicious blue eye on me.
“That sounds nasty.”
“It is,” I said cheerfully. “But you’ll feel lots better after you throw up.”
“Mphm.” He stood up and nudged the chamber pot toward me with one toe.

“Vomiting in the morning is your job, Sassenach,” he said. “Get it over with and get dressed. I’ll stand the headache.”

Delayed Penalty (Crossing the Line #1) by Shey Stahl

Delayed Penalty
Evan "Mase" Mason is an NHL hockey player for the Chicago Blackhawks. Getting home after a game, walking down his city's streets, he finds a badly beaten woman.  He takes her to the hospital and he stays the night, waiting to see if she survives it.
Ami Sutton has lost her family in a plane crash and she has moved to Chicago as a ballerina. When she wakes up in the hospital she is told Mase saved her.
Mase keep on coming back and when she is released he takes her to his home.
They fall for each other. But can they put their demons aside?

I loved Mase, he was awesome. Maybe I loved him because I love hockey and Chicago since I lived there for a few years. This is my first hockey book and I want to read the rest of the series.

Tangled (Tangled #1) by Emma Chase

Tangled
Drew Evans has never been in love. But one night out with the boys and he meets a woman he can't forget about. It becomes impossible when the woman he can't stop thinking about it, becomes a permanent fixation at work.

Katherine Brooks just made her dream come true. She landed the job of her life in the investment banking firm of her dreams. She is a hard worker and super smart. What she didn't sign up was for the arrogant, handsome, dedicated bosses's son, who has made it very clear that he wants her.

Drew has commitment issues. But, Katherine may change the game. Although, by the time Drew figures out what he wants, it may be too late to get the girl.

This book is written from Drew's POV.  It is hilarious at times. Love Drew's family and his best friends. It was refreshing to see "the other side".

Wicked Games (Games #1) by Jill Myles

Wicked Games
Abby Lewis is strongly encouraged by her boss to join the cast of the reality TV show Endurance Island. The show is pretty much Survivor.

Abby is not an athletic girl or a skinny hot girl. She is attractive enough and smart. To her dismay, she gets paired with Dean Woodall, a god. He is handsome, smart and athletic. They don't get along from the get-go but the more they have to share the island and the peanut butter the more they want to be together. But there can only be one winner and heads will roll (Highlander style).

I laughed a lot in this book. The story was cute and entertaining. It also has some sexy scenes which Jill Myles does a wonderful job at writing.

I bought this book because of the cover (I have a weakness in all things Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz- my Daemon Black).

Whisky State of Mind (Whisky Shots #1) by Karlene Blakemore-Mowle

Whisky State of Mind
Whisky "Sky" McKenna is the daughter of the president of a motorcycle club, the Black Mustangs. But, her father sent her away years ago while he was cleaning the club and making it a legit business. Sky hasn't forgive him for it.
When Sawyer comes for her to come back to the club, she has a  hard time resisting. Sawyer is an old crush. However, Sawyer has competition in the name of Caleb Santiago, a cop.  Sky met him at the coffee shop and he seems to be a good guy. Just what she needs.
Sawyer Riley wants Whisky back in the club and in his bed and he will do whatever is necessary to have her.

This story had so much potential. It was a fast paced read. I just wish it was longer and a little more in depth.
I like Sawyer. Whisky irritated me at times. I mean common you have a biker wanting you and calling you darling and you don't know who to pick???

Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Covenant #4

Apollyon

Apollyon is full of action. The first few chapters are awesome. Alex is back to herself but she is more mature in this book.

Aiden has proven his love for her on more than one occasion. They spent most of the book together. All the usual suspects are back.

The gods are choosing teams. Apollo is always awesome and funny. I still don't know what the deal is between him and Deacon (can't wait to know what it is).

The new addition of more gods is interesting. A huge battle is lurking.

Alex and Aiden must go to the Underworld. Good and bad things happened there.

Also, we found out who is the god behind Seth and the destruction.

This book made me cry but also made me very happy. Can't wait for Sentinel. I love Aiden with Alex but I want Seth to be redeemable too. He has been used and I know he does care for Alex. I wonder if he is mad about what happened to her and who was the one who hurt her.

Second Rate Chances by Holly Stephens

Second Rate Chances
If you had a chance to take back the man that you love, the man that got away, will you do it??

This is what Lil wants to do. She is still madly in love with Sam and Sam was madly in love with her three years ago.  But, now Sam is engaged to someone else.  However, Sam has lost his memory after falling and enduring head trauma. When Sam's fiancee calls Lil and tells her that she is needed at the hospital she can't say no. She sees Sam's father and brother and the last few years played back in her mind.
When Sam wakes up the only thing he remembers is Lil and his last memory is of them buying a house together and celebrating the move three years ago.  He can't understand what happened between them to separate them (a big secret gets revealed) or why he has lost his close friends too. Sam doesn't like his fiancee or where his life is headed.

I feel bad for Lil. She has never forgotten Sam and has not been able to move on. I'm glad she had a good friend with her.  I was rooting for Sam to break the engagement the whole time (which I wouldn't in RL- I have different standards in my books, LOL). I liked it.

Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott

Lick
Sometimes what happens in Las Vegas doesn't stay  a secret (specially if you a have a tattoo on your butt to remind you). This is what our heroine learns after she wakes up married to the rock band guitarist of Stage Dive, David Ferris.
David is not to happy with his new wife when she can't remember their night. He leaves her mentioning a divorce.
When Evelyn goes back home she doesn't stay too long in Portland. The paparazzi know about her and when David offers an out she takes it.
Now if Evelyn and David could just spend some alone maybe things will work out.

I enjoyed Lick from the beginning. David got better with each chapter. Loved it when he got jealous. He was sweet at times. Secondary characters were important too, specially Mal. I hope his book is next. Also a clean Jimmy's book will be nice.

"Seriously. I fucking love your wife, man. She's awesome, Can I have her?"

Tasting Never (Never Say Never #1) by C.M. Stunich

Tasting Never
Never Ross is not the usual girl. Never uses sex as a way to forget about her past but at the end of the day she cries herself to sleep.
During a frat party she meets Ty McCabe. Bad boy with tattoos and piercings. He approaches her but their first meeting doesn't end up in happiness. Later on after surviving a robbery they both decided to stay close together. A friendship begins but the attraction is also there.
Ty has a past, some of it gets revealed. But the puzzle is not complete yet. Can't wait to know more about him.

At the end of the book, Never is going back home after a 5 year absence. She wants to deal with her mother's betrayal and her sisters lack of support. Also, her first love Noah is there.

This is not a typical romance. It's a bit darkish. And even though, both characters have flaws, they are both redeemable.  Will read the rest of the series.

Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Covenant #3.5

Elixir

Elixir is a Covenant novella. It's also all in Aiden's POV.

This novella starts where Deity ends. So if you haven't read Deity, don't jump to Elixir.

Alex has woken up but she is not the same independent girl. She is linked to Seth in a bad way. She only wants to escape. Luckily, Apollo knows a few gods to help him keep her safe.

It is heart wrenching reading Aiden dealing with Alex. You feel every emotion he has. Some of the decisions that he made, which he thought were wrong made me like him even more.

I loved Elixir. It was perfect. Aiden has solidified as a true hero for me.

My fist connected with his jaw before I even knew what I was doing. His head jerked back as he staggered to the side. I shot forward, grabbing him by his shirt, and slammed him into the wall, rattling several paintings.

“Aiden!” Marcus yelled.
“We are not going to harm Alex,” I snarled, lifting the Sentinel onto the tips of his boots. “We aren’t going to touch a hair on her head. Do you understand me?”
Solos’ eyes bugged. “I know you love her—”
“You don’t know shit. You sure as hell don’t know the lengths I will go to keep her safe.” I dropped him and he slumped against the wall. “And if that means killing one half-blood to make sure nothing happens to her, I won’t hesitate.”
“As entertaining as you going all grrr on Solos is, we need to talk,” came Apollo’s booming voice from inside the den. “So knock it off, Aiden.”

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful #1) by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful DisasterThere

Abby has moved to a different city where no one knows her past. We know she is hiding something. She also has a great best friend who is dating a normal guy. But, when Abby meets her BFF's boyfriend's cousin her life changes.

Travis Maddox is trouble with a capital T and a capital M. He is part of an underground fighting club and he wins all the time. He has a reputation of never sleeping with the same girl twice but when he meets Abby, everything changes for him.

But Travis is not only a fighter and a chick magnet, he is also super smart. He is acing all his classes and he helps Abby study.

Abby, on the other hand, wants security. Wants a nice guy to call hers. She knows Travis is a loose cannon. He can't be faithful right? But Abby can't stay away from Maddox especially after a bet is in place.

I'm glad I didn't read any of the reviews before I started this book. I had read the blurb and wasn't sure if I would like it. But after Book Bash, I knew that there had to be a reason for people to stand in line for a while just to get a signature from Jamie McGuire (myself included. Bought the book- Did the line). It helps that Jamie seems so natural, approachable and beautiful. But I digress.

I enjoyed this book. It was the perfect July 4th beach book.

Travis Maddox is a multidimensional character. He is flawed, he is scared of falling in love and losing the girl, he is also lonely, sweet (the gift), vulnerable and has a bad temper. I think he figures out he is in love before Abby does. Yes, they both made mistakes and they were impossible at times but in the end, everything works out for me.

Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers #1) by Tara Sivec

Seduction and Snacks
Beer pong can get you pregnant.
This is what Claire learns after a drunken frat party where she looses her virginity because condoms are not 100% effective.
Plus it's hard to find the baby's daddy when you don't even know his name.
Fast forward five years later, Claire is still working as a bartender at the same bar after dropping out of college and she has a precocious little boy, Gavin, who is just to awesome to describe.
She is going into business with her best friend. But the new business may not be for her once she finds out she will be selling sex toys.
To complicate her life even farther, the baby's daddy has moved into town
.
Carter can't seem to forget the girl with whom he had a one night stand five years ago. Furthermore he can't  forget that she smelled like chocolate. He can't remember her face very well and his friend has convince him that he needs to move on.  Maybe the bartender in this new town is the answer to his prayers. But the bartender seems to remind him of something. Or someone.

Tara Sivec is a genius. This book had me laughing like crazy to the point that I had tears coming down my eyes and my husband thought I was going crazy. Love her writing style. Claire and Carter were perfect. There was no drama, no angst, no betrayal.
Was good from the first scene. Love the POV's from H/h. Secondary characters were great too. Love the T shirts too.
The whole book is a big kindle bookmark.

Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino

Sweet Thing
Mia Kelly is moving to NYC to deal with the coffee shop left to her by her late father. Her father was a musician. He loved music and shared it with her. Her parents didn't stay together because they wanted different things in life, despite loving each other.
On the plane Mia meets Will Ryan, an aspiring musician. At first she tries to avoid talking to him but when she notices he is terrified of flying she distracts him with conversation about guitars.
As fate will have it when Mia decides to get a roommate Will applies.
Mia is attracted to Will but she believes Will is like any other musician, without a real plan or purpose in life. She wants to remain friends only.  Will wants Mia in his life, they share the love for music and understand each other. He has to convince Mia that he is the right guy, the only guy for her and Mia needs to stop being scared.
This book was a great ride. At times it was a sad, happy, frustrating, angry, perfect ride. Renee has a great talent. She made me fall in love with Will from the get go. The first time he speaks and calls her sweet thing, he had me.
Mia's self discovery is maddening at times (yes I wanted to ring her neck multiple times). It was so easy for the reader to understand how much in love Will was with Mia, but Mia kept of holding back. Denying that leap of faith.
Love the references to Johnny Cash, June. Love Jackson. The secondary characters were all important. Happy to see they will call Mia on her craziness.
Lauren was a perfect addition to show how things change.
The dedication to Jackson brought tears to my eyes and I love that Heather was mentioned too.
After meeting Renee (who is gorgeous and sweet) at Book Bash, I just wish I would have read this book earlier. I would have gone fan girl on her about Will.
I will always have the memory of taking a picture of Renee embracing Sylvia Day.
“He’s in love with you.” She said it deadpan as she stared into my eyes, waiting for a response.
“How do you know?”
“I can tell and anyway, he told me. I believe his exact words were cosmic, soul-shattering, air in your lungs kind of love.”

Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Covenant #3

Deity

This book starts were Pure ends.
Alex is still devastated dealing with the loss of her best friend. She is also worried about what Aiden did for her. It can cost them both dearly.
Seth is a permanent company in the first part of the book but he is called back to the Council.  Someone has been messing with the elixir.
The Order wants to destroy Alex. Her life is in danger. Things go very south for her. But something great comes out of it, actually a couple of things. Alex must go into hiding. She must hide from Seth as well. But in the end, it may all be for nothing.

Aidan and Leo are awesome in this book. So many good one-liners.

Things I love:
Aidan
Leo
Caleb
Deacon
Seth
Luke
Marcus
"Agapi mou"
Silver eyes
Chapter 22

Things I hate:
Telly
The Order

Things I want to be redeemable:
SETH

His arms tightened around me, so tight, I found it hard to breathe. “Because I love you, we share each other’s problems. When we fight, we fight together. I’m going to be by your side no matter what, whether you like it or not. That’s what love is, Alex. You never have to face anything alone again. And I get what you’re saying. I don’t agree with it, but I will support you in any way I can.”

Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Covenant #2

Pure

Alex is still dealing with the loss of her mother. She is having problems sleeping (thanks for Seth) and she is getting exhausted by the constant training and the lack of rest. To make matters worse she is training with both Aiden and Seth. Aiden and Seth don't like each other. I can only guess why or who is the reason behind it.

On top of this emotional drama, Alex has to deal with classmates telling her she is a daimon lover, daimon attacks, the gods sending the furies.

Alex is devastated when someone close to her dies.

To make her life more miserable she is called to face the Council about her mother's actions. It's very clear someone wants her dead before she turns eighteen. Will she be able to survive?

This series keeps on getting better.
I am team Aiden but Seth plays a great role in this one. I liked him a lot. He can be sweet (sometimes), he is funny. and he is a cuddler (sigh). He does some very nice things for her in this book.

Aidan is dealing with his feelings too.  Favorite parts were the gift and zoo scenes.

Aiden grabbed my arm, pulling me right against his chest. The unexpected contact fried my brain. “If I was like every other pure-blood, I would have had you by now, without even thinking about the consequences for you. Every day is a struggle not to be like them.”
