Never Too Far (Too Far #2) by Abbi Glines

Never too Far

At the beginning of book two, Blaire is back in Alabama. She is staying with Cain's grandmother. She takes a pregnancy test and Cain finds out. He goes to Rush's house and ask if they had been intimate. Rush does not take well his personal questions and punches him.

In the meantime, Bethy has come to get Blaire back. Woods has agreed to give her her job back and she can share apartment space with Bethy.

Blaire returns and she talks to Rush. She is unsure of telling him she is pregnant.

Rush says that she is the most important person in his life

and that he loves her.

It was good to see the relationship developing but I have got to say that Woods stole this book. He was perfection in every scene he was in.

Spoiler Fangalert: I think Nan is sleeping with Grant. I really wish I'm wrong. I don't like Nan. But can't wait for Woods' book.

Collision Course by S.C. Stephens

Collision Course

This is the story is about a terrible accident affecting many lives and luckily, it's also about accepting the things we can't change and getting the help we need to heal.

Reckless (Thoughtless #3) by S.C. Stephens

Reckless
Reckless is the last book in the Thoughtless series.
Kiera and Kellan are together. She has graduated and now she is free to follow Kellan on his next tour.
The D-bags are getting national recognition and they have signed with a label.
Kellan leaves to LA first. Kiera will follow him after she finishes her last few weeks at Pete's.
The label has the idea to hide that Kellan is in a serious relationship or "married". There is the famous singer who gets to sing a duet with Kellan and the world suddenly has a new power couple.
Kiera has a hard time adjusting to being Kellan's secret but she also appreciates her anonymity. She spends her time writing while listening to Kellan perform.
Thinks become trickier when Kellan is forced to joined the tour with the famous artist.
Tragedy also strikes.
This is the best book in the series. No worries, HEA is perfect.
There are so many things I can say about this book. Kiera has matured a lot. Kellan is still as sweet as he can be. Griffin and Anna deserved their own series. Griffin has some great insights and lines that are just too funny. Watching Kellan believe that he is loved and that his biological father is there for him is very touching.
5/5 Fangs- I will miss you guys.

Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs
Mercy Thompson #7

Frost Burned

Mercy world is back.

Mercy is adjusting to her new life as Adam's mate and becoming a step mother to Jesse. She is out with him on Black Friday midnight shopping.

Suddenly, Mercy has a panic attack and crashes her car. When she tries to reach Adam through the mating bond she can't find him.

Someone has abducted the whole pack and cellphones are not safe to use. Ben has escaped and he is a big part of this book (I love Ben since book 3 when he explains to Adam what Mercy is feeling after the attack).

To save her husband, Mercy will ask help from all her friends, including the Fae in the form of Zee and Tad, his son, humans, like Kyle, and vampires like Stefan.

Mercy seems to be discovering more powers too. Maybe because of her mating bond or Coyote.

Bran and Samuel are not in this book. But we see a lot of the Moor- Asil. One of my favorites lines is said by him.

Mercy has to figure out who has the power and the knowledge to take down a whole pack. Who's behind the attack, is it the government or something more sinister ?

At the end, she does and at least she doesn't end up in a wheelchair.

I'm in love with the Mercyworld. Love all the characters and they are like family. I really miss the Marrok on this book.

Love the Cover too.

Asil ignored Wulfe. “I like you—but I’ll say it for him”—he tipped his head toward Adam—“because he can’t. You aren’t a monster, and if you insist on fighting them with toothpicks because it’s the right thing to do, all the magic in the world isn’t going to be enough to save you.”

Wait for You (Wait for You #1) by J. Lynn, Jennifer L. Armentrout

Wait for You
Avery Morgansten has started college far away from her home. She is trying to escape the rumors and horrible memories she has from that place.
Five years ago during a Halloween Party she was hurt not only physically but mentally.
She hopes to start college with a new attitude. First is to get to class on time. However, this is not to be. She is late  and in her hurry she bumps into a tall handsome guy with blue eyes and one dimple (sigh). He tries to strike a conversation but she runs away.
She is able to make new friends and discovers that the hot guy is Cameron Hamilton and that he has a reputation. But Cam is also hiding things from his past.
Cam asks her out every day and every day Avery says no until one day she says yes.
Cam tears down her walls one by one hoping she finally is able to open up to him. When things do start to unravel Avery doesn't know if she can handle it.
This story is so much more than a love story. Is also about a girl deciding to speak up, to regain the reigns of her life.
I can not say enough about Cam. He was written wonderfully and in a way, he reminds me of other awesome guys like Kellan Kyle (Thoughtless) or Will Cooper (Slammed).
Jennifer Armentrout is becoming a favorite. Her Lux series is probably one of the best I have ever read. (Love you Daemon!!)

Avoiding Intimacy (Avoiding #2.5) by K.A. Linde

Avoiding Intimacy
We know Chyna is rich and has slept with many men before Adam. Chyna always gets what she wants. She has a strong personality that we love.
The time line is around Lexie and Ramsey on break until Jack's wedding.
After someone spikes her drink at a bar, she meets Adam and fell for him. However, readers of the series know that they broke up and this is what happened to her during this time.
We meet two new characters, one is John <Spoiler>Spoiler Fangalert: we know him as Mystery Man)</Spoiler>
John is Adam's brother. He is a successful alpha male. He is attracted to Chyna and Chyna to him.
We also meet Marco, he has to do with the period of Chyna's life as a model in Europe.
What surprise me is the lack of too much Adam in this book.
Fans of the Avoiding series will read this book just because it is impossible not too.

This is a novella, so it is too short for me.
We wanted more Chyna and we got it. However, after reading this book I just have more questions and doubts.
I also want to say that I liked John, yes he does some stupid things but as a character he has a lot of potential. I want Lexie with Ramsey and I want Chyna with Adam but I guess I want John to do his own
Avoiding series. He is too hot not to.

Cabin Fever by Janet Sanders

Cabin Fever
Sarah just lost her company. Not knowing what to do she decides to retreat to her dad's cabin in Oregon.
She starts her day by walking towards the closest diner. She realizes that her life in this small town is easy and relaxed.
The first time she meets Brad she is not very fond of him. He destroys her wonderful peace with all the noise he's making.
The second time she is interviewing him and she enjoys his company.
When he tells her he is retiring from his football career and is thinking about coaching instead, she listens to his dream.
But what will happen when both have to return to their lives? Can they stay together?
I liked it. There was no major drama- no cheating- no hidden agendas.

Cautious

Misty has left her life with her husband behind. He is a cheater.

But her new beginning is full of surprises. She is in a car accident and a very handsome firefighter helps her out. Then, the apartment she is renting almost catches on fire, and guess which handsome firefighter comes to the rescue.

In the mix, we have the strain relationship she has with her sister and the secret dear sister is hiding.

This is a short story and maybe that's why it doesn't have a higher rating for me. The story moved to fast for me. But it's easy and enjoyable.

At some point they become friends but can she start a relationship with someone who has a harem??

Very funny lines. Enjoyable.

Emily takes a job at an Italian restaurant and at the end of her shift when the messenger is not available her boss ask her to do a delivery.

It turns out that Dillon is not a nice guy. He is a cheater and abusive. However, Emily feels is her duty to stay with him because he help her through her mother's illness.
Gavin tries to convince her the best way he can, that they are meant to be together.
The end is a cliffhanger which is the reason that I gave it 3 stars.
Spoiler Fangalert: I'm so mad about the last chapter. Dillon is an abusive bastard. I just don't know if Gavin is going to kill him or be hurt by Emily sleeping with Dillon one more time.

Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover

Point of Retreat
The story continues for Lake and Will. They are together but they have new responsibilities.
The book is written from Will's POV. Which is great 98% of the time. The rest of the time I wished I could have seen Lake's POV. She comes off as immature at times. Which surprised me since she was so centered in Slammed.
As you might guess, someone tries to separate them. But, what Will does to make her come back to him is wonderful. And then things get worse. Will's suffering was so real that I don't think you can read this book without shedding a tear unless your lacrimal ducts are obstructed.
4.5/5 Fangs (why? I don't know- I just loved Slammed so much more)

Effortless (Thoughtless #2) by S.C. Stephens

Effortless
Kiera and Kellan are finally a couple. Things are working great between them. However, they will be apart. Kellan's band is getting more popular. When he is offered a six month tour, he is torn between that and leaving Kiera behind. He knows what happened to Kiera after Denny left. He was there to pick up the pieces. He doesn't want to loose her but she can't go with him because she has school.
He finally leaves her to start the tour and she is a little bit of a mess. She loves him but can she trust him? That's pretty much the premise of this book. In the past they both had been with other people even though they loved each other before they were a couple.
Before he leaves Kellan hides notes he wrote for her all over her house and other places for her to find. He wants to make sure she doesn't forget him. How sweet is that!!
But Kellan is keeping secrets and so is Kiera. Can their relationship survive?
A misunderstanding almost destroys them.
Roller coaster of emotions with some tender moments and some extremely sad.
The songs, the lyrics, the notes he leaves her behind are the main reasons why I wish Kellan was real. Besides he is super hot. There is no cliffhanger and the end satisfies me completely. I miss the characters already.
Reaching down, he grabbed the man’s ring. “They’re promise rings,” he whispered. Picking up the woman’s, he lifted my right hand. Sliding it on my finger, he softly said, “You wear one,” he slipped the man’s on the ring finger of his right hand, “and I wear one.” Smiling contently, he shook his head. “And we promise that no one comes between us. That we…belong to each other, and only each other.” As I stared at him, amazed and warmed, a tear rolled down my cheek.

Slammed (Slammed #1) by Colleen Hoover

Slammed
How do I put into words how good this book is? I won't even try.
I was resistant to read this book because the review mention poetry and it didn't entice me. I'm so glad I read it anyway. I had read Hopeless before and I liked it but Slammed is a masterpiece.
The story begins with Layken moving from Texas to Michigan after her father died. They sold their home and now her mom and brother are her only family. She just turned eighteen and will start her last year of high school.
When she meets her neighbor Will Cooper they get along great, an attraction builds and when Will asks her to go out with him, he takes her to listen to slam poetry.  Oh my, who would have thought that slammed poetry can be funny, sweet, sad, and awesome? Not I.
Of course everything changes when school starts.
I won't go into any details. Why? Because this book was crafted perfectly. Kudos to Colleen Hoover for writing this sweet story.
Point of Retreat is next.
Now, where is the movie?
5/5 Fangs- nothing less for this book.

I used to love the ocean.
Everything about her.
Her coral reefs, her white caps, her roaring waves, the
rocks they lap, her pirate legends and mermaid tails,
Treasures lost and treasures held. . .
And ALL
Of her fish
In the sea.
Yes, I used to love the ocean,
Everything about her.
The way she would sing me to sleep as I lay in my bed
then wake me with a force
That I soon came to dread.
Her fables, her lies, her misleading eyes,
I’d drain her dry
If I cared enough to.
I used to love the ocean,
Everything about her.
Her coral reefs, her whitecaps, her roaring waves, the
rocks they lap, her pirate legends and mermaid tails,
treasures lost and treasures held.
And ALL
Of her fish
In the sea.
Well, if you’ve ever tried navigating your sailboat
through her stormy seas, you would realize that
her whitecaps are your enemies. If you’ve ever tried
swimming ashore when your leg gets a cramp and
you just had a huge meal of In-N-Out burgers that’s
weighing you down, and her roaring waves are
knocking the wind out of you, filling your lungs with
water as you flail your arms, trying to get someone’s
attention, but your friends
just
wave
back at you?
And if you’ve ever grown up with dreams in your head
about life, and how one of these days you would pirate
your own ship and have your own crew and that all of
the mermaids
would love
only
you?
Well, you would realize. . .
As I eventually realized . . .
That all the good things about her?
All the beautiful?
It’s not real.
It’s fake.
So you keep your ocean,
I’ll take the Lake.

The Mighty Storm (The Storm #1) by Samantha Towle

The Mighty Storm
Tru Bennett works for a magazine. She has a happy life. She has Will, her boyfriend of two years, in her life. When she gets the chance to interview Jake Wethers she is conflicted. Jake's band The Mighty Storms are world famous.
She used to know Jake. They grew up together and she knows about his childhood trauma. He moved to America at fourteen, leaving her behind. He was her best friend and crush, he left her, and now after fourteen years, he is back. When she gets to the interview she is in shock. Her attraction to Jake is immediate and to her surprise he remembers her.
He takes her out to eat the next day and then makes her agree to become his personal biographer. For this she will need to leave with him on tour. This is the opportunity of a lifetime. She just doesn't know how to stay away from him.
Their desire for each other complicates everything. Yes, there is cheating in this book but it is not prolonged.
The story brings to light many issues in the lives of rock stars, including fame, drugs, alcohol, and women.
The book ends without a cliffhanger. YAY!!!
I'm also glad to hear that there is more to come.
4/5 Fangs

Wanting to change the subject, I say, “Okay, seeing as though I’m in interviewer mode, I want to ask – if you, Jake Wethers, had to pick one song as your title song to describe yourself, what would it be – and it can’t be one of your own,” I quickly add.
“Hurt,” he answers without hesitation.

It makes me hurt inside he picked that song.
“Why?”
He lets out a light sigh. “Some people said Reznor was writing a lyrical suicide note, others said he was writing about finding a reason to live. I think it’s both … it just depends on which side you’re looking at it from.”
“And which side are you looking at it from?”
He stares at me from a long moment. My heart is hammering in my chest.
“Now? … a reason to live.”
My insides start to tremble.
“Reznor’s version or Johnny Cash’s?” I ask quietly, trying to conceal the pain from my voice.
“Johnny Cash.”
“Why?”
He closes his eyes briefly. And in this moment I just want to magic up all the power in the world to soothe his pains away.
“Because I have a few things in common with him,” he answers, opening his eyes.
“Like?”
“The drugs … the women … hanging out for the girl of my dreams.”
I take a sharp breath in. Tears instantly prick the backs of my eyes.
He touches my face, his thumb smoothing over my lips. “You’re my June, Tru.”
Holy shit.

Thoughtless (Thoughtless #1) by S.C. Stephens

Thoughtless
Thoughtless- what a wonderful book! If you haven't read it, you must.
Kiera Allen has left her home, following her boyfriend of two years, Denny, to Seattle. She is in love with Denny and doesn't see herself without him. They are going to be staying with Denny's friend, Kellan Kyle.
Kellan is a musician, he is the leader of a band called the D-bags. He is a very attractive man and when Kiera listens to him sing for the first time she feels a connection with him. But, Denny is her life.
Denny has started a new job and he is doing very well. Kiera on the other hand is starting school and finds a job at Pete's, the bar where the D-bags play. She meets all the guys from the band and make new friends.
Things get complicated when Denny is called away for work and leaves her alone. She is confused. She moved all the way to Seattle to be with him only to have him leave her behind. Her solitude doesn't last. Kellan becomes a part of her life. She spends her mornings drinking coffee with him, he drops her off and picks her up from school. New emotions arise in both of them. Kellan opens up to Kiera in a way he has never done before. He has been using sex to forget. He had a terrible childhood. When Kiera breaks up with Denny, she is devastated but Kellan is there to pick up the pieces. But Denny is not out of the picture, and when he returns, Kiera must choose.
So many good secondary characters. Denny -hot australian guy, who is sweet. Jenny -good friend. Anna- spicy sister. Griffin- such a D-bag but lovable character. Spoiler Fangalert-even when Kiera is in the hospital bed- he is copping a feel. LOL.
S.C. Stephens does an amazing job at describing their turmoil: how Kellan is so broken despite all the female attention. I felt so sad for him. It was gut wrenching seeing him so lost. There is a scene after the rain that brought tears to my eyes. I wanted to scream at Kiera, "PICK KELLAN!!".

Losing It (Losing It #1) by Cora Carmack

Bliss Edwards is in college. She however has decided that it may be time to loose her virginity. Her best friend convinces her to go out and have a one night stand. Bliss is not sure about it but goes with her anyway. On her way to the restroom she encounters a very attractive man who is reading. She strikes up a conversation with him. He is British and the accent does crazy things to her. She decides to take him home. But when they are almost naked she leaves her apartment and runs away with the excuse that she forgot to pick up her cat.
So what does she do...yep, she gets a cat later on.
To her dismay, when she goes to school it turns out that Garrick, Mr. Taylor, is her new teacher, as well as the man with whom she almost had sex the night before.
They tried to resist each other, even more so when they figure out they are neighbors too.
Garrick is hot, sweet and possessive. My Garrick is a little older than the model in the cover.
This story is believable, the dialogue is funny at times and the epilogue is sweet. I thought the part when they both got sick and took care of each other was so tender.

Mile High (Up In The Air #2) by R.K. Lilley

Mile High
The second book in the series starts about a month after the first one ends.
Bianca is recuperating. She has told James that she needs time and space. He gives it to her.
When they finally meet again, she can't deny her attraction to him. And if she is honest with herself, she has missed him.
He takes her away to a ranch. He opens up to her in a way he has never done before.
He asked her to move in with him and most of the book is about trying to convince her.
We also have to deal with James' exes and Bianca's past becoming her present.

In Flight (Up In The Air #1) by R.K. Lilley

In Flight
Bianca Karlsson has avoided a normal relationship for years. She is flight attendant in the first class section. When she meets hotel Billionaire James Cavendish, her world tilts.
She has a hard time carrying the champagne without spilling it all over. Maybe its the turquoise stare from Mr. Beautiful.
James asked her out and when she tells him she doesn't date, he says that he doesn't either.
James knows he wants Bianca. Her innocence calls to him. He won't stop until he gets her. He is a Dom and she seems to be his perfect Sub.
At the end, she accepts his proposition. We learn that they both had a terrible childhood.
Bianca does have a best friend, Stephen.  They had known each other for years and had protected each other. He is gay and is probably my favorite character. He will defend and stand up for Bianca to anyone, including James.
The end of the book is very emotional and, unfortunately, a cliffhanger (why? why? why?).
This book has a lot of BDSM scenes, which I'm not crazy about.
